I ended up with a few of those before I knew that people were forging chips :(

I have disputed and get refunded for every rebadged IC I get from Aliexpress no matter if they work or not. If they are rebadged, they are not what I ordered.

I imagine eBay would have done the same. Since the chips worked and there is no huge performance difference between the 68000 and 68010, I wasn't too concerned. Disappointment yes, concerned not too much. This would have been different under other circumstances.

@@amigaretro4765 I don't share your point. I always ask for a refund, to not encourage the crook. And if the seller can get banned from the marketplace, I'm happier

Unfortunately this is so wide spread they are now selling recycled chips to OEM's in China. The problem is very real and scary. It's just about increasing their profits because they sell these rebadged IC's knowing and hoping no one will complain because even on eBay opening a case is no joy.

I bought two 68010s in PLCC. Identical markings, different package mouldings! Needless to say they didn't work. Ebay is full of this. Find a decent seller and stick with them.

Indeed. I tend to do the same. Over-all ebay has treated me well :)

I remember I had a craptom of 68010s which I found by chance. But they were PLCC format. :( Not DIP. (I was an Amiga 500 owner at the time). So I ended up just throwing them away. Sadly.

I have an accelerator card that uses the PLCC type 68000 or 68010, these are not very common. The card overclocks the 68000 up to 40 MHz. Unfortunately the 68010 CPU doesn't overlock well :(

It's probably just a matter of time. If this does happen, they most likely wont be useable and will damage your computer. I have heard horror stories of such things.
