- In this Episode, we will attempt to finish a work in progress that prevents this awesome machine from booting, the dreaded Black Screen of Death, which is common to Amiga 600s as they age. This is Part One of a Two Part Episode.
Good to see you back Allan
Thanks. It has been a while. This video took longer than expected due to its nature. Hope you are doing well.
Thank you for uploading a new amiga repair video:) There is something about your way of making content that makes me happy, oddly satisfying:) Hope you find the problem with reset circuit. Did you check those ceramic caps/ressistors for shorts or cracks that is involved arround the 555 timer? Im just guessing since I have had similar problems. I would also suggest a microscope if you do not have one. :) That helps me allot when looking at solder joints and also just genneral stuff on a circuit board. Looking forward to to the next part:) Happy easter from Norway.
I do have a microscope, you will see it in the background at the beginning of Part 2 :)
@@amigaretro4765 yepp fist thing to show up in the background :)
AMIGA FOREVER 😺👍🕹️!
Also, i'm your retrospective channel subscriber from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮 😺👍🕹️.
I still play the original hardwares of the
Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 😺👍🕹️.
Thank you 😸😺👍.
You are welcome. Both Computer systems are truly amazing, this is why I must keep these things running as intended 😁
I would like to visit Finland some day. The closest I have been was Denmark in March of 2020, which is still some distance away but definitely closer than Canada.
My Amiga 600 had reset problem before, checked my Keyboard with Amiga Kit tools and seen that reset keys dont work! So i cutted keyboard membrane for to have better connection in socket, but it was bad idea, so i pull membrane up, because contact in socket are up! So i solve it, all keys on keyboard are working, but sometimes i am waiting a bit longer for boot screen to come! Maybe i have bad caps or bad membrane? Or something else!
Several things can cause a boot delay. One being the Boot device itself, Floppy, HDD, Compact Flash etc. The other being one of the Capacitors in the Keyboard Reset Timer circuit being marginal, taking longer to charge or discharge than normal.
