That's my worry as well; I always try to minimize the phone's exposure to high temperature because they shortens the service life of the battery. I don't even use any of the new high capacity wired chargers for the same reason.

Not a sporty vehicle at all but when you prioritize luxury Lincoln is the way to go. Plus the underpinings are all Escape based so mechanically it has tenure and isn't a bank-breaker to repair if needed.
Agree with the comment regarding sensors. Living in a snowy area where slush builds up it is pretty common in winter to loose a lot of the front end tech as slush builds. Even cruise can be affected.
I can confirm this. It usually happens a few times per winter when you get that wet snow/slush that builds up on the front of the vehicle. Sets off the lights on the dash and disables some of those features.
@@marclangman4836 Subaru's system doesn't suffer from the same issue as it is camera based instead of radar based (assuming you keep your windshield clear, which is pretty necessary regardless).

The major issue with trax i have is that its got a wet timing belt - which is probably going to need servicing every 40K. Considering its not easy to get into, it can get expensive if you're not doing it yourself (which most people won't).
I'll solve everyone's need for parking sensors. Simply always back into a parking stall, then you can use your back up camera and mirrors. It also eliminates risk of backing out of a stall because when you back in you are blocking oncoming traffic with your vehicle.
In an ideal parking world, that would make sense but I’m sure you know that not every stall is designed to be backed into, and that’s not considering traffic and other road conditions street directions.
With both of you being Android phone users the AA Wireless adapter is amazing. I use it in both my cars, we have multiple phones and they all connect without issue. Perfect for around town driving. If I'm going on a long road trip, I will still plug in for charging.
When I test drove Mazda CX-5 signature trim, I was truly impressed with HD quality HUD and how the camera would automatically turn on when you make a tight turn close to another object. Same with CX-50 test drive
FYI, we have a 2020 Canadian CX5 GT. Regarding the slow boot time of the infotainment. It does take about a minute. But Zack said the reverse camera won't come up during the boot and that isn't the case. I can start the car, and immediately put the vehicle in reverse and see the camera. I do this almost daily. I'll back out, long driveway, and I'll start driving down the road and the infotainment screen is just finished booting. Just an FYI

Speaking of dealer trades and shipping costs. I worked as a “driver” at both a truck dealership and a luxury car dealership in Ohio. The cost for shipping on a dealer trade is almost nil. In many cases “drivers” are retirees looking for work and accepting minimum wage pay. To do a dealer trade between two dealers one hundred miles apart could cost maybe 4 hours at $14 per hour. Less than 60USD . The upside for me was driving Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW, Maserati as part of a job.
No front parking sensors on my Crosstrek cost me over $2,000. Could have been more but my daughter knew the owner of the car she hit. We are interested in another similarly sized vehicle, but the lack of sensors are a factor. Sensors are especially important this time because our daughter will be living in a big city. They are especially helpful when parallel parking in the city or when in newer parking garages that label every spot as ‘compact.’ Vancouver’s garages are like this.
I will take a heated steering wheel over heated seats any time. My wife might disagree. I use the Motorola Wireless AA adapter on my 2024 Subaru and it works great. And I have heard good things about the AA Wireless adapter.
When I wanted my Tacoma, the dealer didn't have any so they did a "trade" with another dealer to take an order for the right truck that dealer had. Not sure what they had to give up to get that dealers order but I did get my truck.
About the reason for having front parking sensors even though we have eyes, it's because depth perception are not the same for all humans. Some people have depth perception issue but not to the point of being considered an illness, they can still drive but will measure distance with tricks, i.e looking at certain things likes bumper, etc. Those tricks might not work in parking, depending on the parking location. Also, there are depth perception illness that prohibited people from driving. Hence, having more sensors are fine, maybe at some points it will be good enough to enable people with depth perception illness to drive.
