the core refreshes are PEAK. like the original cores were kind of just getting a feel for the characters, but now it’s like they know the exact vibes/style they want everyone to have and absolutely nailed it. they didn’t have to do refreshes, so it’s really cool that they chose to go back and redesigned the characters now that G3 has found their spot. need the Cleo refresh so bad.
Considering Rainbow High is now going for the younger kid audience, thank goodness Monster High is stepping it up. I also liked G3 from the beginning, but the refresh dolls and some others you mentioned are even better. I have realized, though, that I don’t like my dolls too “monstery”. I bought Venus because I love her details, but the intense green skin was just too much for my tastes, so I ended up returning her. I love Abbey’s pastel tons, though.

Yesss! Venus! I didn't think I'd buy any G3's honestly, the younger, baby-face aesthetic isn't for me, I just really fell for the edgier, gothy feel of the Gen 1's....but this girl....girrrrrl, gorgeous. And Ghoulia with the skateboard, adorable. 🥰
Im so excited for the new SS line (especially Abby!) and monster fest (Clawdeen and Lagoona!) And refresh Cleo and Lagoona. I love Cleo refresh because she has bangs and dark lips

She looks like a mix between the prototype and the stock photo you showed (though it could be the angle from the inbox photos). Monster Fest is honestly killing it (except for poor Draculaura!) I haven’t been a fan of any of the Lagoona doll previously, but the refresh has grown on me and I’m obsessed with her Monster Fest doll! i honsetly don't think Monster Fest got a bigger budget. It seems more likely to me that they maybe didn't have to go through demographic testing, since Mattel did that with Monster Ball (if they didn't, I'd be very shocked). So since they have some data on what their target demographic wants, the designers have more freedom.
This was so much fun! It’s an exciting time to collect MH especially since our RH seems to have tanked. I would have to have ghoul Spirit Frankie on my list. I love their shorter hair and the shaved side. I redressed them and they are so cute. I can’t wait for the new Twyla.
