I thought she should've at least gotten a nomination. Also, She showed up in Apple's Godzilla show, Monarch. And she was kind of a bad guy. That was a fun twist. It was great to see her in sometime else.
Naomi’s injuries due to sudden decompression include: radiation burns all over from being exposed to vacuum (not actually related to decompression). Burst cells all over due to their water content vaporizing causing inflammation all over. Extreme decrease in arterial pressure, while increase in venous pressure causing loss of blood circulation. So essentially burst cells through out her body and radiation burns causing extreme inflammation leading to extreme pressure sensitivity, as well as temporary blindness.
Small piece of info: when she is making hash-marks in the wall, she's calculated how much air she's losing every time she vents the airlock to go to the outer hull, so this is her keeping track of how thin the cabin pressure is getting over time. She can't do this too much, or she'll run out of air.
They set up Naomi calculating remaining air in Episode 2 of season 1! They set up Belters stealing Martian Stealth tech in Episode 1 of season 1! They set up Naomi's oxygen syringe earlier with Monica in Episode 2 of this season. I suspect Naomi's space walk has been done before by a lot of Belters; hence the term "Rock Hopper".
"I can't believe I'm starting to like Clarissa" that's what everyone says. The writing and the actress really go from someone you hate to someone you feel bad for to someone you want to protect.
Re. Naomi's injuries: As I understand it, basically, she's got burst capillaries _all over her body,_ mostly near the surface. Imagine if literally every muscle hurt to move, _and_ it hurt to touch anything with more than the gentlest amount of pressure. And now she has to do all this manual labor.

