It is not a common practice... eDNA sequencing typically requires specialized equipment, such as high-throughput sequencers. However, there have been some recent developments in mobile/portable DNA sequencing devices that can be used in the field, such as Oxford Nanopore Technologies' Flongle. So it may be possible... in near future for sure!
