I went on a retreat with the SSPX, when I was still Anglican, and within a year I had entered the Church. The SSPX are doing good work. They are plain speakers, they do not sugarcoat, and this is what the world needs.

Absolutely fantastic and succinct summary of both the history of the crisis following Vatican II and the work of Archbishop Lefebvre's and the SSPX in preserving that which we received from Tradition... our rightful patrimony as Catholics.
He is right that the crisis predates the council, and that it goes back to WWII, at least. It could not have exploded like it did in the ‘60s if not. Bishop Huonder alludes to the fact that the present situation is moving away from reconciliation, toward hardening the rupture. I wish that there were many more bishops like him. How can anyone demand respect for the current trajectory of the Church, when the hierarchy disrespects the Faith as it has been handed down?

Wenn man bedenkt, dass die Klöster und Pfarreien schliessen müssen, weil es keine Berufungen mehr in der Amtskirche gibt, überall fehlt es an Priester...und in der sspx erhält man Schreiben zur Spende für einen An/Neubau des Priesterseminars, weil die neuen Seminaristen keinen Platz haben im Gebäude. Daran sieht man doch, dass das Herz der Kirche und das Lebenselexir des Priesters die Hl. Messe ist...und die Liturgie der neuen Messe des 2.Vatikanischen Konzils einfach keine Berufungen anzieht und die Herzen der Menschen nicht berührt.
The Bishop is well aware of the destruction of the church from within, and clearly confirms that fact while showing the genius and sound doctrine of Archbishop Lefebvre, and the error of his persecution. Thank you Bishop Huonder.
For there to be any chance of changes in favour of traditional doctrine, there would have to be hundreds of bishops like him, but he is an isolated example. The modernist Vatican officials won’t lose any sleep over this.
SSPX, FSSP and ICKSP are loaded with seminarians. I've heard FSSP can't take them all in dur to lack of resources. As they grow, mainline seminaries shrink. Why do you think Pope Francis was concerned about the young priests being "rigid" Trads? He knows his ilk are dying off. At least there's humor in all this: a lib calling Trads rigid. That's like an ice cube calling a bonfire cold.
As a Byzantine Catholic I understand the frustration of both sides. The closest comparison would be the disastrous outcome in the aftermath of Chalcedon. Fr Richard Price the editor of Acts of Chalcedon stated that Chalcedon failed to address who is the subject of Christ. It takes a hundred years later for Second Constantinople to resolve it. Mine you that St Justinian a lay person imprisoned Pope Vigilius, removed him from diptychs, condemned the Pope until Vigilius recanted and signed the Acts of Second Constantinople to condemn the Three Chapters. This is apple to apple comparison because at Chalcedon St Theodoret of Cyrus and Ibas letter was exonerated while at Second Constantinople previous decision from Chalcedon reopened and reversed. Heretical writings of St Theodoret and Ibas letter are condemned. Here we find an example where subsequent ecumenical council ratified by the Pope reopened and reversed previous ecumenical council decisions. In 2060s the Holy Spirit might convoked Third Vatican Council where previous decision reopened and reversed. Remember St Athanasius exonerated Apollinarius at First Nicaea but later St Gregory of Nazianzus condemned Apollinarius at First Constantinople. Later ecumenical council ratified by Pope has power to reopen and reverse previous decision from an ecumenical council.
More and more bishops and cardinals are (re)discovering the Latin Mass and finding spiritual nourishment. Not all can be named because it's not public information yet, but the list is growing. What Lefebvre created was a society that fulfilled the intentions of the Second Vatican Council: a renewed emphasis on fidelity to Christ, and an increase in the participation from the people.
As Saint Athanasius said: (They Have The Buildings, But We Have The Faith Of The Apostles) That is also true in this crisis of the Church. The FSSP and the SSPX has the Faith of the Apostles. May The Lord Saturate Our Souls With The Holy Spirit.🔥✝️🙏

I have stated this many times over the years since the introduction of the New Mass: There was no need to develop an new order of the Mass. If the true desire of the council fathers was to have the people participate more fully in the liturgy all the needed to do was have the faithful say the responses of the Mass that were typically said by the altar servers, not create a totally new Mass that so separated itself from tradition!
In my opinion, it is much easier to unite to the traditional Sacrafice of the Mass by praying it with a missal than it ever has been in the novus ordo vernacular.

Ich kenne ihn Huonder persönlich. Fast 3 Stunden haben wir uns auf einem Spaziergang alleine unterhalten. Sehr wertvoll und tiefgründig.
