Lewis will be fine next year. Similar to how Alonso suddenly lost some pace when he announced he was living, Mercedes are playing a political game with Lewis. He’s basically a lab rat at this point, the race engineers do not listen to him anymore, they run specs they want to test even when Lewis disagrees-different setups, weird tire strategies etc. Mercedes are trying to preserve some sponsors, so they’ll prioritize Russel and make him seem like the better driver. Notice how Lewis does well in practice then all of a sudden lose pace in qualifying, that’s not a coincidence.

He gets to leave in his own terms and with a hispanic driver. The reason why I’m saying this is because it looks like they have a good relationship and I’m sure Mexican sponsors will want a latino driver to be in a top team.
