It will be one year in May since I experienced being in one of these rooms. The team I had was excellent. They removed the lipoma from my right atrium and bypassed the LAD. It has been a long and difficult recovery with complications and setbacks. I have had wonderful support and finally feeling much better....very thankful for the skilled surgeon and the rest of his team in that large room!
Hi Dr. Lemaire this is a great video! I just got a job as a CVOR nurse and I start my job on April 8th. I have some experience recovering open hearts in the ICU, however, I have never worked in an OR. What are some things I need to know before I start my job? Any advice for new CVOR nurses? Thank you in advance!
Thank you for the nice comments. You asked a great question that is loaded. Working in the OR is in my opinion is a great experience. I think the advice you get should be from multiple people. I think you should ask an OR nurse and get a surgeon perspective. From a surgeon, I would say that you should try to learn the particular likes and dislikes of the surgeons you work with. This usually comes with time. Second, as much as possible, try to learn the "general" steps of the case so you know what to anticipate. There is so much more to say but I would recommend paying attention as mush as possible to what is happening in the case. There can be so many distractions in the OR. Anyhow, Good Luck!!!!
Great video as always, love the series!
Thank you...