@@marclangman4836 To the extents that it counts as an illness, yes. For minor extent, it’s a trouble to park in tight space. Don’t know if you ever park in Asia or France, I have seen several cases where it takes 2-5 mins constantly moving back and forth for parallel parking. Having a sensor would help a lot in those cases
Honda doesn’t offer wireless CarPlay on base models either. Usually you need to go up a couple trims. They also still use tiny 7” screens. Even in the updated Civic. It’s not a good look.
I like the Chevy trax. The only thing I’m not sure about is if you buy it instead of leasing it how reliable the engine is going to be. One thing a lot of people don’t realize is it’s a very small engine and it’s also a timing belt motor so the timing belt needs to be changed and it could be quite expensive Service if you keep the vehicle for a long time.
When I was selling Fords I often spent a lot of time on the computer checking stock at other dealerships. The furthest I had to go from Vancouver to get an F350 for a customer was Fort St. John. We put a lotman on an airplane, gave him $100 and a credit card, and he was back in Vancouver the next day. Mostly we traded or bought cars from local lower mainland dealerships. It was standard practise then in the 80's and 90's. I would expect it to be true today.
One thing I point out that many don't realize. If the gas tank size is similar, you are not paying for cheaper gas, you are paying for more TIME. Something you cannot get back. You got to the gas station less.

I prefer wired, as opposed to Android auto and Apple carplay. In fact, I prefer a small old-school auxiliary hit for my 7th Gen iPod classic. (Which they don't put in vehicles anymore.) The amplifier in my iPod is far better than the majority of cell phones, and I can build play lists much easier. Zack, your comments on the Civic Hybrid are incorrect. To start, there's no conventional transmission at all, it's a slick direct drive gearbox like an EV, with Honda using two electric motors, one drives the car and the other charges the battery. The engine does not run at all times as you've stated, in fact, when driving around the city with a charge still on the battery you're in EV mode, just like an EV. When the battery depletes, engine recharges it via generation motor. Overall, there's 3 driving modes: #1 - EV Mode. Off line acceleration and in normal driving conditions under roughly 75 km/hr. The battery powers the drive motor, no gasoline is used. You're in 100% EV only mode. #2 - Hybrid drive mode. When strong acceleration occurs, the generation Motor runs at optimum fuel-efficiency to create electricity, with the Drive Motor providing acceleration. #3 - Engine Drive Mode. When high speed driving is cruising, like on the highway, the engine runs at optimum fuel-efficiency to power the wheels, and charge the battery at the same time. Lastly, when you guys drive it you'll see Honda mimics shifting in the Hybrid Civic so it feels super natural and same as ICE, minus the negatives you'd find in a traditional ICE transmission OR droning noise like in a Toyota's hybrid eCVT. Remember, Civic Hybrid has no transmission, it's 100% direct drive. Looking forward to your review, I think you'll be super impressed. At Honda's price point and with the Civic's generous interior room, it's competing with the Camry imo.
@@djplonghead5403Zach appears to assume Honda's Hybrid implementation is the same as Toyota's and states in cold weather, 'What you have to know about Hybrids is the gasoline engine in the Civic will need to be on all the time." And it will drive like an EV with its direct drive motor. In mode #1 EV only, will the battery diminish more in extreme weather like it does in a regular EV, likely. This would only shorten the duration of mode #1, but it still will be EV only when there is battery charge still remaining. Honda's Hybrid implementation in the Civic is not like Toyota's, they've taken a different approach; even a little different than the Hybrid CRV and Accord. Compared to Toyota, it's more fun to drive and the civic is fast, does 0-60 in 6.1 seconds per Motortrend, faster than all of the competition. @@Chris_6spdI’ve owned 2 other hybrids in the past and a current 3rd hybrid (CRV hybrid). All of them with their ICE runs most of the time during winter to heat up the cabin and the battery. Very seldom will they run on EV mode that’s just the way it is! Likely Civic hybrid will be the same…
@@ztekz The Civic Hybrid is using a new In-Line Motor configuration and is slighty different than the Hybrid CRV and Accord implementation. Civic is lighter and should maintain a longer charge, allowing for longer Pure EV compared to CRV and Accord Hybrid. End of day it will run in Pure EV without the gas engine. And of course duration of time before battery is depleted in Pure EV varies with AC, Heat and so forth, but point is it's unlike any other manufacturers Hybrid system, motor is not always running. Those that run in Eco mode, drive slowly, use regen braking paddles at highest level and so forth will be in Pure EV longer. We've all had pure ICE vehicles and know the harder we push them, the colder it is outside, the more fuel they use.
