Just a warning to all users like me who doesn't mind running bash script directly because they trust and assume that devs are good and smart people, The installation and uninstallation script is really badly written. There is no check if dependencies are installed or not, and it forcefully reinstall all dependencies like curl, parted etc. Discord is full of complaint on this. there is also typo in hostname command. During uninstall, there is whole lot of docker command missing arguments errors, and this time also, it doesn't check for dependencies and cause bash errors on whiptail.
Thanks for this information, I'm sure this will be useful to the people who were planning to use this. This is a good practice in general, indeed: Before running a shell script, check it out for yourself and make sure you understand what it does before exposing your computer to its 'magic'. Hopefully, these problems will be resolved soon, but it's hard to trust it if the bar for quality control has been set this low.
I am the product leader of IceWhale Technology. Our team is taking the issue you mentioned very seriously. We have several meeting to discuss the problem and worked a detailed iteration plan. We will release the improved version as soon as possible. Updates will also be replied to here. CasaOS is still in the early iteration stage, and we realized that we didn't get the details right. There're very basic mistakes. But as a project with a long-term development plan, what we're doing now is recognizing the problem, responding and making changes from the underlying standard. Please also keep an eye on our changes. thank you for your time.
I'm extremely excited for this! I already have my own DIY home server so, probably not something I'm gonna go out and buy rn, but this could be huge in terms of bringing people into self-hosting on their own hardware. I love how well-integrated and user friendly it looks!
Wait, what? An actual EASY way to handle docker?? I've bashed my noggin on the wall so many times trying to get a simple music server set up for my home use that I just gave up. This looks amazing, thank you!!!
not bad, I might have to try it out, tho I've been a proxmox user for a few years now. I've got some experience with LXC containers and full vms but I've never really used docker.
So my main drive is the boot section of my 2tb nvme. I’m not able to access 1.9tb of my own storage? I’m brand new to Linux and using ssh terminal commands. I need help radarr isn’t able to grab correct folders
Can i just use the web app to ménage my dockers that are sitting remotely on my zim@board runnig a different distribution ? Not sure if get the use case of this technology
It's streaming the screen and showing it in the browser? It's unexpectedly smooth then. Connecting to my school's Linux TTY is laggy, and the data transmission is just a byte or two per so many pixels.
part of me wishes i had a use for things like this cause it looks fun to play with but the more tech literate i get the more i hate tech and want dumb things lol. like, i'm moving over to Debian so my os leaves me alone. i don't need the same packages to be updated three times a week. it feels like someone coming into my house and moving all my shit around just a bit. STOP TOUCHING MY STUFF MAN haha
Just use windows 365 if you want an easy os in the cloud . Most users will use windows for docker especially in windows subsystem for Linux . So I recommend you do more windows os content .
I recommend You should try freenas, or any linux os on server, It is free, secure, open-source doesn't need a subsystem to run native commands. And it is really easy to use, Even my mom use linux to write her blogs and she doesn't even know difference between chrome and firefox. As a former windows server 2008-2012 manager, I really suggest you to try linux.
@@Irthiza so what . Who cares about closed software or not . Most windows user and windows server user including me don’t care about closed source software

Wow. That's terrible.

I've created an issue in GitHub based on your comment. the team will follow up on it.

Really interesting concept, I’d not seen this before. Could help new/novice users enjoy these dockers without expert knowledge.
That would be me.lol
I don't even know if this will work for me, yet, but just having hope... Enjoy your weekend. :)

docker is easiest for me with docker-compose

Tested it yesterday...Very exiting , very intuitive . BUT how to add others users. The more simple things I know but I don't see "add users" .

How it differs from portainer?
How can you make it work with https?
Seems like CasaOS is one of the distros. Yeah.

how did you add a casa os Shortcut in apps?
Interesting I've been using portainer for my docker VM but I wonder how this compares.
I would be glad to see same video about nixos :)

"Casa" means "Home" in PT-Br 👍
same in Spanish.
CasaOS literally means "get married" in spanish
in italian is instead like "home os" probably what they intended :)
@@lucacavedale676 in Spanish too
isn't it "get _them_ married"?
Casar is to get married. Casa is home. El y ella se van a casar. Or, ella y el se casaron. Los dos se fueron a casa depues de casarse.

that has to be the most stupid take i've ever read.
The point of using this is not to use proprietary OS when open source alternatives are available.
