But at the end he says the winner, losers..."participants" wouldn't have hurt as an alternative 😅
Beautiful Lady with the greatest voice on Earth❤❤❤
when Eurovision was not a freak show ...
I remember watching the show and that's when began a fan not just because she in the eurovision 88 but when she started singing in English I was already leaving in America when she became more famous in America. Love her voice then, and I still love her voice now.❤
Little did people that night realise how big off a singer Celine would become in both English French music
WE THE POPULATION (ME) OF QUÉBEC ! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! MONSIEUR!
Oh my gosh..
The strength and range of her voice.
We are all the better because of her gift.❤️
the begining of her world conquest ! bravo celine
The public was not as annoying then. I miss those days.. they respectfully clap and then lets her sing. Not shouting and disturbing.
Very different indeed. Men wearing tux, formal dresses for the ladies, the orchestra right next to the stage - very elegant. I love to see the hosts being polite and dignified, not shouting like idiots ("helloooooooo Eurooooooooope!")
I remember watching the scoring live and how excited I was. I loved Celine Dion's performance, but I was particularly moved by Scott Fitzgerald's interpretation.
I wish Celine Dion good health. I read she had to cancel all her performances due to her illnesses. Get better soon Celine! We love you and your Eurovision win was the start of it all!
Sad! but Céline probabely gonna never touring because of her illness! my sister got this disease ! 4 years ago! you can't cure this! she gonna die from it! sorry!
C'était Magnifique! Innoubliable! Grâce aux votes de la Yougoslavie :)
Whitney Houston and Celine Dion will always be my top 2 favorite singers. I learned how to sing at 3 years old with Whitney Houston's songs then later Celine's as well.
Céline's song was so catchy, and her voice, stunning as always. Nice to see the great Lara Fabian as well at 6:43, another fabulous artist/voice, she had come 4th at this contest.
I knew that i knew that girl, Lara Fabian...also a great Singer!
@@KTMLaranjinha But she say , she was jaelous of Céline and again now ! she say : it's song was winner , not Céline ! Bad feeling , no !
What country did Laura Fabian represent at that time?
@@marcoluppo5783 Luxemburg. ;)
@@jeremie2020 yes!
They had no idea what an icon she became
Thank you for this :D never watched the complete thing :)
We love you Celine . I am from former Yugoslavia. I was 10 years old when i saw you here on Eurovision for the first time and many years latter when i moved to USA I attended many of your concerts . It was my dream to meet you and it came true. Love you always. Get better soon. We all miss you very much. You are a legend.
Those were the days. Great songs and great singers ... and Noel Kelehan conducting the RTE orchestra.
And I don’t understand why Cèline didn’t want to talk or remember anything about ESC, I mean, it’s a huge Event and very popular not only in Europe, all around the world, if I have the opportunity to be in that stage will be a memory for life 🎉 Cèline have one of the best voices in history ❤
Where did she say that? It's possible nobody in Canada or the US has ever asked her about it, barely anybody there heard of Eurovision til the last few years (and it's still niche).
I knew the man who designed the trophy that year (presented at the end to the songwriters). His name was Keith Leadbetter, a very talented artist and sculptor. He passed away a few years ago.
Yes I remember him , he flew with the royal flying core in WW1 and he was shot in the buttocks and we called him old lead bottom after that 💃🏼🤭😂😂
Celine is jewel 💎
I love so much this song...it's so beautiful.
Oh my god love celine dion ... remember this night so much
Congratulations Momma Celine 😍😘 So She Represent Switzerland to this EuroVision 😍 It's really the stars align for her to be SHINE ❤️🙏 Living Legend ❤️
magnifique notre Céline, quelle voix et quelle belle carrière !!!! merci à elle
You are welcome Celine, greetings from Slovenia
Not only was this year made iconic by the legendary Céline Dion winning the ESC, but we also had another music legend of modern times - Lara Fabian - participating that year in the name of Luxemburg @ 06:43.
Yes Indeed. Lara is also a superstar and still amazing the world all these years later. Both incredible singers.
@@susanwenner8738 absolutely. I just attended her concert in Belgrade. It was magical.
@@nemanagaurmyrn8758 I’ve been to a Celine concert with fabulous seats. Now I need to see about a Lara concert. Everyone should look into Lara Fabians career as she has not been as honorably accessible to many.
A good many fans have come to appreciate many amazing musicians, such as Lara, because of you tube. Myself included.
@@susanwenner8738 I hope you go see her at a concert soon. I have no doubt it will be a wonderful experience for you. Just as Céline, she is a tour de force live.
@@nemanagaurmyrn8758 Thank you for this note. I had plans in 2020 to see her in USA but we all know what happened in 2020.
Be well and enjoy great music my friend.
🇨🇦⚜️ The year Canada and Quebec won Eurovosion! Fantastique!
Two things: a) Quebec IS in Canada b) Switzerland competed, not Canada
Omg Yugoslavia 😻
Wow what countdown !!!
Watching in 2022 🙂
A star was born.
If I were in the same competition as Celine Dion and Lara Fabian I would vote for a repeat of the competition to hear their voices again... Especially Celine with her beautiful, powerful and unmistakable voice!

Lara Fabian and Céline Dion competed in the same year. I love them both a lot.
K voz y k clase Celine!!♥️♥️
Oh, those were the times when Eurovision was still worth watching. I remember this so vividly. That was when I first heard of Celine Dion. It was, obviously not the last time. Before she got on stage the commentator on our national TV said: 'The country that organized the very first Eurovision Song Contest was Switzerland and the Swiss won that contest, but after that they've never repeated the success.' And the rest is history... :)
If you consider that Celine Dion wasn't even the first choice for Switzerland to represent them at Eurovision... before Celine Dion, the Swiss aproached a czech singer and musician Lenka Filipova... but she didn't get a permision from the Communist regime back then...represent another country, or even leave Czechoslovakia...
It is still my favourite eurovision song and winner I still love it
One of my favorite songs in eurovision too.
@@nacht98 that is so very nice to read
Ohne Schnickschnack
Ohne großes Bühnenbild
Ohne Tam Tam
Und trotzdem gewonnen!! 🎉
Aquí ganaron dos grande divas internacionales lara Fabián y celine dion , celine ganó pero lara Fabián también llegó a ser una artista internacional cosechando éxitos internacionales hoy en día con una carrera increíble
This was when I heard Celine first time singing and knew this will be start of a great long lasting carrier.
The Star was born
This Eurovision was one of the best. Two of the most amazing singers in the planet together in the same event: Celine e Lara 😍
Celine Dione, u are the best, your voice is amazing,,, big love
Thanks for this wonderful archive, i was not hyped by Céline at this time but it's good to see how all started for her❤
Ur welcome 🥰
I was in the Dutch jury, and Scott's writers were so angry we gave 0 to the UK. but he ended at 11th place so that was 0 points. and I m sfill happy Celine won
Celine...such a great,such a pure soul!
