Sehr rhythmische und spannende Leistung dieses romantischen Streichquintetts. Die Aufeinanderwirkung zwischen den fünf Mitglieder ist perfekt!

Mendelssohn's scherzos are almost always the best parts of his string/chamber pieces. So inventive and clever.(think of his Octet, his op 12 & 13 quartets, his op 80 string quartet---even his piano trios) He doesn't usually do as well in the adagios or his in his 1st movements IMO. (this quintet & The Octet is an exception, with the slow movements being particularly good) But with a few exceptions, He seems to do the best in the scherzo and fast rollicking finales of his string quartet/quintet pieces. But he was very young when he composed most of pieces, so that makes sense. Most great adagio and dramatic music is usually composed by older composers---late 20's and up, and Mendelssohn, sadly didn't do a lot of composing in his later years due to work commitments/family etc. A truly under rated composer tho.
