I just got blood work done and my TSH is 7.2. I have a follow up appointment on Tuesday. What should I do if my doctor won’t treat it? I have all the symptoms and I’ve gained a lot of weight. Always sluggish and sleep a lot.
I have been diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism. However, my Doctor did not give me any medication for thyroid even if I am symptomatic. I have been experienced heart palpitations and he give me Inderal to minimize the said symptoms. May I know the natural medicine you mentioned in your blog to reverse the high TSH? I am interested with that details
I have anemia not affected by diet unless eating liver, that started with a fibroid. I would love to hear about the relation of fibroids, breast fibroadenomas, thyroid nodules and anemia and subclinical hypothyroidism, all present on women over 35 on my family. I still don't have a diagnosis of hypothyroidism by european standards tsh 3.3., T3 and T4 normal, age 36.
I would think that normal t3/t4 values are important to consider here. Those with imbalances with T3/T4 and TSH (true hypothyroidism) respond better to Levothyroxine (especially if they are older/above 50 years old) If T3/T4 values are normal and TSH is off then this is why we have the dx of Subclincial Hypothyroidism. This is more common in those under the age of 50 y/o and therefore Levothyroxine is seen to have too many side effects (which is why they don't treat). In many of these cases diet (not enough carbs/healthy fats and proteins - emphasis on *healthy* fats and carbs) and lack of exercise are often the etiology. Thyroid hormone is all about getting oxygen into the cell to increase metabolism. You have to move your body and eat right to make this happen.
Thank you for that. I agree with you150%.. All doctors are just too happy to put you on drugs, and all you be locked in for the rest of your life .. and God only knows what that will affect down the road..
Thank you so much! This is validating my experience so much! 4 years ago I got checked, TSH at 3,9. I was so tired all the time. My doctors said everything normal. I should take D3 and this would help. Now, 4 years (and 25 pounds) later TSH at 7,1 and free T4 at 12. Get new bloodwork in 1 week, with same result we start treatment. (It’s the standard here in Denmark, start treatment with tsh over 4) I am beyond happy my doctor checked everything, listened to me- I am tired of being tired all the time..!
@@eonthinker100yrago8 i startet on levothyroxine a month later (my tsh was around the same there again) and almost all of my symptoms are gone! I could loose a lot of weight and are feeling really good now.. it took nearly a year to find the right dose of medicine, but it was totally worth it. 🥳
Diagnosed from standard bloodwork with subclinical hypothyroidism TSH at 4.51 and T4 was normal. About to get tested for Thyroid antibodies. I do have some symptoms. Thanks for all the info!
Very informative video. My doctor diagnosed me with hypothyroidism with a TSH of 3.5 a few months ago. I had a persistent pain in my elbow joint which he said was due to my thyroid as my uric acid level was at 6.2. Other symptoms I had included weight loss resistance, dandruff, dry skin, fatigue and trouble focusing . I've been on treatment and my TSH levels have been improving.
Thank you for the validation ! My TSH is 2.78 , T3 is 2.5, T4 is 1.0 Endocrinologist says everything is in the normal range even though I have symptoms. Luckily I’m seeing an APRN for BHRT and she agreed to do a trial of Tirosint (lowest dose possible .013) . Only one week in , hoping it helps!
About ten years ago I was feeling very poorly, got diagnosed with a burn-out. I had my blood examined then, but really the worst was already passed by then. My TSH was 5.6 and my Free T4 was 13.2. Later on when I was feeling much better my TSH measured 2.4 and my Free T4 measured 12. Now I'm having some of the same symptoms I had back then. Mainly, extremely cold hands and feet. Tiredness, moodiness. And strangely, for a little while, the feeling that something was stuck at the back of my throat. I'm not waiting this time, I'm having my blood checked tomorrow.
Yes, I've just been diagnosed with subclinical hyperthyroidism 4.8, I've had serious issues with sleep, fatigue, severe PMS, anxiety and recently also told I have vitiligo which is currently only a small spot. I have been told I don't need treatment at the moment unless I want to get pregnant. My mum is also considered to be subclinical, but I believe my symptoms started slowly showing up after having covid or the vaccination. I am concerned about finding a way to make this better, the doctor told me there was nothing I could do but my quality of life has reduced somewhat since all this started. I initally thought I had PMDD and went down the path to look into that. It was only the white spot on my skin that prompted me to go to the dermatologist who sent me for further tests.
I was diagnosed Subclinical Hypothyroidism 2012. Not medicated. Five years from then I develop nodules and its cancerous. I regret not doing anything about it. Than just natural ways and lifestyle. For sure it help. But I have lived with the brain fog, lowgrade depression, and fatigue.. Just today I start taking T3 meds.
