You uploaded this video 6 hours ago and I had already watched this 3 times! 😂 Your voice is so relaxing. The tips are very useful, Tana! Although I am not on Etsy but these tips are applicable to start small home based business! Thank you for that! Ps: I have never commented so much on a UA-cam channel like I have with yours. I am not a stalker trust me, I just find you very inspiring! ❤️
Haha! Aw. I'm glad you think so! It's always hard for me to edit the videos where I talk a lot because I hate having to hear myself. Glad you found it helpful. I so appreciate all of your love and support. ❤
Arrrgg I love how you shared your tips for newbie Etsy sellers 🥰 I’m still struggling to get my shop up 😭 but finding ways to get some products made 🙈I make digital download illustrations for now till I can make enough to buy a later cutting machine, heat press, jewellery stamp machine and sublimation WHEN my shop grows 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I haven’t lost hope yet lol thanks for your vlogs 💞 it gives me a lot of inspiration 🙌🏽 thank you for being you and for being transparent and informative 🙏🏽🙌🏽💞 youre awesome! 😎 anyway bye for now and I’ll see you in the next vlogs - Marie x
You're welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful! I'm going to try to talk more regularly because several people have said this 🙈. My next studio vlog is in 45 minutes 😊
I have been wanting a Glowforge since it was on Kickstarter. For the past few years I have been wood burning ornaments, cutting boards and key chains by hands, so this would be huge for me. I also want to get into acrylic jewelry too. I will be ordering a pro in the next few days using your link 😁 I’m both excited and so nervous because of the cost. Anyways I wanted to know what table you’re using for your Glowforge and if you are liking it? I was recently looking at getting some ikea desks to maximize space in my craft room, but wasn’t sure if they would be sturdy enough.
A glowforge would definitely help streamline your workflow and maximize the amount of items you produce! I was very scared too but had been wanting it for a long time. As long as you get to creating as much as you can and start listing a bunch of good quality items, you'll make your money back in no time! Ornaments and cutting boards are also so popular on Etsy for gifting and ornaments is what really Kickstarted me paying off my glowforge back. The possibilities are seriously so endless with one and the only way you wouldn't make your money back is if you just let it sit there lol. I just made my own desk using the basic white corner desk top from ikea with the white metal legs and it's held up just fine. I only used a corner one because I vent my glowforge out the window and the window is in the corner, but the tabletop also ended up being wide enough for me to be able to prop up a bunch of plywood/acrylic in between the glowforge and the wall as you may be able to see in some of my videos. It would be nice to have a drawer unit though or something with shelves underneath so I could place more materials under it though. Congrats on getting your glowforge soon! If you have any questions, message me on my @pottymouthjewelry Instagram and I'll try to help out as much as possible 🤗
The Glowforge is an amazing investment and more than pays for itself. I've had mine for over 4 years now and I absolutely love it !! The community is wonderful too ☺️
Tana Makes I don’t know why I didn’t get a notification for this, but thank you for replying. I ordered my glowforge yesterday with your link!! I’m so excited, and can’t wait for it to come! Thanks for the info on the ikea desk. It’s good to know that it works just fine. I’m totally going to instagram right now and following you!
@@thelittlekumquat8014 No problem! I got an email from glowforge saying someone had used it, so I figured it might have been you! I'm so excited for you! Feel free to DM me on my potty mouth instagram and let me know if you need any help with anything when it arrives 🤗
Whoooopp! Finally! So excited to watch thiss and it's verryyy useful. I have been spending the whole day quiet worried that the business wouldn't work out well. But i'll never know if i never try right? Hahah anywaysss thanksss a bunchh for this video!!💗💗
Starting is always the hardest part but you can't let fear hold you back. And if you continue to persevere and give it your best, there's no way to go but up. 😊
Thank you so much for the information, this video is great! You are really an inspiration for small business. I am so impressed about how organized you are and the quality of your products ❤️, thanks God that I found your channel. I would like to open my Etsy shop but I am so scared about it. I have been spending to much money in materials and I don’t really know if I will be able to do it 🤦♀️
Love these vlogs, found you yesterday!!! Also I was watching an old vlog and you were asking about how to package I think stickers or something, you were using plastic. I recommend “glassine bags” they are fully bio-degradable and also inexpensive x Edit- sorry I’ve just seen you used a glassine bags 1 min into the video 😂
Thank you! Haha! It was probably me talking about how the polishing cloths come wrapped in plastic but I was finally able to find them without plastic in this vlog. I've never purposely wrapped anything in plastic.
