      No HT-A9? Sony market is a soundbar

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому +2

      @@clixt984 In terms of the Soundbar category, The HT-A7000 is Sony's flagship Dolby Atmos bar. The A9, however, is in a completely different category all itself as more of an "alternative" to the soundbar form-factor. We are considering another video on this category. @@AudioAdvice I think that's fair to say. I think Sony started a new class of sound equipment if you ask me. It's no longer a soundbar, but it's also not a full AVR system. I just got my HT-A9 and I can say that it's pretty damn good for what it is, especially the phantom center.

    Hey, I tried looking back through your catalog to see if you had a video that addressed this, but it would be nice if you did a video dedicated to how Atmos enabled soundbars should be configured for non-standard/asymmetrical theater room setups. In my case, I'm dealing with the TV facing out from the corner of a large room with 30 degree vaulted ceilings.

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому

      Great question. It will totally depend on how adjustable the level settings are on the sound bars. The ones with automatic room correction would be your best bet for a room like you have. If you get one without and can adjust the levels of the Atmos and/or surround speakers, just experiment with level (and distance if it has it) to get the best effect.

    I have the Q950A and the 85"QN800A I connected the Q 950a to my older 65" 4K mu800 Samsung TV without Q Symphony first. It was very good for movies, but connecting it to the newer model with Q Symphony took things to another level entirely. Gaming is honestly a cacophonous assault on your ears. Playing Halo 5 there is just always something going on in some corner of the room it was honestly a different experience. There is no way for me to turn it up pass 35, it's entirely too loud. The base is good but a little one note. The system could honestly benefit from a software update that would allow you to add a second subwoofer, there's a pretty severe drop off on one side of my room that opens up to the kitchen and down a hallway. For reference our home theater has an sb16 Ultra, I don't always have to go down into the theater room to watch a movie this thing does a pretty decent job. One thing to know if you connect it to a Samsung TV, that little stupid screen they put on the top it's far less of an issue than if you don't have a Samsung TV. Overall worth the money for people already in the Samsung ecosystem. If not I'd probably go with the Klipsch Cinema 1200.

But yes even at $1,299 I think this is an excellent system for those with list Samsung TVs. I only very occasionally wish I was watching something in the theater room. Great question! With the Sonos Arc or any system like this, you use your smart TV apps or connect a streaming box capable of Dolby Atmos to your TV. This type of setup needs an eARC capable TV to get uncompressed Dolby Atmos sound to your soundbar. You can still use the regular HDMI ARC connection from your TV to the soundbar if your TV is older and does not have eARC, but this will be a compressed version of Dolby Atmos. Thanks for this great review. So, what in your experience is the very best sounding soundbar, irrespective of cost? Still the Ambeo?
    I'm trying to determine is (audio-wise) which is the best soundbar irrespective of the cost, but based on sound, simplicity and elegance (which I know is often personal, but what I mean is not lots of bits and pieces - I'm not too fussed by the size of the soundbar, within reason, or having wireless rear speakers, but don't really want big plasticky subwoofers; the likes of the Bose, Sonos and B&W base units are quite fine). The Bose 900, B&W Panorama and Formation weren't included in this review. Atmos is a great feature but for me, not at the expense of getting the basic 5.1 soundstage right. I have a 2021 Sony A90J 83" TV, wall mounted and an open plan living area of dimensions 4.8m (~16ft) front to back by 10m (~ 33fT) left to right and my watching area is in one half.
    I've down-sized from a large house with an Onkyo HT receiver/Audiolab power amps / B&W 600/800 series 7.2 HT system (Atmos, but without ceiling speakers) to a townhouse, so I don't have the space I used to have, but I really don't want to give up good quality sound. I've listened to all the products you've reviewed except the have not been able to review the Ambeo or the Panorama 3, and the only speaker that has actually sounded really good has been the B&W Formation Soundbar + bass unit.
    I like the idea of the Ambeo, and the Panorama 3, but as mentioned haven't been able to try them.