@@Chris_6spd I know a lot about Toyotas hybrids but not very much about Hondas system (other than the physical characteristics of it). How does the Honda hybrid make heat if the engine is off? Does it have resistive heating or does it need the engine?
In my very congested downtown driving, parking sensors are VERY useful. In the US, I backed out of cx50 deal because only the most expensive trim has one. Why mazda why?
Hello to both of you, I envy you for staying in the most beautiful province in Canada, I am unfortunately only in Quebec. What do you think of Toyota's ploy of not offering the same options on their Canadian vehicle compared to the United States. Example: in the USA the new Camry 2025 SE comes with the option of the large 12-inch screen, but this option is unavailable in Canada, to have the 12-inch screen, you have to take the XSE or XLE model at $7,000 more. I find this very infuriating. Keep up the good work, always a pleasure to follow you.
The parking sensors on our 23 Kia Niro are nice & helpful in tight parking spaces (which seem to be all the rage in Seattle), but sometimes the sensors get a bit hyperactive & beep when I'm at a stoplight, 8' being the next car. Our 22 Outback has no sensors & since having them on the Kia, I feel a bit "naked" at times in the OB. The biggest sensor PIA to me when I have a bike rack on. The Niro beeps like crazy when backing up and the OB (with auto rear stop) sometimes slams on its brakes. GRRRR! Thankfully I don't use the bike rack often as I can fit my bike in the back of both cars with the rear seats down.
I’ve never owned a car with sensors (yet) but I had a backup camera installed with after market infotainment system and it’s nice HD quality. I have mixed feelings about sensors because I know it’s super expensive to repair a bumper or minor scratch if a sensor is damaged 😅
I wld prefer a new cheap vehicle over a premium used vehicle for 1: don’t know how the original owner took care of their car and 2: It’s new with fresh tech and a fresh warranty.
If someone lives in Manitoba and wants a car in northern Ontario, why don't they just fly out and pick it up and drive it back home? Its about $400 for a one way ticket from Winnepeg to Ottawa.
Andrea. I have a small box from Amazon that gives me wireless android auto. It's only about $45 $50. Sure it stays in the car but at least it's makes the unit wireless. Zack knows what's it is
You’ve got eyes! Exactly. Once I asked my 10-year-old granddaughter if when a tree falls into forest and no one’s there, does it make a noise, she said yes, I said, how do you know? She said if you have any doubt, just put a tape recorder out there.
yeah they have lost their minds, and Acura with them. I'm done with Honda anyways. After being with them for several decades, my dealer decided to take my car out for a joy ride (Type-S) and double the speed limits and very aggressive driving, damaged the car, and caught on dash cam, and Honda Canada won't do a thing about it. So, good bye. Since 83, my family is moving on to probably Toyota.
Here in America, the 2024 Club (which is the trim you can option with the Recaro/BBS/Brembo package) and GT come with wireless CarPlay (no wireless Android Auto unfortunately)
I think all cars should have adaptive cruise, auto headlights, lane centering, automatic braking for people etc. A few things more but memory fails me.
Well we can't have Mrs S suffer ☺ On my way home today I was in traffic with an MX5...top down tunes blaring...guy in 40/50s? enjoying Florida fall....the hurricane can be next weekends problem 🤣
Not like the low rear turnsignals on Tucsons. Some chats say if the rear is rewired to make the higher taillights flash as additional rear turn signals, then Hyundai will void the warranty for whole Tucson. Is that true? Legal?
