    Redemption: It's what we were looking for at Dade City. After the brakes failed at Gatorback, it was time to give it another shot, this time with a more polished bike. Here is how it went.

    I rode nothing but open 2 stroke bikes from the mid 70's to the late 90's. Had YZ490's, CR500's and KX500's. Love to see and hear the old big bores again. This guy can ride, and I would like to see him compete on a well prepped CR500 with modern suspension.

    • @jaydensdream714
      @jaydensdream714 6 років тому

      That is a well prepped and even has the most modern suspension available less custom valving. All makes use spring forks ,again , in their consumer flagship mx open class thumper. Do AMA rules allow 500cc to ride/race as equals to 450? If So like 745cc would be the 4t open class equivalent

    • @jaydensdream714
      @jaydensdream714 6 років тому

      I was literally toeing the rear brake, scrubbing speed entering the downhill right. Coming out of the corner I had to trust those carbide tipped pegs and my soft sole Alpinestars would stay locked as I let all 77 b.h.p. straighten my legs back and set my butt vertical to the rear fender. Just about the time I couldn't hold on any more I stood on the twin discs (same today really. Some guys prefer old cr brakes) and stared at the crossbar till my 22" Dunlop mx4 held rut. One crack of the throttle and clutch pull and it's 3 down. Now pin.. Shift pin.. Shift...
      Goosebumps bro. Thanks for that.

    A talented humble rider with a great attitude. Great Job hauling ass on that beast
    CR500. The CR500's and CR250's from 20+ years ago sound great, look great and are so fun to ride.. Gotta have a few 2 strokes in the garage.......they make you smile:)

    Talented rider on one of the best winning open class machine in modern motocross... As I commented in the 1st episode, this bike makes the average week-end rider feel like Dave Thorpe, Eric Geboers, André Malherbe, Ricky Johnson, J-M Bayle, Jeff Stanton... Remember those guys ??? "Merci" for your footage. Mo.

    Great video love to see that old 500 still hold it's own on the track the new 450's are cheating if you ask me. You had to actually know how to ride to ride a two stroke fast; you got skill's man keep it up.

    Subscribed. You can clearly ride, man. That 500 looked great in the sand too. It's truly awesome to see a young guy like you do something like this. Unlike 99% of 500 owners (old dudes!), you're actually fast! It makes me wonder how far we've really come with today's over-complicated four strokes.

    my pops raced an 86 cr500 back in the day and won on it a lot haha. got to race pro class on it for a while too. i got to ride it when i was young, before he sold it, and before i knew how to handle that kind of power so i never ripped it, but immediately learned to respect the potential i felt within that beast. it was very cool to see you ride that thing.

    this is how im going to feel my first race on my new RM. ive been riding an 07 crf250, and just bought a new 03 RM250 smoker. i love the bike! im 6'1" 145 lbs and the thing wheelies in 2nd and 3rd gear easy once i get on the pipe and the powerband kicks in! XD i haven't gone higher than 3rd gear yet, just messing around my neighborhood "matching the brake pads to the rotors" (; i replaced the front brake pads and used that as my excuse :P the springs seem kind of soft right now though, so im hoping to get that sorted soon(: i cant wait!!! my series that ill be racing in opens in February so i have some time to get ready. haven't rode since i broke my wrist last march, other than riding the dunes over thanksgiving. (snapped my radius, shattered my ulna, dislocated my wrist, and had a bunch of fractures and cracks in my proximal row, and a couple chips in the distal row too... so i effed up my wrist :P)

  • @MrEliasdl

    Watching him ride that CR500 makes me think riding a 450 4 stroke for years prepares a man to rip on a cr500.
    Same way learning to rip on a 125 2 stroke made the abilty to rip to the fullest on a CR250 2 stroke made the transition seamless.
    Too much bike too soon for your abilities makes one clam up. I started on a 86 cr500 as a 160 pound 18 year old coming from trail riding a 86YZ125. Trust me I know this concept. I never got the comfort with riding tracks because i tried to learn it on the CR500.
    If Honda starts putting R&D into the CR500 2 strokes again we might see a higher level of racing emerge.

    Iv got a 83 YZ490 and that thing will piss all over any of the modern 4 strokes. It was preped for the Australia Finke desert race and it has no bottom end power bugger all mid range but top end power ya gotta ride it to believe it. Stock 490s were quick but this thing just wants to wheelie all the time. Its like a 125 in power delivery, but in 750 cc quantities. Bloke i bought it off said it dynoed close to eighty hp. It has whitepower shocks with near 14 inches of travel at the back and near 13 up front. Only gotta 4speed in her, but top gear power starts are no prob.

    Take up a collection! keep the bike -- you are an animal on it. Ricky Renner got quite a few donations to ride his 125 -- you may be able to do the same (with this bike AND a 250 at Loretta's). I would throw the price of a piston you way myself. It is just too much fun watching your races on this monster!