    You guys should review the nakamich shockwafe elite 7.2.4 channel soundbar because I personally have been contemplating getting it simply because of the dual subwoofers (I love my bass) and the fact that it is relatively budget friendly so I was wondering what you guys would think of it and if you think it would be worth it or if I should just shell out the extra money for something like the Sonos arc and subwoofer system

    • @AudioAdvice

      Hi Cameron, we are big fans of dual subs, too! Having said that, Nakamichi makes some pretty nice products, and the Shockwafe is an interesting product. However, in our testing, Shockwafe just didn't make the cut for this list compared to the one's that did. Our list is based on price & features to complement spatial audio music & Dolby Atmos movie watching, plus a lot more. These are simply the best of breed in terms of high-performance Atmos systems, and are the one's that really stand out. Thanks for watching!

    Superb video and greatly appreciated 👍 Do you see any benefit in keeping things "All in the family" as I'm upgrading to a 65" Sony A80J OLED and Sony 4k Blu Ray player UBP-X700. We were shown the power of the Samsung soundbar, and both my wife and myself were blown away. It appears that the newer Sony soundbars have supply issues. (here in Australia and the States too I believe).
    I can get a great deal on the older Sony HTZ9F which is now on clearance, and was wondering if you have any thoughts? The set up is solely for general TV watching, movies, and sports as we are not gamers.

    So I just purchased an LG C1 OLED 55" TV. I was searching for DA bars and as u know they have a wide range of pricing. This is for our Bedroom that's not huge with 8ft ceilings. The one I chose was the Sony HTX8500 2.1ch Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Soundbar with Built-in sub-woofer, Black. Last evening I was doing some research on the TV I purchased and read many have problems with LG TV's, especially the older models 2016-2020. I currently have both of the sound bars your asking about. I’ve had the Samsung since November and got the arc full system with 2 subs last week.
      Sigh 😞 I really wanted to like to arc set up. It’s really good but cost me close to 3k. I am going to return it. 100% does not give you as much immersion as the Samsung. Both do a great job with 5.1 and stereo.
      I only got the Sonos because I wanted to compare and see if I had made the “right/wrong” choice. I can’t not say the Sonos is “better”. Though the setting up experience was super simple, it is still a superrrr nice system.

      @@kayodefashola9226 So I kept the Sonos set up for just under one months so I can return it. It’s pretty great but lacks a certain wild factor that you get from Samsung. Though it does provide you with a certain wow factor in the sense that it gives you more well rounded punch in basic dialogue and sound effects for movies if that makes sense
      The Samsung gives you more well rounded everything it truly immerse this is you in a sound bubble which is I think the most impressive thing when it comes to watching shows and movies.
      From my understanding Atmos can only pass-through an HDMI cable which in this case would be arc/earc.
      Standard 5.1 or 2.1 content sounds perfect on both. Though because the Samsung has so many more speakers I feel it still does a better job at surrounding you in a better bubble. They are both in my opinion intended to be 5.1 speakers with the ability to do more so you won’t be disappointed from what you’re looking for
      Take your time on this one because it’s a bit of money. I would personally say go out and buy the Samsung first try it out at home and then go return it after those 30 days by the Sonos then you’ll see why it’s so hard for me to pick one.
      I also tried the senheiser amebo no that is a movie theater experience! Returned it too the Samsun just has it all. Sonos Senheisser can do certain things better but Samsung has a better package www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/best/by-type/dolby-atmos

      I got the nakamichi 9.2.4 and am returning it for the Samsung q950a. I messed with the settings as much as I could on the nakamichi but it just sounded waterlogged and bad and I think it is the lack of eArc support.

      All of the ones in this video have great dialog. That is the main thing we look for first in a sound bar. You could also try moving your sub further away from room boundaries or even try a different location for it. That can make a huge difference in how the bass sounds.

    My tv is in the corner of a quite large open space - on the left there is a window like 50cm from the tv but on the right side there is like 7 meters of open space - will this all clever bouncing beams technology even work in this setting?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому

      The bouncing around works better in a symmetrical environment, but if that is your space and you can not do separate components, there really is no other choice as all of the soundbars are set up that way. The ones with auto calibration will help figure out the delay better than those without it. Thanks for watching

    PLEASE RESPOND. In your video you said that I need HDMI arc on my TV to get true Dolby Atmos. But what if the soundbar has a HDMI input and another HDMI output? isn't this even better? because I want to buy a Dolby Atmos soundbar to use with my PC which is connected to a TV. I also have another question, if I connect my windows 10 PC to the TV via HDMI, and then connect the soundbar to the TV via HDMI arc to get the sound, will windows recognize the soundbar this way? will it know that it's a Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 sound system?