I live in Canada and do NOT want heated seats or heated steering wheels as standard equipment. I would rather have a REMOTE CAR STARTER bc I don't have a garage for my car and with the remote, the car is toasty warm when I get in and getting the snow off the windshield and the other windows is easy peasy. There are a lot of us Canadians out there who don't have garages for our cars and a remote car starter make much more sense. : )
My 2012 Volt had front and rear ultra-sonic sensors and a backup camera. The sensors used the speakers to indicate which corner or end was getting too close to something. Simple, worked in all weather (Ontario). My 2023 Model 3 had none (camera system was to replace the ultra-sonic sensors but then the car as delivered did not have the software to run them). Stupid. Still trying to get a plug in Prius XSE- 11 months and counting. The dealer has NO idea if the car will EVER come (talked to them today).
I really hope car brands start offering 350 cameras on all trims at least as an option if not standard. It really annoys me that I need to opt for higher trims to get that along with other non essential features
Can't you get a bluetooth adapter off Amazon and get wireless android auto and apple carplay? With most cars having a usb plug in the armrest you can even hide it. Am I missing something Andrea?
Subaru probably can’t make the front sensors work. So happy to leave Subaru behind. Got tired of eyesight slamming on the brake in underpasses, tall pines and mystery shadows.
Zack - Did you get that shirt at the Farmers Market in LA? Tried grabbing one for my Dad in January but only size in stock was XS. Need to find new retailer.
I can live without heated seats but heated steering wheel is critical. And For me, android auto / CarPlay (wired or wireless) is just about the least useful feature i can think of. Why would I want any dependency on my phone when I’m in the car? I much prefer integrated systems though some brands need to improve theirs.
Kid's right. Unintentionally, we've created a generation of lousy drivers with all these systems. Folks don't know how to backup or care to learn how, don't know how to use their side mirrors and don't get me started on not knowing how to drive a manula transmission. My 17 year old drives a 2004 Ford Ranger with a 5-speed manual and no technology crap in it. I'm so proud of him!
You are incorrect about the Honda hybrid system. The engine shuts off when the system determines it can run on battery only. The Honda system is superior to the Toyota system in all ways other than fuel economy. (I own 2 of the new Honda hybrids and I have driven a '25 Camry for a week as a comparison.)
What will hybrids and plug in hybrids be worth in 5 years. Resale perhaps should touched on. EV range increase, and price drop, could kill hybrids and especially resale.
There will always be a market for PHEVs . . . Some people appreciate not being married to just one type of “fuel.” Then there’s the valuable option of free market gas stations versus gomn’t regulated utilities.
I bought a Mitsubishi outlander because of your reviews and now you don't seem to recommend it and i now find out it is not reliable in the cold. thanks a lot.

Get a wireless android auto dongle for the MX5. They are super cheap and work kust fine.
We tried one, it didn't work, we'll try another one.
A CX5 even used, is far superior to any Trax.
I wld prefer a new cheap vehicle over a premium used vehicle for 1: don’t know how the original owner took care of their car and 2: It’s new with fresh tech and a fresh warranty.
@@joeneonturbocx5 is an econobox, it's not a premium car
If someone lives in Manitoba and wants a car in northern Ontario, why don't they just fly out and pick it up and drive it back home? Its about $400 for a one way ticket from Winnepeg to Ottawa.
Andrea. I have a small box from Amazon that gives me wireless android auto. It's only about $45 $50. Sure it stays in the car but at least it's makes the unit wireless. Zack knows what's it is
Yes we tried it but we couldn't get it working. We'll have to try it again.
You’ve got eyes! Exactly.
Once I asked my 10-year-old granddaughter if when a tree falls into forest and no one’s there, does it make a noise, she said yes, I said, how do you know?
She said if you have any doubt, just put a tape recorder out there.
Jesse what are you talking about?
Front parking sensors for the win. I won’t ever be without them again.
Driving skills for the win. Sensors just a bonus

I assume these are folks that otherwise smash into things in front of them
Honda’s prices in Canada are a hard no for me. I don’t like anything that much!!
yeah they have lost their minds, and Acura with them.
Adaptive cruise is very annoying. Always switch it off and use conventional cruise control.
