6:22 He is honoured with Doctor of music degree at Oxford university. He is a maestro in music.
Fun fact : he is the 17th generation singer in his dynasty. His family has been in music bussiness for over 600 years .

In 2017, Oxford University named a rehearsal hall after him - the Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Music Room. This was the first time a South Asian singer received this honour. In 2016, he was presented with a lifetime achievement award by the Oxford University.. He also wonlots of Pakistani & Indian awards as well
No its not a competition or something. Its a platform where famous singers come and sing old songs in new way or sometimes they compose new songs.
😮 Thats even better
That was really good
He is legend....his whole family his ancestors all are great singers... almost he is 7th generation 🤪
No autotone, no beat makers no cheating. Pure talent
Hi! Coke Studio launches its season every year with different number of episodes. Basically the set of the show is a studio where they write, compose, and rehearse a song and then record it in one go ( which is insane! Ain't it?) Every musician knows his work so well that is why they don't take retakes and stuff. The singers who are invited by coke studio to sing songs are so professional and trained that they manage to nail it on a single recording and as soon as the song is recorded it is released in the episode. So, basically Coke Studio Pakistan is the oldest and the most heard musical show in the country and all across the globe too.
Also, a Turkish word "Afrerm" has been adopted in Persian and Urdu as "Afreen". The word Afreen has many meanings. It is an exclamation of praise. Its used to express delight and elegance. It's used in a sense of encouragement of goodness in Turkish. It's used to praise the beauty of an individual and to consider him/her a true gem. So basically, the poetry of this Ghazal ( a poem that is written in the praise of someone) is the explanation of the unparallel amount of beauty that a women possesses. It is written to praise her eyes, her hair, the way she talks and then the poet says that the girl he loved was the most unique and beautiful girl in the world. There is no one like and no one could ever be like her.
Here is the English translation of the song:
Haven't seen someone as beautiful as her
Her body is like a sculpture of Ajanta
Her body, like a magic on my eyes
Her body, like a song, her body like a fragrance
Her body is like aromatic moonlight
Her body is like a dancing tune
Her body is like a blooming garden
Her body is like the first ray of the sun
Her body is so finely crafted, oh love!
Smooth like sandalwood
Pure like marble
It is impossible to admire the beloved's beauty in words!
Praise to the creator!
Praise to the creator!
If you look at it, you too say it
Praise to the creator!
Praise to the creator!
It is impossible to admire the beloved's beauty in words!
It is impossible to admire the beloved's beauty in words!
I don't know how have you entangled my gaze with yours
My mind gets drawn towards you
The dawn on my face, the dusk of my tresses
Everything that is mine dear, is now yours
Your gaze touched me, this magic is the result
I feel beautiful
Praise to the creator!
Praise to the creator!
Praise to the creator!
Praise to the creator!
Her face is fresh like a flower
Is it her face or the moon?
Her face is a poetry, the song of life
Her face is like a bud, like a lotus
Her face is an imagination and its picture as well
Her face is both a dream and the reality
Her face is like the saga of Alif-Laila (Romeo-Juliet)
Which is certain in a moment, and just an imagination in another
Her face is like no other
Bright and radiant!
It is impossible to admire the beloved's beauty in words!
Praise to the creator!
Praise to the creator!
If you look at it, you too say it
Praise to the creator!
Praise to the creator!
It is impossible to admire the beloved's beauty in words!