How are you doing today? I’m so sorry your dr didn’t take you seriously and your health issues progressed. I just had an ultrasound on a nodule and it came back “moderate to high suspicious”. My dr couldn’t care less and told me to come back in a year to check it again. So I said screw this and made an appt at a specialist’s office to see their recommendations. I have a TSH of 5.33 and my dr didn’t bat an eye at it. He was just like “you’re fine. We will check everything again in a year.” Meanwhile my quality of life admits all of the low thyroid symptoms I have plus now the worry of having a suspicious nodule in my neck has drastically declined. I left my drs appt in tears today. I feel completely brushed off and unheard. He made me feel like absolute shit.
I've been diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism. My FT4/3 are normal, my TSH is just above 5. My anti-TPO level is >1300. My GP won't treat me, despite the fact that I'm extremely symptomatic, I can't get through a day without needing a nap, my hair is falling out, I've gained weight, my skin is dry and painful, my tongue is swollen and I'm so exhausted and low. NHS guidelines are stupidly out of date, I've been told I need to wait until my FT4 levels drop before they treat me and I feel like I'm drowning. I'm at a loss.
I'm subclinical but with positive TPO antibodies so I have hashimoto's. I started Levoxyl and after 8 weeks my t3 went down. Now im on Armour and feeling a lot better!
What I wish my dr had told me years ago when I was diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism: eating healthy (WFPB) may not fix your thyroid, but it will make you feel a LOT better. And yes, I'm now clinically hypothyroid. And I love the medication. I do wish they had supplemented me back then.
Thank you. No wonder I feel better when I take thyroid glandular supplements. I've been without for a few days and can't get out of bed. This is great info. I have had all these symptoms for years and docs always say I'm normal. Glad you're helping so many people!
I have found it very confusing being told that I have subclinical thyroidism, when I have all the symptoms of an underactive thyroid. This has been really helpful. Is it possible to talk more about the natural treatments? Many thanks I also wonder if you are seeing more cases due to Covid 19? I’m in the Uk
I received treatment for my tsh as 4.6. I took NDT, added cytomel, checked rt3, tweaked meds according to t3 and t4. I did everything right... I am way worse than where I was before treatment. If your Tsh is creeping up to 5, opt for the natural diet and lifestyle changes. Meds may not work for you. My tpo is 200, I follow a hashimotos friendly diet etc.. meds did not work, but made me worse!
Yes yes yes yes. To all you’ve mentioned in this video. And those example numbers are my levels. I keep telling my Dr. Plz I no me better then you ever will I live in my body. There’s a problem I was Hyperthyroidism in the pass my blood work even says that I’m Subclinical but they still won’t do anything about it 😩😩😩😩😩
Could you possibly make a video on what happens with each of the thyroid antiibodies and why people feel so unwell when they are elevated? My TSH was 3.4 but now it’s down but antibodies are high, and I feel crappy. My Dr is not concerned.
Thank you for this vid Dr. Westin. I am not in the US and it resonated with me when you said about most cases you hear of Dr's not treating because of 'normal' TSH are outside of the US. I have visited endo's in Singapore and Thailand and have been met with the same, told I am subclinical Hashimoto's and to wait until my numbers get worse until being able to receive treatment. I have asked them (4 different endo's) whether there is anything I can eat or not eat during the flare-up episodes (I faint and remain spaced out for hours at a time, bp drops), and ALL of them have told me that there is no evidence to support nutritional solutions! This is from the best hospitals in both countries! So I am left with experiencing hair loss, dry skin, weight gain, flare-up episodes and recently vitiligo has begun to appear. TSH 2.8, FT4 0.8, FT3 2.1. ( I also have a pituitary issue which may artificially keep TSH lower, Dr isn't sure whether the fainting/low bp episodes are hypothyroid or hypopituitary). Anyway, thank you fo rthe vid and teaching what 'subclinical' actually means.
I have had severe hip arthritis, fatique, poor sleep, tight muscles low cloride and sodium. My tsh, t4 and tpo are in the normal range. I started the thyroid support from the vitamin shop - there is dessicated beef thyroid in it. I started it pending the results because I felt so tired. I no longer need 2 naps a day, no tingling in my feet, - my tiqght quads are getting loose. I think I am functionally hypothyriod. I can adjust the supplement monitoring my symptoms. Your video supports this way - thanks
I'm so glad that I found this video, because this was me last week. I've been having many symptoms such as hair loss/thinning, unexplained weight gain that came on rather rapidly, dryness, brittle nails, extreme fatigue, etc. The doctor suggested blood work and my TSH came back at 5.79 but the t4 free was normal. So she said it was likely to be subclinical hypothyroidism. I also have multiple nodules on both lobes that I'm going to see an endocrinologist about in the next month. Can the nodules cause higher TSH levels without it being hypothyroidism?
Hi there. My current thyroid issues mirror yours almost exactly. Including the nodules. I was wondering if you ever found a resolution. I hope you did and I’m hoping you have some advice as to how I might be able to find that same resolution! ❤️
TSH should always come with reflex to T4. Assuming T4 levels from only TSH is widely frowned upon. Usually, Sublinical hypothyroidism is Asymptomatic elevated TSH with normal T4. I agree though that regardless of TSH or T4 levels if symptoms are clinically present and obvious in the exam then Thyroxine is definitely needed. TSH + T4 should be checked every 6 weeks to 3 months and watch for symptoms of exogenous hyperthyroidism.
