Man Arrested After Stealing $1,700 Worth of Legos: Cops

- Cops say a 22-year-old man was arrested after stealing more than $1,700 worth of Legos from a Target in Upland, California. They believe the suspect may be responsible for more Lego thefts in other California counties. Some Lego sets can cost upwards of $240 including limited edition Star Wars Lego sets. The motive? Its resale value. “It's real easy for them to re-sell it and many of them know the law,” said CARRT Spokesperson Matt Ross.
The fact that he intially got away with stealing $30k worth of LEGO astounds me.

@@Alex_From_Florida A lady stole Lego from a store. Police found her and in the process found a pipe bomb in her car. Bomb was makeshift firework with nails and bolts strapped to it made by boyfriend. Entire road gets shut down waiting for bomb squad. It's on UA-cam somewhere

I am a collector of Lego and was recently targeted by thieves after my collection. Thankfully I had moved my boxed collection to a secure storage facility A few days prior. All they got were a bunch of empty Lego boxes filled with other empty boxes I was saving for resale value. I would have paid money to see their faces when they found out they stole a bunch of empty boxes. 😂
When I was a kid a neighbor stole a broken rocking chair off of my porch, and the next day it broke apart while the neighbor was sitting in it. Right in front of everyone this dude went from rocking to sitting on the floor in half a second. The most ridiculous part is that he wanted to fight my stepdad because he thought it was left as bait to make him look dumb

It seems the problem with theft was increased the prices by Lego itself, so the theft couldn't afford it, or he tries to sell. Also the plural is "Lego" not Legos, you can say Lego sets

Almost 15 years ago my storage locker was broken into and a good 1/4 of my stuff was taken… among the collectibles taken was a large bag of LEGO stormtroopers; many with megaphone style guns and a decent chunk with the more modern blasters. 320 or so of them total. I’d been buying them online at the time for roughly $3/each in lots over the past few years, but they were going for about $5 each by the time of the theft. When the cops realized that they were dealing with the Fence/middleman, they informed him that just the bag of stormtroopers alone was felony grand theft and apparently he became really really chatty about who he got my stuff from and how to reach him
My buddy was periodically checking eBay for specific harder to find stuff that I had lost and the 3rd time he called asking about some stuff, one of them being my Super GoBots deluxe Stacks that he’d done a review on years prior, he saw other listings from the same seller that also matched my missing items list, all from a seller 2 towns over saying he was selling items from an estate
They ultimately caught the thief, but he made bail and skipped his hearing, so as far as I’m aware he still has that warrant in effect.
Overall about $15,000 or so worth of stuff was taken and I was fortunate enough to get a majority of it back. Some stuff was long gone or the Fence simply denied having anything else… which I should’ve pressed more the night that the cops helped me retrieve what he had
I know it’s just stuff, but it is *MY* stuff, that ~I~ acquired over many many years with money that I worked (relatively) hard for