'Afreen' means something 'immensely beautiful'❤💫Lots of love from India 💝🇮🇳
Are you a jelious
Nope Afreen in this song means “ praise to her creater”
Afreen means praise the creator
Just got to the end of the vid, so the scatting thing he did is known as ‘Lehkaari’. That’s the correct term. It’s basically playing around with the Asian equivalent of ‘Do Re Mi’...which is ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’. One needs to be an absolute master to even think of attempting it. Rahat is perhaps the only one alive atm to do it at a world class level.
Which brings me to his uncle, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the GOAT imho. You guys need to see his stuff, he was UNREAL.
Lastly, yes this was live singing🤘🏼
😮😮😮dayum
Chimichonga Sisters I could recommend you a couple of his uncles clips. His work is so vast that I’m afraid you’d need my help to navigate🤣🤣
If you’re interested in checking it out that is😅
There are definitely singers that can do this. Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya, Hariharan, Kaushik Chakrabothy. But Ustad Rahat Saab is up a level. That is why he is called Ustad, it means Master. He has absolutely mastered his style of singing.
@@sathishtravensky7741 I know all of the singers above pretty well...your suggestion that they ‘COULD’ do it, baffles me...perhaps you need to educate yourself?
@@kashankhan6950 i have definitely seen them do this before. Not at Rahat's level. But impressive all the same.
We love when you praise our culture. Thankyou so much!!!!
You sisters are of so good personality and nature:)
TYSM!!🥰
As a pakistani I proud and the singer is a legend I love this song so much and love your reaction
Omg I LOVE you guys..you got a new subscriber..i would love for you guys to react to more coke studio songs and more pakistani food! ❤️
The song has subtitles do read them..
These are Pakistani well known singers who’re singing live in the studio. The guy who was singing is known among the world.
With the help of whom you tell
I recommend: all coke studio
Atif Aslam - Tajeda e haram.
Ali Zafar - Rock Star
Shamili Afghan - Mram Mram
With lyrics on
Yes highly recommend..
The female singer was momina and it was her first time singing. The male singer was rahat fateh Ali Khan. He is worldwide famous. In coke studio multiple singers collaborate on old songs and remake it with additional lyrics or additional music and give it a new form and yes it was live. Sometimes they make new songs too. They practice is and then do it all in one take. Almost all seasons are hit. Some Ppl playing keyboard and piano are themselves big singers in Pakistan but in coke studio sometimes they are producers or giving their songs with permission for remake and collaborate in different positions. Like there is another song of singer shuja haider called tera woh pyar but in coke studio he gave the chance to two new singers to sing and he just played an instrument in the song and did other things. You should watch coke studio season 8,9,10 and will love all of it
!oved it plz do another part of trying Pakistan I food or just go with Pakistan I things👀💖
Yes 💗 you are right

The lyrics are just so beautiful I don't know if there are captions available but you gotta watch lyrics 💜
Subtitles are available. When you will listen to the meaning you will have joy of tears in your eyes. The thing he did in the end is known as the surr or alphabets of music. They are SA RAY GA MA PA DHA NEE.
Afri Afri mean that when you love or see someone and you can give everything for that person love from an Italian Pakistani Muslim ♥️
Afreen means "wow" "amazing" "beautiful"
I have recently watched your videos and I'm totally obsessed with you lovelies 💕💕
react on ''''tera woh payar''' from coke studio......pakistan long live
This is from Coke Studios Season 9 and it is on Season 12 now. First 1-6 seasons were produced by original creator and producer of the show the musical mastermind Rohail Hayat so they are on his youtube page while he rejoined fin season 12. Yes they record everything live in this show and it is not auto tuned at all which is the best thing about this show. Also it has subtitles in every song so you could turn it on as Coke Studios is actually famous for deep lyrics of their songs and long duration songs with each instrument given time not only vocalists, most of vocalists are already famous like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is very famous singer and he sings in this unique style if singing of this region, he is the nephew and student of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (this song was sung by him originally and here they added additional lyrics for girl part and yes he was not singing in the end just doing Raag its v difficult thing to do only professionals and v good singers can do), one of the greatest vocalist of all time to whom Jeff Buckley called he is my Elvis, they sing unique singing style known as Qawali which has deep lyrics, similar to Sufi Music or its branch in classical music. Due to Coke Studios success in Pakistan where it was started (some say it started in Brazil which is not true at it was just concert arranged by Coke Studios not Studio singing) now it has been adopted by many countries in Asia like India, Middle East (Arabic) and Africa. Please react to Rock Star by Ali Zafar from Coke Studios.
afreen means outrageous... it's really deep.. you have to feel it deep inside from your heart... Actually the guy is praising his girl ❤

Hey army💜
Aaaah I just get shivers every time I listen to this song..The writing 📝 ✒️ unparalleled... Every single word is soo pure🤧🤧 I cry every time... I wish nowadays some writers and lyricists try to use these kinds of writings instead of those songs which are meaningless and make one's ear bleed....
6:50 "when u remember ur vocal cords are another instrument" ahahahaha lol died laughing XD
Coke studio is a studio where people sing and released on tv and it comes every year
I really think you should listen to Atif Aslam