I have subclinical hypothyroidism with positive antibodies. My TSH was 6.48. My doctor said he wants to monitor it by doing regular blood tests every 3 months. I am not happy about that because I have had so many symptoms from years and just now I was diagnosed and I want to do something about it. So I am looking for another doctor now.
Hi. I am 60 years old and was diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism a couple of months ago. I started medication and am getting ready for follow up tests. Honestly, I'm a little pissed off. I was just doing some homework on the condition and I've had symptoms for years. It's only when my TSH shot up to 10.9 that anyone cared. I could have experienced a much higher quality of life over the last 5 years had I been treated... at least in my humble and uneducated opinion.
At 14 years of age in 2013, the reference range were ft4 (12 to22), my daughter was 12.6 and her results showed sub clinical, told by the doctor who knew maternal and paternal members of her family had been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, “even though your abnormal, I’m not going to treat you”. As soon as I found out she was pregnant in 2015 reference range ft4 (9 to 19 ) she was diagnosed at ft4 (9). So with this diagnosis she was even more sub clinical than my diagnosis in 2011 ft4(12 to 22), and her sub clinical diagnosis in 2013. It makes a real mockery of the doctors who put their names to this serious condition, doctors who saw symptoms and probably treated accordingly.
Thank you for your clarification. Family medicine PA here and working up a case right now that is similar. TSH is 6.2 and he is symptomatic. I prescribed improvement in sleep hygiene, vitamin D supplementation, CBT-I for a stressful new job, and will check his total T. The Patient is agreeable to try lifestyle changes and recheck TSH in 6 months. So now I'm wondering I should treat or try to reduce TSH with lifestyle changes to avoid overt hypothyroidism. I'm not understand why a 38 y/o healthy, normal BMI, non-smoker male with no family history would have elevated TSH. so what's the cause? autoimmune? if TPO antibodies are elevated should I pull the trigger sooner on synthroid? TIA.
Got diagnosed with this ,ten years ago with tsh crossing 11 but thyroid hormones not flinching. Had symptoms of weight gain, problems on the front of cognitive capabilities, tad elevations in cholesterol, energy sapping .But since i was a regular gym goer back then ,and active they prescribed me the meds whilst maintaining not to touch them unless i feel a real need to .And i only had it for a period of 2-3 months during this decade .No dietary restrictions self imposed.During the pandemic my levels dipped below 4 on their own .It did not progress to overt hypothyroidism but instead reversed to euthyroid. However muscle fatigue, intolerance to extreme weather remains and im on the verge of considering taking atleast small dosage to combat this .
If I have tsh of 5.168 but normal T4 but have multiple symptoms such as serious weight gain and exhaustion, brain fog etc, and I’m having obstructive breathing, could the breathing issue also be from “clinical” hypothyroidism?
Thank you Dr. Child’s I got my thyroid level results today and I’m at 5.4 and I’ve experienced weight gain and fatigue and I’m getting a thyroid panel next week. And I’ve suffered hair loss for 15 years.
My TSH is 7.5 but I don't have any of the symptoms. All others are in normal range except : Eosinophil : 0.0 10*9/L and Se Thyroid peroxidase Ab conc.: 522 iu/mL
So I developed sub clinical Hyperthyroidism from an H Pylori stomach infection brought on by the use of antibiotics! My first symptoms from an 0.02 TSH score were insomnia followed by leaky gut, and then high blood pressure and high heart rate and lots of anxiety for no reason! I then was prescribed Carbimazole for which I took for a bit too long and then swung the other way into Hypothyroidism with a dangerous TSH of 32.0 and my entire front thyroid has expanded squishing my front neck making it difficult to breath at night along with sleep aponea that you can hear even upon when I’m awake, also swallowing difficulties ! I’ve literally stopped taking the Carbimazole and introduced Potassium Iodide, along with high doses of Vit C, Turneric and Ginger, plus Goitogenic foods.. Do you think I can shrink this thyroid back down or will I need meds?
i had 8.0 and took another test 2 days later with 9.3 tsh, the doctor told me it could just be an inflammation and that i should come back in 4 weeks, ive been feeling like shit for 4 months
In subclinical hypothyroidism the TSH is elevated but the thyroid hormones are somewhat normal. The elevated TSH is causing problems, like blocking LH and FSH release because of the elevated prolactin levels. If your T4 or T3 is low, then that is just old school hypothyroidism.
I diagnosed myself. My TSH levels were fluctuating between hyper and hypo and were symptomatic to both. Extreme fatigue or extreme Insomnia. Brittle nails, loss of hair, just malaise to the max. I've watched my TSH and TSH Reflex to T4 drop below normal and rise above high normal. In addition, over 4 years, my free T4 continued dropping. My most recent CBC last week, in which I was able to diagnose myself, showed a 4 year WBC Increase from 7, 9, 11.9, and 12.5 with a comparable rise in lymphocytes. My TSH was 7 last week. I'm symptomatic and have been for quite some time, and had I not studied medicine independently, I believe illness would be the only constant in my foreseeable future. My doctor behaved the same way you're behaving currently. I've had it. I've now got a prescription for Levothyroxine waiting for me at the pharmacy.