Not having parking sensors is insane, I use them everytime I drive
Unless you drive a school bus saying not having parking sensors is insane is rather insane. What did you do before parking sensors? Hit everything?
I will take the Camry rather than the Civic hybrid
Use an adapter and it’s now wireless Andrea. 🤪
Zach, love your The Beetles shirt
Whats about us old timers that dont use Instagram? Id love to get a question in
Do you think the Honda Civic ever be available in AWD? I hope so!
I’d bet $100 it won’t be. If you need that they want you to step into Acura.
Toyota rav 4 helps parking in the space
Well we can't have Mrs S suffer ☺
On my way home today I was in traffic with
an MX5...top down tunes blaring...guy in 40/50s?

Sounds like a fun ride home!
@@andreaspencer9813 ..also saw an older Mercedes 380 or 450?
Love those little cars 🥰
What I do NOT want in my next vehicle:
1. Turbo engine.
2. CVT or DCT.
3. Hybrid.
4. Dealer Markups.
5. EV.
6. 4X4 or AWD.
If you have a outlet where you park, get a 120v in car heater and a timer, save on gas, save on hours on your engine.
@@alsheremeta -I live in an apartment so that is a non starter.
Rx insurance in ontario is insane. Until it comes down I wouldnt touch it
Andrea, go pick up a MA-1 wireless adapter. They're like $30USD and will give you your wireless Carplay and Android Auto.
I will!
The upcoming Nissan kicks is missing heated seat in base trim for Canadian market. Either stupid or malicious to force you buy the highest end
any chance you guys will get a 2025 Audi Q5 to review soon? Or is that ages away.
Can't you get a bluetooth adapter off Amazon and get wireless android auto and apple carplay? With most cars having a usb plug in the armrest you can even hide it.
Am I missing something Andrea?
Tesla Y on the winter ? Pls make some reviews
Excellent vidéo as usuel 🤣🤣🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
You could get a dongal for your phone 🤣🤣
Yes we'll have to get oneI guess lol!
Not fully agree zack and Andrea. 2022 rav is fully paid. Mine is not fully paid . But thanks 😊
Got it near Santa Monica pier
Can one go to Ontario from Manitoba and buy the car of your choice and then drive it home? problems with licensing or taxes?
You pay GST and then sales tax in your home province when it is registered.. Easier to ship it.
I can live without heated seats but heated steering wheel is critical. And For me, android auto / CarPlay (wired or wireless) is just about the least useful feature i can think of. Why would I want any dependency on my phone when I’m in the car? I much prefer integrated systems though some brands need to improve theirs.
Your new Miata doesn’t have parking sensors, so you probably don’t need them. After all, Miata’s always the answer 🙂
Always!
Question @ 17:50 - Answer "Turn Signals" 😁
Cheers!
“rats ass” haven’t heard that in awhile but made me laugh hahaha
Andrea my 20yo daughter just took delivery of a 2025 Mazda 3 and it now includes wireless Apple carplay and Android Auto. The 2024 did not.
That's great to hear!
@@andreaspencer9813 clarification, we added the luxury package which includes wireless this year. The base GS is still wired. :)
Buy a dongle for car play. They work.
It wasn’t a known issue until it hit the first extreme cold snap. How were they supposed to predict something that was never an issue on ANY car before?
@@gpaull2Exactly my thoughts. We actually reported on this issue when we had the vehicle for a week when it got really cold.
It’s always a good idea to read and watch multiple car reviews from a variety of sources. Online owner forums are great to learn about long term experiences.
On the other hand you gotta buy a car you fancy as well as opposed to what others think.
Right now I wouldn't take an Elantra if you gifted it to me. Designed for failure
Genesis GV70? No love there?
I turned my parking sensors off, all they do is scream at me when backing out of the garage lol
IMHO, all cars should have cornering lamps.
Get a dongle Andrea...lol for you MX5
Wireless car play/android auto without a wireless charger is ridiculous. My 24 AT4 Canyon has wireless car play but I always plug it in anyway
