Thanks DT, that's good to know! I didn't ride one but the build quality seems pretty improved over the Alterra 570s. I was really hoping to see something impressive when Textron took over.. Maybe something that didn't even make a ton of sense like in the vein of a Honda Rune.. Something they built just because they could and they wanted to assert a little dominance in the market... Then come out with something more practical... But I guess that idea wouldn't pitch very well to a bunch of number nerds in a board room!

@@DirtObseXXion Couldn't have said it better myself. I think they will take the cautious approach first, sell some units, then make some more aggressive moves. The positive news is based on what we saw and heard, Cat is back on the throttle and focused on offroad. Let's hope that plays out.

FIRST! I haven't owned an Arctic Cat, but I have driven a few of the older 500 and 550 models, and honestly, I liked them a lot. I thought they handled well, and I liked the look of them. I also drove the Wild Cat Trail when it came out back in 2015 for a day long ride in the mountains in Gaspe, Quebec. Up until then I would never have considered owning a SxS and at the time I thought I'd be an ATV guy forever. That machine changed my impression of them, and I ended up buying a SxS the next year, albeit a different machine. I needed something larger. I like the look of these new 600 machines, and I like the practical features like the engine setup and the large fuel tank. Like you, I 'm glad to see Arctic Cat promoting these. I thought over the last year or two that they were planning to shut down the Arctic Cat Brand all together. I hope they pull off a win here.

Before the market crash in 08, my dad was considering buying an Arctic cat because we had a decent dealer up by our hunting home in northern wisconsin, and he wanted to preserve both of our Honda atcs for his grand kids to ride. Market crashed and we put that idea on the back burner because he was a plumber at the time. We’re still using the atcs to pull trees out of the woods for fire wood and havnt had many issues.
Fast forward to when I was able to finance an atv for the same use, Arctic cat wasn’t even an option on my list of atvs I’d consider because of the bass pro dealer network and lack of service departments for warranty repairs.
We’ve rebuilt atvs for our uses ever since. The only two options I’d consider are a Honda rubicon for the foot shift and the IRS or a Yamaha grizzly if I wasn’t so insistent on having a foot shift.

I don't mind the Mexico built part, but I know canam ain't paying them the same wages as people here in the US and that bothers me. I saw that black hills edition when I was at MLS the other day. I love the look of it and it’s a huge machine. Seems like power and feature wise they’re in the right place compared to the other brands. As an owner of a 2017 Alterra 700, I can say it's a good reliable ATV that has cost me a trivial amount in repairs/maintenance. Aside from oils, I'm in less than $300 CAD for 6000km+.
When Textron bought them it seemed like the goal was to kill them off.
I'm lucky to have the only dealer left in the province 5 min away. But I can't justify buying another when they are priced in the area or above similar Can-Am and Polaris models. And not that those two brands are the be all end all, but they own the market and have dealers all over. And being able to get parts, accessories, and service ASAP is high on my list. Which is the reason I refuse to own a Can-Am, the closest dealer is literally the worst customer service business I've ever been to. In any industry.

Had a 2000 model, i guess its a "mid engine" or whatever its called. It rolled over on my while gradually attempting to ease up a slight grade to get the ATV outof site to deer scout in early archery season. Dislocated my hip, it was a mess. Dad fixed it and kept it. December 15 or so 2022 dad took it up the hollow at home muzzleloader hunting. Not sure what happened, but he was found by my brother in the field next to the ATV unconscious. The ATV was right side up, but the medical examiner found bruising on his back and lower back. Dad never woke up. Thats all i think of when i see the brand name "Arctic Cat". We are in Kentucky as well.

For the second time not even two weeks later was a left cv-axle. Now it is in for have c1306 an c1305 codes thrown. I would expect this if it was my quad because my sons and I ride our machines hard. My wife on the other hand does not. The dealer says the 2022 had a few bugs.

I've own mant Cat atv's since 1998 and they have always served me very well. Tough and reliable. I would buy the LTD. or the Black Hill option which is perfect for my type of riding. Thanks!!! I'm not sold on the Cfmotos and I don't think the smaller ones would make a great platform for a mud build.. The guys who push them also sell them, so just keep that in mind.. If I wanted a smaller displacement mud machine, I'd start with 450 or 570 Outlander.. The Rotax is a proven engine that makes much power than the smaller cfmotos, which will be very important when you add some mud tires.. I'd look for a new last year model, or a lightly used model and save some dough for aftermarket parts..