I have recurring sudden chest pains. It hurts but disappears quickly. It happens more frequently than usual so I was referred to a cardiologist. He made me take a 2d Echocardiogram, FT4, and TSH (IRMA). My 2D Echocardiogram and FT4 result is normal but my TSH is 9.5, so the cardiologist referred me to an endocrinologist.
I have a HIGH TSH, normal T4, HIGH Thyroid Anti Thyroid Peroxidase and HIGH LDL cholesterol (my BMI is 20) I have all the symptoms and have since 2018. The fatigue is SEVERE every day from 2pm on. Waiting to see if my endocrinologist will put me on medication.
I have had thyroid issues for most of my life. I have been told over the years I have subclinical hypothyroid, hypothyroid, hashimotos, and thyroiditis. My TSH is 11 and my T3 and T4 is always normal. When I take the thyroid medication, I feel a worsening of symptoms and neck swelling. I'm constantly looking for information on what's wrong with me. So frustrating. For years I've been shrugged off by doctors and told I'm not taking my medication right when it's obviously something wrong or misdiagnosed. I have to keep going.
I have subclinical hypothyroidism. Hasimotos with non toxic mgoiter with five large nodules - two 3 cm nodules on left and three 1-2 cm nodules on right. Dry skin Infertility Hair loss Brittle nails Constapation Weight g Super fatigue so far No high cholesterol High tpo 426 Ab 4.6 Tsh 3.96 T3 4.1 T4 1.14
I was told that I have high TSH 2 weeks ago. And today my doctor told me that it has returned to a normal value within 2 weeks without any medication. My doctor tells that we just have to wait a bit more and test the levels again. I am actually confused. What's with these fluctuations? T3, T4 and antibodies are normal too.
So subclinical is it presenting without symptoms? I have been dealing with dizziness, brain fog, fatigue, hair loss, and weight gain for a year now. The dizziness will not go away and has been my daily passenger since January. I was diagnosed as hypothyroid 5 years ago and have been on low dose synthroid since then (my dose has not even changed since then). My doctor has been grasping at straws and still doesn't know what's wrong with me. My doctor did most of the thyroid tests I gave her (I suspected my thyroid was the issue even though we "ruled it out" already) and her final diagnosis was subclinical hypothyroidism (all my tests looked "normal"). I don't have Hashimotos, I have subclinical hypothyroidism. This honestly seems like a cop out :-( Side note: my doctor put me on low dose Cytomel a month ago and in a few days I was feeling noticebly better but I still don't feel right)
can low ferritin cause subclinical? would fixing that...fix a tsh of 5.42 or should you still do meds? i also wondered if healing the gut and eliminating possible food sensitivities, could also fix it without? feeling confused
I’ve been told from my doctor I have sub clinical autoimmune hypothyroidism.. My TSH has been 5.37 and then 5.07 but my antibodies are just over 500 at 507. I have so many symptoms and have been told to deal with it and they will see me in a year. I deal with so many symptoms and they don’t care. It’s degrading because they have commented on my age being younger it’s not possible for me. Yet runs in my family for generations and has gone younger over the years. But my doctors don’t care so I guess I’m going to continue drinking 4L of water and not sleeping for the next 12 months
Wow my TSH without levothyroxine was 4.99 and my doctor says I have subclinical hypothyroidism. I have felt like shit for an entire year that seems to point to thyroid, but my doc says my thyroid is "fine". I have no antibodies to indicate I have Hashi's. I don't know what to do at this point.
I have been diagnosed subclinical recently. Doctor just said to keep living my like amd wants another blood test in a months time. Could testosterone levels be associated with this given that you said it happens mostly as we are coming of age
My daughter's came at 0.09, and the Dr said subclinical thyroid. They are still testing her, she was.born with Down syndrome and not very verbal. I'm extremely worried any advice please
I have a TSH level of 6.7 with T4 at 17.8 and have been told I have sub clinical even though I have serve symptoms, 8 weeks on I have been told I need to wait another 4 week for more blood work and if not over 10 I still won't be able to get treatment. I also have postitive TPO antibiotics and swelling in my neck which I am waiting for ultrasound on. I am 29 never had any health problems but my mother and nan both suffered with hypothyroidism.
What if my TSH is 2.2 but my free t3 is 2.2 out of 2.3-4? Reverse t3 is 12 out of 8-26. Other numbers are low end of normal range, and my only symptom is anxiety? Would you treat with thyroid meds?
I was just told I have subclinical. Cholesterol level is 216, TSH 8.9, and high blood pressure. All of the symptoms, but my T4 is in normal range so they told me that they won’t treat me. Is this normal? And what should I do to manage my symptoms?
