Some walmarts have separate beauty sections with its own check out register where you pay for your beauty items before leaving. Probably due to higher theft in that section. My walmart just started doing that. I don't like it at all.

It wasn't a certain aisle, it was an entire section. Beauty sections in some walmarts are closed off from the rest of the store with its own check out register. Most have signs that say "no carts." I think it's to deter theft. Not all walmarts are like that.

I live Maryland, and they started doing it here in the cosmetic dept. It is to deter people from shoplifting, they have a big problem with groups of girls going in and dustracting the employees from seeing them. Kohls has been doing it also. I believe both stores also do not allow carts on or packages and n the dressing rooms either. And if you have a large pocket book with you, they have the right to search them when you come out of the rooms to insure you haven't taken anything too. Sorry for long winded explainastion

In my Walmart in east central Kansas, anyone can take a shopping cart into the cosmetic section that happens to be walled off.. A clerk stands or sits at the only entrance/exit and checks what you buy. When I buy shaving cream or lotion for my face, the clerk will not put them in a transparent lock box. Most other items in the cosmetic section can be expensive; therefore, those items will be locked in the box and a customer will take that box to the front register where the clerk unlocks the box and scans the items. I will add the aisles in the cosmetic section seem narrower than the other aisles; therefore, some people park their carts near the entrance.

At least this time the visitors made it out of the grocery section. That's only about 20% of the store.
7:20 They're in the candle section and WM sells little scented wax chunks that you can put in a hot tin and it will smell like a scented candle but last longer. They're nice.
Kool Aid is a kids drink that vaguely tastes like fruit juice but it's really a bunch of sugar. Adults rarely drink it.
The red milk (whole milk) tastes better. Unless you're an old lady living alone you get the gallon jug.
There are many sections in WM. There's grocery, auto, electronics, shoes, clothing, jewelry, outdoor stuff, pharmacy, etc. Within the grocery section there are many subsections like bakery, produce, deli, frozen foods, flour type ingredients, canned veg, cereal, soft drinks, snacks, meats, etc. It goes on and on.
A sugar cookie is typically just a cookie with nothing else. No raisins, chocolate chips, or anything else. The option they bought had cake frosting on top.
Eggo is a waffle. If you ever see the show Stranger Things, 11 likes to eat Eggos.
Gold fish is a tiny cracker shaped like a fish, with a cheese taste.
It's a bad idea to take a bag of chocolate into Disney World on a hot day. That whole bag will melt into goo.
The WM dollar bread falls apart if you try to apply a spread like butter, jelly, peanut butter, etc.

Back in the 1980s, I was a teenager who was often buying candles that smelled like apple cinnamon, black cherry, apricot, peach cobbler, and chocolate chip cookies. Now I have get a much larger variety, and my sister-in-law and niece love buying them, too. One particular company called Bath and Bodyworks, is where we get a lot of candles. They have some that smell like red velvet cake, coffee and whiskey (I haven't tried that one) cherry blossom pound cake, strawberry pound cake, pecan waffles, strawberry cheesecake, dragon fruit tea, peaches and cream, and many more.
While she was looking at the hair care products, I noticed it was for people of color with quite coily, curly or kinky hair. I don't know if she's going to be happy with the results of the "Carol's Daughter" condition with her hair type.
These products tend to have a good bit of weight to them and some can be pretty oily in order to coat our hair better because it's often so thick and dense. My hair is somewhat loosely curled, and though I'm multi-racial/black, my hair can't handle a heavy conditioner, leave-in or rinse out.
I've seen UA-cam videos of women with hair similar to hers, and even after rinsing out the conditioner, their hair was flat, oily and weighed down.
Maybe she does use and like this type of product. I don't know.
Prices. It depends on the brand you buy. The brand of conditioner that she bought can has products that range from $5.00 to $25.00, plus the better brands of scented wax cost more, just like everything else of certain brands. She paid a dollar or so for Walmart brand bread, but if she had bought a more upscale brand, she could have paid up to $4.00 for the same or smaller size.
She could have gotten Suave or V0-5 conditioner for around $1.50 to $2.00 in Walmart, and for $1.25 at Dollar Tree.
Location plays a big part in prices, too.

Most times the Walmart stores in will have college or university merchandise type things throughout the store that is particularly celebrated in that area. For instance, I grew up in Bastrop, Louisiana and our Walmart carries a lot of LSU items or even the closest college ULM items. And I do agree that the only reason they may not be allowed to have the trolley/ cart in the beauty section is bc of theft. Other chain stores that have massive theft issues are going to have their items locked up behind see through doors.

In Texas, red is whole milk (4%), blue is half-fat milk (2%), and yellow is skim milk (0%). Green, then, is buttermilk. I prefer blue.