Thank you for your tips Tana! I already sell on Etsy so I have experience with it, but it's always good to hear what other people's experiences are 🙌 Keep making vlogs, they inspire me to make and post my own studio vlogs 💕
I have just come across your channel and I’m so glad I did. You really know your stuff and have clearly worked hard to build a cohesive brand. You have thought about the environmental impact of your business, the customer experience and you take pride in what you do - and so you should! Do you have any formal training/education in marketing or business? If you do then you’ve taken on everything you were taught really well and if you don’t have any then I’m even more impressed with your work because you have taught yourself amazingly and maybe you also have a natural talent for these things. On top of all of that, your videos are really calming and relaxing to watch. Maybe you are new to speaking in front of a camera so it may partially be nerves? But it works because you have a soft voice that is lovely to listen to and you have so much insight and knowledge to spill so even more reason to listen. Thank you for your videos - you are doing great and you seem like an amazing woman and lovely human being.
Thank you so much for your sweet words and appreciation. Your comment made my day and I actually read it to my mom who I'm visiting and she almost cried. I don't have any formal training/education in business or marketing - I went to school for graphic design and web development (which I didn't learn much from 😅), but learned the majority of what I know on my own and through some work experience. I love how many free resources are out there and love surfing the web and youtube to learn whatever I can. I'm pretty shy and soft-spoken naturally and definitely need more practice in front of the camera, but I do simply just like speaking more calmly since that's what I prefer when I watch videos. Thank you again for your support and comment. You sound like a lovely human being as well!
That is so heartwarming ☺️ I'm so glad that it made both of you happy. You've inspired me to focus on my branding. I still have a lot to learn but I'm looking forward to learning it. 💛
Love your youtube channel! so interesting to see the behind the seen of a business, you make me want to have a studio where i can create, just like yours :)
Yes, but I'm not making much more now than when I quit my full time job a few years ago yet. It's been a journey and I've seen the most growth this year, but I'm glad to be supporting myself 😊
hi ... i really love your videos and your etsy is amazing too..Your voice is really soothing and the tips very informative. Do you provide shipping to Dubai and Kenya for the etsy products? I would love to get a necklace soon.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you are enjoying my videos 😊. Unfortunately the US postal system is really struggling right now, so I've temporarily stopped accepting international orders. Hopefully things will get back to normal and I can start offering it again soon. 💜
@@TanaMakes sure... let me know then.. Maybe you can let us know during a video shared... Also i finally noticed you place the go pro on your head (that's why you had an imprint in the previous video).. I had really wondered how you did those clips... all are super awesome... can't wait for more
Thank you so much for this video! Also, since you're on Etsy.. did you have to register with the IRS? Or does Etsy do that all for you? I am wanting to be a sole proprietor, since I get like 2-4 hand stamp orders a month from close family members, so I didn't know how to start to make it "legal", before I sell beyond my close family members.
There's a tax information section on etsy but etsy only sends you tax info if you made more than $20,000 in a year, so you would have to report to your accountant yourself how much you made if you didn't make enough to get a form from etsy. As a sole proprietor, you can just use your social as your tax ID.
You seem like such a sweet person. I wish I could meet you in person. 😊😊 Sorry that sounds kinda stalkerish. All I wanted to say is that you have a lovely personality. We could use more of you in the world.
Aw, thank you so much for the sweet comment! I appreciate you watching and am glad you enjoy my personality. I'll keep creating more videos like this so I can be with you all virtually 🤗
I get plain tissue paper from ecoenclose and use their 8.5x11 label sheets to make my own eco-friendly stickers with my cricut since it's much cheaper than buying their custom eco-friendly stickers. But that's just because I like getting recycled/recyclable stuff. I'm sure there are places that are even cheaper to get in bulk.
Love your studio vlogs!!! They are goals!!!!
Thank you! Didn't do as much making and packing in this one but hope you find it helpful 🤗

Hi there. Do you use a stamping press for the bracelets or do you prefer to hand stamp?
Hello! I use a stamping press. It gives the same effect as doing it completely by hand with a hammer but much easier and more accurate.