Hi there. Wondering how things panned out for you. I’m in the same boat as you (well- the boat you were in a year ago when you left this comment lol) and my GP said I don’t need treatment (TSH is 5.33 all other thyroid panel levels normal). But the symptoms I’m experiencing are ruining my quality of life. I’m guessing a second opinion is needed. Ugh… it’s never easy, is it??
I've just been told that I'm subclinical hypothyroid. I'm 29 my TSH is 5.9, my free t4 was "normal", I'm neg for thyroid antibodies, I've gained 17lbs in the last 2yrs and I'm exhausted all the time, my nails split like crazy and have high cholesterol. I'm also low in DHEA so my doctor recommended supplementing that and come back in 3 months and see how I feel. Should I try to find a new doctor or wait and see what the dhea does?
THe elevated TSH is very suppressive to your gonadotropin productions. You are essentially suffering from a deficiency in sex hormones. Thats what it does. You need levothyroxine/t3 or both to reduce the TSH to around 1 mIU/L. Enjoy!
Hi Dr Childs. Wondering which of your products might assist me and if you ship to Australia. TSH hovering around 2.3 to 3.1 with a low T4 and low T3 (all “in range”) and high RT3 (top end of broad range) and high Leptin - I suspect from extended caloric restriction through fasting - now how most of the typical low thyroid symptoms.
What about a diagnosis of subclinical Hyperthyroidism...which the opposite of what you are talking about...My TSH was tested at .005 but my T4 and T3 are in the "normal" range so I have been told. I also have cold nodules and a goiter but have symptoms of Hypothyroidism...i.e. weight gain, fatigue, and high cholesterol....Not being treated because "the system is working" so says my previous doctor...?
Hi doctor Chills. We live in Australia, We don't have thyroid specialists. There are some but the treatment costly. We are poor people trying to survive overseas. My daughter just got TPO test result of 161. I had 7 years hashi. My TPO 1300. Doctor dint give her any tablet and said she can eat any food I am fan of your knowledge, I have to listen to your vedios every day. My daughter is experiencing massive hair lost and tiredness. She has 2 years old baby as well. What shall we do? Help us please.
Hi Dr. Childs. Thank you for this video. I am sort of at a loss right now and now sure how to proceed. I had thyroid US a few days ago that found 1.1cm TIRAD 4 nodule. My GP says to just check it in a year. My blood work this week shows that my TSH is 5.33 but my T3 and T4 are normal. I have some bordering on severe hypothyroid symptoms (At least that’s what I thought was the cause of them) and I expected a 5.33 TSH to validate those symptoms. But my GP said he’s not going to treat it and to just redo my blood work in 3-6 months. Honestly, he seemed like he couldn’t care less and I could tell from the moment the appt began that he was set on not doing anything about it. I realize in the grand scheme of thing hypothyroidism is the least of his concerns. But if a patient is experiencing almost ALL of the HT symptoms and has a 5.33 TSH, would it hurt in the long run to just try and treat it??? I’m guessing this is going to be a matter of finding a different doctor, eh? This comment/question was way too long and I don’t blame you if you never reply to it. I’m annoyed with myself already.
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto but doctor said ha can not give me medication because my numbers r okay . I have high cholesterol, My gallbladder removed because it was full of cholesterol and suffering pain , after this procedures I don’t feel good , gaining weight and additionally starting having palpitations but doctors in the denying not getting any treatment and I’m really concerned. Visited several doctors and nothing. Can you tell me how to get my health back , thanks
My TSH was 5.5 with all the other values normal including cholestrol. However I have got no symptoms of Hypothyroidism. So doc asked me to take iodine rich food for nxt 3 months and take a retest.
@@rwdchannel2901 15 mts every 3 hrs? Isnt that too much. Anyway I wish you good luck. I am also doing a customized yoga and pranayama for this condition. Ujjayi Pranayama is supposed to help.👍
This is confusing I have hashimoto thyroiditis, I take thyroxine and my last blood tests showed normal t3 and t4 but really high tsh. The comments said maybe subclinical hypothyroidism 🤔 I also had Graves’ disease So I’ve suffered with both hyper and hypo for over 40 years and still have symptoms I’ve learnt more about my health from being my own best researcher and advocate than any doctor even professors of endocrinology.. Not one doctor has ever suggested or recommended I change my diet or take supplements. Not one can explain why I’m symptomatic with normal blood tsh 3&4 My diet changed five years ago to plants, nuts and seeds, low glycemic vegetables and no gluten after I asked for a coeliac blood test and found out I have the gene, I then requested a leptin blood test which came back very high. Nonetheless I’ve lost 14 kg with my change of diet, exercising and intermittent fasting. Please explain what the sub clinical and high tsh means in this blood test?
My doctor said said that I have borderline hypothyroidism because my TSH is elavated and my T4 is low normal but hasn't given me anything. I have gained alot of weight and my mood and energy levels are very low. I can only sleep with a sleeping pill. My CRP is elavated so he put me on low dose prednisone and my liver enzymes are still elavated as well as my cholesterol. I am so frustrated. It's as though I have no say in my own treatment. I see him today so hopefully I get some answers. I also get muscle weakness.