They are in a tourist destination so things are more expensive there. Each Walmart caters to the population they are serving. Example, I lived most of my life in Louisiana. There I bought Cajun foods and seasonings for crawfish boils etc. Now I live in Texas and my Walmart sells horse bridles in the sporting/outdoor section. And different areas have different rules. California makes you pay for bags, “environmentalist”, but I never paid for bags in my states. Different foods, sports items, cooking, homewares garden centers, all to the area the store is in. Hope that helps you. Also different prices according to the areas as well.

I was surprised at the $137 too. They are in a tourist town, so the prices will be higher for that reason. She did have a few high price items, like the 2 beauty products, the Disney pins, the coffee creamer, and the sunglasses. Just those items were probably around $35, so that would bring it down where u expected it to be.

Some sections (like the goggles and the Disney merchandise) are based on location. Almost all stores will have some swim goggles, but unless they are near a major beach/pool area, the selection will be much smaller. Disney merchandise is because they are near Walt Disney world. There is always some Disney merchandise, but much less away from the theme parks. Stores in other areas may have a lot of merchandise associated with their regional activities.
Store sizes vary, too. The store they are showing is a larger store, though even the smaller stores are probably still large compared to what most non-Americans are used to.
The total was higher because they bought sunglasses and some skin/hair products that are a bit more expensive, plus just the two pins were $10.

  • @dbgdoggie
    @dbgdoggie Місяць тому +2

Since they are going to Epcot. They are in Florida, probably as close to Disney's Epcot as they can get. That is why there is more Disney than usual in Walmart. Interesting, is that Walmart has huge home centers, garden centers, automovtive areas including maintenance while you shop and Europeans see about 1/3 of what is actually offered. Maybe they are just too much on overload. P.S. I have never heard of no shopping carts in cosmetics. Anything is possible at this time, but I will bet a lot of money that they were not told off. They may have been cited a policy in a certain location but an employee being rude to a customer is grounds for being fired.

The excess of Disney and beach items you see in European visits Walmart type videos is because they are visiting Walmart's near Disney or beaches. you'll find swim sport and Disney merchandise in most Walmart's but not nearly as much as you do in these videos. Walmart's carry a lot of universal food & goods items through their stores but they are also community specific. if you live in the mountains, you'll find hiking and camping gear. if you live on the coast or in a lake community, there will be fishing and swimwear. If you live in the country, you'll find things rural people need and if you are in a city, you'll find things that cater to city needs.

I’ve never had someone say you can’t bring your cart into the beauty section but if I had to guess, it’s possible that particular store has a policy due to high volume theft. But usually Walmarts “fix” for this is to literally put everything behind locked glass.

Here in the States we have different types of milk when it comes to the regular milk. You have your regular full of fat milk, then it goes to 2% milk, then to 1% milk, and finally Skim milk which is mostly water and milk mixed together. I used to work in the dairy section of a Food Lion grocery store on NC and even had a fellow co-worker tell me once she had just a tiny bit of skim milk left in a quart jug at home, she filled it with water, and her husband couldn't tell the difference.

Their are several Wal-Marts out here in California where certain aisles are blocked from being able to bring in your cart, because crazy, drug addict, bums be stealing big time. Some aisles also have shelves that are locked up as to prevent theft and you need to ask an employee to open them up, if you want to buy something. The beauty, personal care and electronics sections are the three most common areas in a retail store where people go to steal. I worked at Walmart, Target and Best Buy back from 2004-2015. Theft is very common at those stores and thousands of dollars worth of stuff is stolen everyday. Bums and hoodlums love stealing from those stores! You will also see bums stealing food from the food section everyday! So, yes, blocking off aisles at Walmarts is common out here in California, since theft is a daily problem at most of them. Walmarts tend to be in the poor or working-class areas in California, btw. Target in the middle-class areas out here!

Not all stores have rules about where you can and can't take your cart in the store (other than bathrooms, that's always off limits) but some stores have specific rules for just that location. There is one Walmart in my town that has all of the beauty and health section in locked cases to prevent theft, and there is another on the other end of town that doesn't let you bring your cart into the beauty section because you have to pay for your beauty items at a register there to avoid theft.
Also, Walmart in general does sell some Disney items (no partnership that I am aware of though) but the reason you see so many videos with a lot of Disney items is they are probably at a Walmart near Disneyland or Disneyworld

The cosmetic/beauty section has narrow aisles and it's very compact (in some stores, not all), so it's easy for people to sneak items into their cart behind or under items that were already in the cart to where nobody would see them steal, especially if they're out of view from cameras. So, as to avoid that problem, Walmart no longer allows customers to roll their carts around those tight-knit areas.

suggestion: if you ever move to the U.S. you're going to want to do 'taste test' videos on products from the store... I would advise to only get 5 different ones of a type of food (example: 5 different flavors of pop-tarts) and do a video on those only... this will give you plenty of content for a long time if you do only 1 a day, as you'll have a ton to go through from the store before you run out of material.... and if there are more than 5 different ones, you can make a second video on them later on with the ones you haven't gotten to yet...
