The .700 Nitro Express (17.8×89mmR) is a big game rifle cartridge. The cartridge is typically charged with around 250 grains of powder, in addition to a two grain igniter charge (to reduce the tendency of the cartridge to hang fire from such large powder charges). [3] The cartridge was introduced in 1988 by the boutique gunmakers Holland & Holland (H&H) of London, England. It was developed by Jim Bell and William Feldstein and built by H & H. Feldstein had tried unsuccessfully to get H & H to build a .600 Nitro Express for him, but they had already ceased production. However, when Bell and Feldstein produced the entirely new .700 Nitro Express cartridge, they were able to attract the interest of H & H, which was looking for a new big-bore cartridge. After production began, the backlog of orders was so great that it continued to 2007 and H & H restarted the production of .600 Nitro Express guns.[4]

@@leopoldo3884 if you look on the back of the case it has .577 nitro stamped on it. fun fact 2 .577 nitros were used by the British during ww1 to penetrate the steel gunshields german snipers were using.

Hip firing with it is practically useless, the damage drop off is stupid quick, and the sight is just... Well- definitely doesn't FEEL all that great. But yes, big gun kill things quick and I love it.

You killing that guy who also happened to have a nitro reminded me of some anecdotal conspiracy theory I have. I swear Hunt actively matches you with other people who take weird weapons. I'll go a full day of matches and see not a single bow/crossbow. As soon as I pick one, I'll see an enemy with one too. Same with bomblances. It's funny but also frustrating. Part of the appeal of those weapons is that they behave weird so you can do things that people won't expect, but then the enemy has one too and is doing the same thing you are.
I have noticed this with randoms matchmaking. On occasion I'll instantly get a match with one or two people who have my exact same primary and secondary weapons, same special ammo too.

Nitro is a beast close range, but I only use it as contraband when I find it in a map or loot it from a Hunter. I love the penetration power but I hate the damage falloff though. It took me a few long range encounters to realize that the effective range stat in the game is a complete lie.
i like to aim not from the sight but from the blur outside then flick if you know what i mean, it's easier for me
so like it's a bigger bullet that can one hit at longer ranges, but has a lower ammo pool?

Personally I already feel that $1,000 is way too expensive for it and should at least drop a 750 but I would vouch it to drop the 500 so long as they make the change perhaps of making the hipfire less accurate to force you to have to aim down sights if you want to actually get anyone because then it will be a true weapon of mass destruction but also with massive cons to you as trying to aim it as a monster of a challenge and that's not even to mention the fact that you only have like six extra shots...
I think the price is fine, imagine encountering one each game, would not be so nice imo
It has to be expensive because of it's purpose of being a 1 hit kill rifle Especially with it's buyable upgrade that extends it's range to one shot in most encounters. But i would like to see a minimal drop to maybe the 900 - 950 area
To add to what the others said, it being expensive is also realistic. Have you seen how much elephant guns go for? It's insane. The ammo alone is like $100 per round. I know realism is weak argumentation when it comes to Hunt, but it still is nice when balance aligns with realism

They should make the iron sights useable.
But make it so that it drains stamina while aiming, or increase ADS time and make it so you have to hold still.

At the ranges you fought at, any long ammo weapon would have been more effective. If i had to spend 1000 Hdollars for the gun and also buy the special ammo to make it more effective, id just get Avto my dude.