Hello, I had my labs done five days ago and my TSH is 18.75. my daughter told me that I have sub clinical hypothyroidism and I see you say that if it’s above 10, it is hypothyroidism. I really don’t want to take the pills and I would like to try to do it with some natural approach. do you think I should seek pills as a must or I can try to reverse it more naturally?
I recently had covid and then my thyroid levels were checked my t3/t4 was normal but my TSH was 16 . My doctor has no explanation for this and didn't seem concerned. I was freaking out! I no longer have a thyroid and take Synthroid. She just slightly adjusted it and said we will retest in 6 weeks. I still don't understand....
Hi, my TSH levels have been fluctuating since the past 7 years. It can go up to 7.8 and fall back within normal range in subsequent blood tests a few months later. I am at a healthy weight, no depression strong nails, thick healthy hair, no goiter etc. Should I worry about my fluctuating TSH levels?
@@shawnpeters2196 I'm still the same. Going on 10 years now with fluctuating TSH levels, but zero symptoms of hypothyroidism. I see an endocrinologist regularly. I have gotten my blood work in the morning. For the last 6 months it has been in the normal range. The blood work prior to that was very high. My doctor says 3 things could happen; the TSH could stabilize, could continue to go up and down or permanently elevate, resulting in hypothyroidism. I'm hoping it won't be the latter.
My tsh is 9.28, the doctor said is ok. He said I should continue with the carbimazole 10mg b.d am taking till about 3weeks, please is it ok like that .
My gp has said my t3 and t4 are normal, but my tsh is elevated, and has diagnosed me with subclinical hypothyroidism and has prescribed meds. I have had alot of symptoms since around 2019 and they suspected ms but all of my tests were clear for that.
Hi doctor, Mine was 15 and diagn as subclinical..t4 was within range on the lower side…that s what they were testing.. is it possble that at some point thyroid is sluggish but at some point starts working well again, how would i ever know that if I m taking levothyroxine every day?My problem started same time as perimenopause. Is it poss to cure this condition? I dont have ptoblem with sleep, never had, no problem with constipation, never had. My only problem was falling hair and hot flushes, as well as rapid weight gain, so didnt know if that was menopause or thyroid. My diet now is no gluten, and rather ketogenic diet. How do i get rid if levithyroxine, diagnosed 4 yrs ago…
My tsh is level is 15.95.I've tested 3 times and got 3 different levels of tsh in a month. Doctor told me its sub clinical.Although all my tsh levels are more than 8.0 .Do I really have sub clinical hypothyroidism?
My TSH is 2.77. T4 is 1.2 ng/dl. T3 is 2.69 pg/ml. RT3 is 17 ng/dl. I dont have hashmoto. My weight is good, and my titamins too. But I have symptons like too much anxiety, some tiredness, dry skin, 47 bpm, 96 temperature when waking up, high LDL, some constipation. Should I take thyroid med like NDT? I would love to get some feedback. Thank you all.
I'm 22yrs old Male, I'm 5'8 70kg. Recently had a blood test and i had TSH value of 4.9. But T3 and T4 were completely in the normal range. I feel dizzy and weak quite often. Weird thing is I live a healthy life, Never smoked or drink, I workout 5-6times a week. Also recently noticed my Blood pressure was getting high a lot, 150/90 range but then goes back to normal at other times and back to elevated range. I really don't know what the fuck is going in when I'm living a healthy lifestyle. Gonna go for some checkup and machine tests soon. Let me know if you have any clue if subclinical hypothyroidms also affects Blood Pressure?
Thank you, doctor.Really good to hear. The TSH of my 12 years son is 8.9, he's overweight but started medication from 17 April 21.What will be the consequences of this medication, will he get better? Pliz answer, doctor
Doctor, how are you, I have tsh less than 0.1 and normal levels of t3 and t3.. Also I have normal prolactin level.. I don't have any symptoms but exessive hair thining and hair breakage... I'm 23 female and my weight is normal... What treatment should I take... Is omega3 and zinc are effective?
I'm 4.83 and I feel miserable. I can not even function now. I also have an ESR of 43. I gained maybe 40 pounds with severe joint pain. I'm exhausted all day. Somebody better help 🆘 me. I have all the symptoms and high cholesterol too.
Hello at the end of the video you stated you can reverse it?? how can i reverse it My TSH is 4.8 FT4 1.0 Total cholesterol is 212 Vitamin D low at 22. I have gained about 20lbs and having hard time sleeping but if i can reverse I would like to go that route?
Have you been told that you have subclinical hypothyroidism? If so, are you experiencing any of the symptoms of hypothyroidism?
Yes many!
I'm miserable and depressed 😭 right now. Help me please.
I would think that normal t3/t4 values are important to consider here.
Those with imbalances with T3/T4 and TSH (true hypothyroidism) respond better to Levothyroxine (especially if they are older/above 50 years old)
If T3/T4 values are normal and TSH is off then this is why we have the dx of Subclincial Hypothyroidism.
