Amazing, this was extremely close. The footwork from An is just out of this world. Just look at the speed of that sidestep at 13:10. I watched that like 10 times and even in slow motion to try and understand what I just saw.
Let's not focus too much on hypothetical Timo situations, but rather give some recognition to An Jaehyun's run. The world rank 157 dude went from preliminaries to the quarter finals.
remember the name, this kid is extremely impressive, dont forget he just knocked out the number 4 and 10 in the world, and another top player in a previous round aswell, he is clearly finishing the year in the top 100's
Crazy match. They stayed very close all the time. FAN FACT: they started all 0s (games and points), they went all 1s, then all 2s and then again all 3s.
An jaehyun has a bright future.Koreans are absolutely improving. They have young players who will be a big treat to team chine soon. And nothing please me more than that hug from both after the game. C'mon you guys and let team China know...
just because he on a single matchwon does not mean he is the antidote to harimoto. he is a beast of a player yes but now everyone is going to study him
Travelator I don't know. Up until this tournament he didn't seem to have very good results as you don't see on pro tours getting to the later rounds or even the main draw. He probably just happened to be in top form right before this tournament. While Harimoto has been more consistent throughout the years in terms of results.
TACTICAL BREAKDOWN: An was just little bit better in every aspect of the game. He was the one, who handled the nerves better, who was better in service-receive game and was more stable throughout the game. Jang also followed bad game tactics. He often played strong in the BH and then was immediately looking for Fh. But whenever he opened to the middle he earned better position for his attacks. And he never tried to open strong in the Fh to change the rhythm of his opponent who only had to anticipate two outcomes. Jang also lost the service-receive game. An received either with banana flick with a lot of sidespin to pin Jang in his BH side or perfectly short which made Jang play long push and that resulted to good attacking positions for An. Jang couldn’t prevent An from receiving with his BH flick as almost all Jang’s fast long serves ended out of the table. Jang did well later in the match with his reversed serve as An couldn’t receive this serve short. In the rallies Jang always wanted to go for his Fh, but An had no problems to block these shots from the Bh and was ready to counter them from the Fh. And when it came to Bh to Bh rallies An was winning them as well. Overall fantastic match to watch! Congratulation to An Jaehyun!

Wow, Rank 157 on the Worlds semi finals, this guy is a beast!

The 19 yo kid is a talent. Mentally very strong too

If you play at 0.25x, you will know that it is still not possible.
So many upsets, what an exciting WTTC!! Love it!
So impressed by this kid - good techniques, big heart and very spirited. Really looking forward to his match against Falck.
It's gonna be good!
What a match and what a great handshake at the end!
And I loved that An bows to salute his teammate at the end. So much respect even after having won. Great talent and great mental strength and values
@@taoufik82 Koreans respects seniority a lot, Jang is older than An

Darkest horse of this championship, this kid is the future of South Korea.
If he maintains this level he surely is.

The future is bright for An Jaehyun. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a fan club already.
Awesome fight and energy from both players. Sad for Jang Woojin but what a great run for An! Deuce in the 7th, this is great stuff.

such a bummer that timo got sick. he would have had a good shot at reaching the final.
And then lose to ma long
"An Jaehyun" The future of 🇰🇷 has surprised everyone in ITTF. I think his hard work getting paid off. Salute to his Coach as well.
An Jaehyun was like Joo Sae Hyuk 16 Years ago. A Dark Horse knocking top players of the world and reaching final round.

he has beaten harimoto before. he's not the next harimoto or at least doesn't seem to be, but his style is good against harimoto's.
No shit Sherlock! I thought I was the only one who saw An defeating Harimoto.
he has beaten harimoto BEFORE THIS CHAMPIONSHIP
Would be nice to have word Budapest in intro graphic or on the floor or in description of video. Anywhere, one place would do it for me

There were someone in Korea playing very good RPB a few years back. Can't remember what's his name...
Ryu Seung-min
Pen holder player?
@@Nicolas-ut1ek Not Ryu Seung-min. Ryu uses traditional backhand. It was a teenager.

Happy for the qualifier, but does he have to shout after every point? Even mistakes by his opponent?