I appreciate what they’re trying to do but for the quality and styling I expect more at this price point. More thought should be put into their instrumentation for sure. If they want to be competitive they need to drop that price. I can’t believe I’m seeing atv prices hit where I bought my RZR for. Though I really like the look of the new mud pro, you compared it to both outlander 570MR and 570XMR models and said they both don’t have power steering when in fact the 570XMR has DPS, in addition to power steering, it also has 3 throttle modes, and a detuned 650 engine that can be easily tuned to make much more power (around the 62HP range). One thing that the new 600 mud pro has over the outlander is the CVTech clutch, which have been proven to be much more efficient in transferring power to the wheels over the can-am’s flawed clutches. I’ve since replaced my primary on my 2021 outlander 650Xmr with a CVTech and boy does it ever make a significant difference and I have it calibrated for peak power which is 8000RPM. I can only imagine how well the 600 mud pro will do in the deep stuff with great clutches and lower gears 👍

To do a valve adjustment on my Grizzly 700, you will have the machine disassembled all over the place. I hope them the best with their redesigned 600’s. Quite a lineup with real world features people want on a quad.

I don't claim to speak generally for their snowmobile's popularity across America, but in Northeast Wisconsin people up here are in love with the brand and are loyal to Arctic Cat. I go to radar runs all winter and it's basically an Arctic Cat convention at each one whether it's snowmobiles, UTV's or ATV's. My friends here have had Arctic Cats and don't like the Polaris lineup.
All that being said, I'm seriously thinking about the Allterra Mud Pro in the powder Blue brush guard color shown in the video. Love the Black Hills Edition also, just wish they came in Flourescent colors Arctic Cats have had in previous models and snowmobiles because of visibility and, in my opinion at least, attractiveness. They look sharp.
I had been looking into the Argo 8x8's with Alaska Bush tracks, but can't justify that for the price of a new small truck!

I recently just purchased a 2004 Sportsman 400 in absolutely pristine condition and I love it, it's been great so far. That being said, I would not buy a new sportsman 450, I genuinely believe there's enough metal in my 04 to make 2 newer ones, build quality is almost not even comparable. My 04 is built like an absolute tank, and it rides like one too. That being said I think this is great for Arctic cat & the ATV market in general, more manufacturers targeting not only the most bought class of ATV, but the 400-600 class atv has been the Japanese manufacturers house for years, so maybe it will put pressure on them to be more competitive with their offerings. I would love to see Kawasaki offer a 400-600 class 4x4 atv, it wouldn't be hard for them to do considering they sell a Kymco 300 2x4, kymco makes a 450 4x4 that Arctic cat once rebranded, so Kawi I'm sure could easily do that, or better yet make their own atv. Although I honestly heard too many terrible things about the kymco mxu450s.

Rides really plush, power is good for the engine size, ground clearance is amazing for rough trails. Doesn't have good storage like a sportsman but the stock rack risers help keeping everything on the racks. Downfall atm is no aftermarket parts available, that will hopefully change with time. As an owner of a 17 Alterra XT 700, here are my thoughts on Textron.
They killed off most dealerships when they did the Cabelas/bass pro tracker deal. Yet ive never seen a single ATV at our Cabelas.
They shit the bed with pricing. When you pooch the name, drop all dealerships to 1 in a province, and cant buy a tracker at Cabelas, how can you justify a premium price for a tarnished brand caused by stupidity and no dealer support?
my Alterra 700, its been rock solid and little maintenance.AC's have been very reliable and i attribute that to their partnerships with Suzuki and Yamaha
Im lucky that the only AC dealer left here is 5 min away. But with the tarnished brand name and price points, i dont think i would buy another, yet. And wouldnt think less of someone who did buy one.
I think the new Outlander 500/700 pricing has also just slapped AC in the face. I can pick up a 700 xmr for about $2000 less than the mud pro 600. And the MP looks like a solid Mach ne, but Can-Am takes the cake with oem accessories, dealerships, pricing, resale value, and not in the business of pooching the brand.
All in all, i love AC, but Textron has some fixing to do still. And these machines look like a step in the right direction, but their biggest issues are in business decisions, not the machines.

When a company goes through a "bad rep" time in their history, it is often a difficult hole to climb out of. In some ways, I think while "Artic Cat" has name familiarity, it isn't good familiarity (though that's admittedly biased and subjective), so perhaps a rebranding would bid them well. Also, brands have lost creativity. Instead of making themselves stand out from competition (which all brands are guilty), they mimic it. Of course, one can say it is unnecessary to recreate the wheel, but sometimes putting old rubber on new rims will still land you in a ditch. Good luck to them.

Entry quad prices are just too high now, why spend 12k on a 45hp quad when you can get a 79hp 1000cc machine with all the bells and whistles for 10k? Besides being priced up there with the established brands and not really offering anything special or innovative to entice buyers.