It is scary that so many doctors are so out of date on such a common condition
Thank you so much! This is validating my experience so much! 4 years ago I got checked, TSH at 3,9. I was so tired all the time. My doctors said everything normal. I should take D3 and this would help. Now, 4 years (and 25 pounds) later TSH at 7,1 and free T4 at 12. Get new bloodwork in 1 week, with same result we start treatment. (It’s the standard here in Denmark, start treatment with tsh over 4)
I am beyond happy my doctor checked everything, listened to me- I am tired of being tired all the time..!
What was your treatment, how are you feeling now?
Please tell me how it went. I’m going through the same. I know it’s been 3 years so any update on your condition?
@@eonthinker100yrago8 i startet on levothyroxine a month later (my tsh was around the same there again) and almost all of my symptoms are gone! I could loose a lot of weight and are feeling really good now.. it took nearly a year to find the right dose of medicine, but it was totally worth it. 🥳
Diagnosed from standard bloodwork with subclinical hypothyroidism TSH at 4.51 and T4 was normal. About to get tested for Thyroid antibodies. I do have some symptoms. Thanks for all the info!
Hello! how did it turned out for you ? I have TSH 4.62 AND T4 normal! I would love to know what you ended up doing?
Very informative video. My doctor diagnosed me with hypothyroidism with a TSH of 3.5 a few months ago. I had a persistent pain in my elbow joint which he said was due to my thyroid as my uric acid level was at 6.2. Other symptoms I had included weight loss resistance, dandruff, dry skin, fatigue and trouble focusing . I've been on treatment and my TSH levels have been improving.
Thank you for the validation ! My TSH is 2.78 , T3 is 2.5, T4 is 1.0
Endocrinologist says everything is in the normal range even though I have symptoms. Luckily I’m seeing an APRN for BHRT and she agreed to do a trial of Tirosint (lowest dose possible .013) . Only one week in , hoping it helps!
You have hypothyroidism, not subclinical hypothyroidism.
Any update, please?
Can you update please ?
I am the same
I been told I am normal and that’s all they refused to meet a doctor again
I feel awful
I living in uk
My TSH is 4.04 and the reference point was 4.10. I am always right on the line and yet always told I am normal no matter how many symptoms I have
I was diagnosed Subclinical Hypothyroidism 2012.
I hope you get well
I've been diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism.
Thank you so much... my TSH is 5.95 and I totally feel out of whack. Thankfully I have a smart doctor.
So what is the smart Dr doing to help you? Care to share?
I'm subclinical but with positive TPO antibodies so I have hashimoto's. I started Levoxyl and after 8 weeks my t3 went down. Now im on Armour and feeling a lot better!
How did you get your doctor to use his brain?
Did armour thyroid cause hair loss?
What I wish my dr had told me years ago when I was diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism: eating healthy (WFPB) may not fix your thyroid, but it will make you feel a LOT better. And yes, I'm now clinically hypothyroid. And I love the medication. I do wish they had supplemented me back then.
Thanks For giving valuable Information i have 8.4 Tsh now i know i need treatment
Thank you. No wonder I feel better when I take thyroid glandular supplements. I've been without for a few days and can't get out of bed. This is great info. I have had all these symptoms for years and docs always say I'm normal. Glad you're helping so many people!
Yes, I have high cholesterol and deficient in b12, iron ,major hairloss over last decade too.
I have found it very confusing being told that I have subclinical thyroidism, when I have all the symptoms of an underactive thyroid. This has been really helpful. Is it possible to talk more about the natural treatments? Many thanks
I also wonder if you are seeing more cases due to Covid 19? I’m in the Uk
Of course, you can find more info here: www.restartmed.com/subclinical-hypothyroidism/
This describes me 100% but my doctor wouldn't provide treatment.
12/22 TSH 7.5 , 2/23 started levothyroxine 25 mcg, back down to 5, 3/23 increased to 50mcg TSH
I’ve been classified as having sub clinical hyperthyroidism. TSH keeps going down with each blood test, T3-T4 so far have been normal.
Your are the best doctor of the world ❤
TSH should always come with reflex to T4.
May I suggest that you slow down while presenting? As a non medical viewer it was hard to keep up. Thanks!
My TSH was 6.2 yet I’m being told everything is normal..
I was hoping that you were going to mention the natural treatments. My TSH is 2.8 and I have symptoms of hair loss, fatigue, etc.
Did it get better with treatment
TIA.
I have weight gain and no energy and my THS is 4.4, just waiting to see the doctor in a follow up. Wish me luck.
I have high TSH but normal T3 and T4, i have problems sleeping, high cholesterol and visual problems, also i have essential tremors and joint pain.
Same ....what did you do
doc would a TSH level of 4.52 make it harder to pack on muscle mass
Hi my mother has tsh of 37 , but t3 and t4 are normal .. can you advice anything
I have subclinical hypothyroidism. Hasimotos with non toxic mgoiter with five large nodules - two 3 cm nodules on left and three 1-2 cm nodules on right.