the programs. Also his style of singing in the end is called Raag it is a Classical Style
of singing comes after years of practice under an experienced Guru(mentor) this
type of singing is common to Pakistan & India!!!
8:18 That is called sargam which includes SA RE GA MA PA DHA NI SA, He is singing all these words in different order and in a fast and melodious way.For eg - DA NI NI SA SA GA GA MA MA PA DHA DHA NI NI SA
Next reaction on baazi from coke studio you'll definitely like that one
Yes she do look like a Disney princess
"When you remember your vocal chords are another instrument"
Afreen means wonderful and the song is all about praising your lover the writer is praising his lover.
You girls are soo pretty and doing great videos ❤️
Loads of love from Hongkong 💋
There are seven notes in traditional Indian/Pakistani music. There are “Sa”, “Re”, “Ga”, “Ma”, “Pa”, “Dha”, and “Ni”.
Collectively these notes are known as the "Sargam" or Seven Noes of Sur". All the rhythms revolve around these surs. The singers practice it and during songs, show their expertise on these.
love from india!
I’m Pakistani, and this is played in modern day weddings. The other day, my mom’s younger cousin got married, and this song was played. Also, I love Korean culture, the food 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
great reaction! That was in studio live recording.
OMG! I'm early
Big love from PAKISTAN❤

No its just a studio iam from pakistan,he was singing sargam and the girl name is momina mustehsan thanks for the lovely rewie
U guys are just love
Aafreen is an expression of praise, almost literally like saying Bravo Bravo, in this song its meant to praise the beauty of his lover
They don't showcase their talent in coke studio they showcase their mastery
"when you realise that your vocal chords are another instrument" 👍👍
At the last part he is playing amazingly with these seven words Sa re ga ma pa da ni
Love u guys

You both are so beautiful and cute
Love from Pakistan 💜💜
Svara or Swara (the ending part of the song u asked about are seven surs collectively call svara) is a sanskrit word that connotes a note in the successive steps of the octave. More comprehensively, it is the ancient subcontinent (nowadays india and Pakistan and bangladesh) concept about the complete dimension of musical pitch
The seven notes of the musical scale in subcontinent classical music are Sa, Ri/Re , Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni.
These are called seven surs
These are mainly used in pakistani and indian music mostly 💜💜
Hope it answered your question these were the melodies in last u were asking about
Loved the reaction, coke studio always have subtitles in their and English language u just have to turn it on 💯
U guys should try it with the subtitles the lyrics just hits 🥺🥺💜
its seemed like u r in loved with it
They rehearsal many times amd then record it in one go.
Cokestudio and nescafe basement is very famous not only in Pakistan but also in many other countries.
You will also love these two music shows.
You should also react to pakistani drama osts like suno chanda (season 1,2), ehd e wafa(part 1,2) , ye dil mera (part 1,2) , alif , khaani and many more......u will love it....love from pakistan....!!!!
You should definitely put on subtitles on for rest of the coke studio vids, would make sense way better. :D
In India and pakistan, songs are usually released for movies only. So the coke studio allows musicians to perform and reach to mass TV audience even if the song is not selected for any movie
There's so much more for you guys to listen and watch and I dont mean this in rude way at all but there's so much more and i can't can't wait to see you guy's reaction 😍🤗 I hope you guys react to Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghosal, Sonu Nigam and many more artists I'll be looking forward to more of these videos this was awesome ❤
My fav song and singer🙌
The whole song is recorded live. And every coke studio song is recorded that way. You should listen to more of coke studio, you will love it.
This is a song written by an Indian and performed by this all-time favourite Pakistani. I do not understand what we fight still. Respect.
Style of singing in this song: Hindustani classical music (although there are other styles with similar intonations that might confuse an outsider)
Music at the end: He was singing a 'taan' (phrase) of notes, like doh mi so, but based on the raag (arrangement) that this song uses.
That vocal solo called jugalbandi
You guys look so cute jamming to the song.😍
U should react to pakistani drama ost's such as for khaani
I love the lady singer❤️❤️🥰
The lyrics describes the girl in every beautiful way but still says 'it's impossible to describe her ' woooow.. My hearrrt
Plz react on eid mubarak ayat arif from 🇵🇰 Pakistan
Please react on Love me again by nescafe. A whole girls band. Please
The song has got subtitles and they are real real good.
It's a live studio version of some popular and some originals, fusions etc.
Coke studio is produced in seasons. Currently there are 12 seasons if I'm not wrong.
The style of singing has it's roots in hindustani classical which is based on ragaas. It is the style of south asia, majorly India/ Pakistan. The guy singing is a living legend trained by his late uncle Ustad Nusrat who is considered the pioneer or ambassador of Hindustani classical and sufi music in the west.
I love your reaction 😍
They’re singing about the both of you as far as I’m concerned 🤣🤣🤣
plz turn on the subs btw!