To add to that, she has burns on the left side of her body that was turned toward the sun during the jump - anywhere that was exposed. Its best seen on her face - half of it is burned
I appreciate your recognition of Naomi as a character and her fight even without guns, but with her brain. Some reactors never seem to appreciate her or care for her scenes unfortunately. Naomi deserves the props and she is one of my favorite characters.
One of Naomi's injuries is an extreme sunburn on her hands and face, the parts that were uncovered and exposed to unfiltered solar radiation when she was in space.
I've often raved how damn good this show is and it's overlooked. But this season ( especially Dominique Tipper) is inexcusable that it wasn't at the very least nominated for an Emmy. As many has said, between the the score, directing, cinematography, acting.... this is just Criminal! By the time you finish this series you may start to understand when I say, I miss my show 💔 I miss my family 😭
Lord, I miss the show too. To butcher Anderson Dawes: "Living with this pain, I came to realize that I had thousands of brothers and sisters online. I even count you among them." 😀 We are the Screaming Firehawks, a family of choice rather than birth lottery. Have a great day, beratna, while we wait for the rest of this incredible story to be told anew.
Honestly - *not* giving Dominique Tipper an Emmy for this performance is infuriating. But hey, *we* know that acting in The Expanse in general is stunning, the changes, *especially* in Amos, Naomi and Chrisjen are insane if you think back to episode 1 - Holden not so much after slithering along his path for a bit, but he's a coffee-addicted paladin, so...🤭 The later seasons especially make it brutally clear that *this* is the best sci-fi show currently in existence - mind you, not that other are *bad* but the don*t excel in so many fields at the same time as the Expanse does. Best regards Raoul G. Kunz
Peaches and Amos were watching each other's backs. Marco would have totally stripped the ship, leaving only enough for it to appear occupied to an observing ship. Also, because Belters are demolition experts, Naomi's chances of disarming the entire array of charges are slim. Naomi studied a placard that told her the volume of the compartment. She calculated how many trips she could take through the lock, which she's counting off each time. But every time she returns to catch her breath, there is less air to breathe. Naomi changed the message to say that she is in control.
The clarissa heel turn is awesome.....she even saved everyone at end of season 3 also which showed she was a good person too.......she just wanted her dads approval and to stop who she thought was the actual bad person in james
I really don't think Philip saw Naomi make it to the other ship - remember Cyn was blocking the outer airlock door from closing, so Philip would have been stuck behind the inner door
Yes, exactly. Not only was Cyn blocking most of the open outer airlock door, that door was not fully open either, so the field of view was pretty small already. Also, Naomi went out in a slight angle and the ships were drifting apart already. Her reaching it probably wasn't visible from Filips view to begin with.
Naomi has: Radiation burns from the sun. Decompression injuries (swollen joint, muscles etc.) Extreme dehydration (all the water in her body will have expanded and largely evaporated) Impact with the ship also
You want to know Naomi's injury's ! I will try .. Exposure to vacuum first off All the small capillary's would bust leaving bruising all over the body, swelling in every joint every movement will be painful, all surface water such as in the mouth, throat and eyes would boil away in seconds leaving her dehydrated and finally all exposed skin facing the sun would receive radiation burns basically extreme sun burn. So yeah not great. As for Phillip, Naomi jumped up and away, Phillip would unlikely to be able to see her get to the other ship, he was the other side of the air lock so limited vision.
My favorite thing about The Expanse is that all of the women are so different and so complex. There isn't a single woman on this show that I did not love even when they were frustrating me with their choices. These are some of my favorite tv characters of all time and I've seen ALOT of television. It still annoys me that nobody was ever nominated for any of the big tv awards.
Star Trek: The Next Generation had a lot of episodes that featured stuff like working on power conduits or otherwise weirdly untraditional plots. I don't know if the writers were thinking of that, but at some level this episode feels like an amazing honoring of that idea, amping it up to an absolutely f'in gripping episode. This series manages some AMAZING 'survival' plots in many different ways (look at last season and Ilus, or this season and Earth and then Naomi's stuff)
I couldn't agree more with you, this is Naomi's season, and if you're really understanding the expanse from it's very beginning you have to understand that Naomi's story is central to the story that the writers are trying to communicate, that we're all humans that have our damaged backgrounds and are just doing the best we can with what life has given us. And I feel that the people that don't like this season because it's too focused on what she has been living through just didn't get it, call me pretentious but god damn this is about people, and all the rest, the protomolecule, the wars and everything else, is so that we can see how conflict and fear affects us all in so many different ways. Is that so different from what we are all living right now?
I don’t know what might be going on internally but I do believe she has severe burns from solar radiation. Also shock, and whatever physical fall out comes with the highly oxygenated blood she injected herself with to make that leap.
Ahh I'm thinking you didn't catch the outro. But I don't have to be too sad cuz I know you're ahead on Patreon so you know what she was doing in your present time lol.
Naomi's injuries would be consistent with "The Bends" suffered from deep sea divers rising too fast, plus a touch of frostbite on the extremities (ears, nose, fingertips) and a light UV sunburn on exposed skin.
This episode is a hard watch every time. Naomi is amazing and that scream from Drummer messes me up, she has lost Ashford, Fred and now thinks Naomi is dead 😭 Did you pick up on Naomi's adjusted message?
Unfortunately, the Season 6 was filmed with a lower budget and during the COVID, there is a lot of issues with it. It's not awful, no. But seasons 3 and/or 5 are considered to be the best ones by many fans. There are also some issues with the Season 5 ending. Can't say more for now. Please just... be advised. Great reaction, as always, sir. Season 5 is not over, so keep your sedatives or antidepressants of whatever, somewhere close 😀
Idk how the science error of calling the shuttles "suborbital" made it through. Suborbital would just go from one point on Earth to another, but not into orbit or anywhere farther
Filip did not see her make it. Why do you think so? Filip was behind the inner airlock door and couldn't get in because Cyn's dead body was blocking the outer door. All he saw was her jumping out the airlock.
regarding what you said at the end about actors not committing because they feel that the script is hokey, i felt this way with Rosamund Pike in Wheel of Time. She'd never done fantasy before that as far as i know and you can see her struggle especially with the spellcasting. that's why i never bought into it and stopped watching halfway thru the first season. apparently it got "better" and my wife still watches up to now.
I don't think Filip did see her make it. He was stopped at the internal bulkhead door which didn't have a view of where she ended up. he just saw her jump and didn't see her pop herself with the O2 booster or make it to the Chet. The last thin Cyn saw was her betraying them again to a degree so that is kind of a bummer but she is in the right for the most part.
Not one Emmy nomination for Dominique… 🤬
THIS ^^^
Inexcusable. Some of the finest acting I've ever experienced. Raw, nuanced and utterly heart wrenching.
Thank you for watching, my friend!
Not one for any of them. Not even for cinematography, sound, or special effects. The Expanse was totally shut out. Criminal.
Scifi shows often get overlooked unfortunately....
Not even for costume design for Avasarala!!!
@@kirkdarling4120 Criminal is the exact word for it!
Dominique Tipper should have gotten an Emmy for this season.
I would if I could give you a hundred million thumbs up for this comment. Assume you received them. 😃
Still can't fathom how she's basically unknown outside of the Expanse. She's phenomenal.
Honestly, all the women in this show are amazing. The whole cast, really.
I thought she should've at least gotten a nomination. Also, She showed up in Apple's Godzilla show, Monarch. And she was kind of a bad guy. That was a fun twist. It was great to see her in sometime else.
Emmy judges only watch 3 shows a year and watch The Bear and White Lotus twice.....

Plus inflammation and fluid in her lungs (pneumonia), and things like The Bends
@@dapeach06 Yes, nitrogen bubbles in your joints make moving super painful.
Also if I remember correctly, the ship she's on is burning at more than 1G, might even have been 2G, but I'm not sure.
"I drink when I'm angry... not sad..." - Drummer.
Some people forget that line, because it doesn’t seem super important at the time, until this scene.

She can't do this too much, or she'll run out of air.
Correct. Which is also why she is making the absolute most out of every trip in between the hulls

It really shows us how much of a genius she is.
@@orink.1083 and they set up the practiced-skill accuracy of Naomi's zero-g leaps when she rescued Lucia in S4

She was not raised to be bad, she was raised to be a good girl. Being evil was outside her actual character.
I love your appreciation, thanks for reacting!
"This is Naomi Nagata of the Rocinante... Tell James Holden I am in... control." What a fucking badass genius.
Science fiction, unlike other genres, is an entirely curated reality.
For me this season is the one that solidified Naomi as the hero of the entire series.