Dry skin
Infertility
Hair loss
Brittle nails
Constapation
Weight g
Super fatigue so far
No high cholesterol
High tpo 426
Ab 4.6
Tsh 3.96
T3 4.1
T4 1.14
This honestly seems like a cop out :-( Side note: my doctor put me on low dose Cytomel a month ago and in a few days I was feeling noticebly better but I still don't feel right)
Subclinical hypothyroid patients usually have symptoms. Which is why the name is somewhat of a misnomer.
Just today told, 4.9, told nothing to worry about, although very fatigued.
can low ferritin cause subclinical? would fixing that...fix a tsh of 5.42 or should you still do meds? i also wondered if healing the gut and eliminating possible food sensitivities, could also fix it without? feeling confused
My tsh is 4.38 and my doctor put on on levothyroxine 25
I’ve been told from my doctor I have sub clinical autoimmune hypothyroidism.. My TSH has been 5.37 and then 5.07 but my antibodies are just over 500 at 507. I have so many symptoms and have been told to deal with it and they will see me in a year. I deal with so many symptoms and they don’t care. It’s degrading because they have commented on my age being younger it’s not possible for me. Yet runs in my family for generations and has gone younger over the years. But my doctors don’t care so I guess I’m going to continue drinking 4L of water and not sleeping for the next 12 months
Take your health into your own hands! There are many things you can do on your own (change your diet, exercise more, take supplements, etc.).
I had tests of 4.2 and 5.2 and 4.0. The 5.2 one was Said to be a warning but the NeXT test was 4.0. Should I go see a doctor again?
My TSH has been creeping up slowly over the past couple of years. It’s now 4.6 and today the doctor has prescribed me Levothyroxine.
Has it worked for your symptoms ?
@@shawnpeters2196 yes, I’m so much better. I’m awake and alert most of the day now. I’ve been going to the gym and managed to lose 10kg so far.
I have been diagnosed subclinical recently. Doctor just said to keep living my like amd wants another blood test in a months time.
Could testosterone levels be associated with this given that you said it happens mostly as we are coming of age
Thank you. I feel heard.
What are the natural treatment for subclinical hypo?
Good question.
I was just told I have subclinical. Cholesterol level is 216, TSH 8.9, and high blood pressure. All of the symptoms, but my T4 is in normal range so they told me that they won’t treat me. Is this normal? And what should I do to manage my symptoms?
just like me
TSH- 9.4, T3- 1.4, T4-6. LDL is elevated.
Doctor says no action needed as it's all within range. Check labs again in 6 months. 😢
Did you receive treatment now?
Great video ☺
Hey doc . I'm 21 years old my tsh level is 6.5 and getting symptoms like brain fog, cheast discomfort etc😣😥 what should I do???
We live in Australia,
We don't have thyroid specialists. There are some but the treatment costly. We are poor people trying to survive overseas. My daughter just got TPO test result of 161. I had 7 years hashi. My TPO 1300.
Doctor dint give her any tablet and said she can eat any food
I am fan of your knowledge, I have to listen to your vedios every day.
Thyroid medicine for life and that why doctor may hesitate
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto but doctor said ha can not give me medication because my numbers r okay . This is confusing I have hashimoto thyroiditis, I take thyroxine and my last blood tests showed normal t3 and t4 but really high tsh. The comments said maybe subclinical hypothyroidism 🤔
I also had Graves’ disease So I’ve suffered with both hyper and hypo for over 40 years and still have symptoms
I’ve learnt more about my health from being my own best researcher and advocate than any doctor even professors of endocrinology..
Not one doctor has ever suggested or recommended I change my diet or take supplements. Not one can explain why I’m symptomatic with normal blood tsh 3&4
My diet changed five years ago to plants, nuts and seeds, low glycemic vegetables and no gluten after I asked for a coeliac blood test and found out I have the gene, I then requested a leptin blood test which came back very high. Nonetheless I’ve lost 14 kg with my change of diet, exercising and intermittent fasting.
Please explain what the sub clinical and high tsh means in this blood test?
Hi my mother has tsh of 37 but t3 and t4 are normal .can u advise pls

How are you now? Do you get tested in the morning ?
How is central hypothyroidism diagnosed? I have low T4 ( half a point over bottom range ) normal TSH very symptomatic, how is it treated ?
What if I have Graves’ disease and I’m on methimazole and diagnosed sub clinical hypo would my methimazole need to be reduced
I’m going through the same. T3 and t4 are fine. TSH is at 5.5.
Did you end up taking medication for this?
@@shawnpeters2196 I lost some weight and it all got fine, even my blood pressure.

What if you've got a patient that has symptoms of subclinical hypothyroidism, but their TSH is less than 2?
I'm 4.83 and I feel miserable. I can not even function now. I also have an ESR of 43. I gained maybe 40 pounds with severe joint pain. I'm exhausted all day. Somebody better help 🆘 me. I have all the symptoms and high cholesterol too.
