    You really Need that bottom bearing to stop the blade from twisting and wandering , without it the blade will bind in the wood and stall the motor.
    You may find the bandsaw underpowered if you try to almost double the cutting thickness too
    Hope this helps

    To solve the mystery of the instruction manual you must view it upside down in the mirror upon a cga display adapter while wearing 3D glasses and citing the pledge of allegiance backwards in french.

    Next time you go to Harbor Freight you may want to get one of their $20 carpenter planes. Then you grind the iron with a 10" radius and you have a decent scrub plane for making rough wood flat and square.

      oh i have a few planes already, i just dont really find they fit my workflow just yet.

    I find the bandsaw to be the best all-around saw. Be careful using the riser block, (even though Delta designed it for that, it is sketchy at best, and HF doesn't make it better) 14" of cutting in wet wood - as you will be doing - demands a tremendous amount of power. Even your 9" cut on the log essentially stopped the saw. Continued success with your adventures. PS, all wood dust is toxic - in your lungs. There is no mechanism for getting it out of the micro passages.

    • @RinoaL
      @RinoaL  4 роки тому +1

      i wont be cutting wet wood. my 9" cut didnt stop the saw at all, the log got stuck on the edge of the table.

  • @billysmether6237
    @billysmether6237 2 роки тому

    Go with the 6 inch riser block, 100 to 150 bucks for a kit. You will need a longer blade anyway, so get a half inch with about 3 to 5 TPI. The one you have is a fine tooth. You need that lower bearing block to support the blade. Also for 25 bucks you can get a new set of rubber for the wheels. That will get you the results you are looking for.

    • @RinoaL
      @RinoaL  2 роки тому

      I ended up making my own riser block. It unlocked a lot of potential, but this bandsaw is so cheap and underpowered that it wasnt worth it in the end. Definitely a good tool upgrade to keep around for when I want to cut long stuff

  • @gavindempsey99
    @gavindempsey99 4 роки тому

    The blade you have on the bandsaw at the moment is probably a little thin for bigger straighter cuts. When you're cutting the logs up, a 3/4" or 1" blade if the wheels are big enough,with hook teeth, at about 2 or 3 tpi (which looks like the tooth stup on the blade you have, in fairness)

  • @isaacthomson683
    @isaacthomson683 4 роки тому

    quick little helpful critiques- rigidity will become a problem if you're wanting to resaw larger logs, especially hardwood. you'll need a larger blade with a few tpi count which will require far more blade tension so as not to slip, additonally a fractional hp motor with a single v-belt will likely slip with that existing method for belt tensioning. Last is the fact that you'll very quickly run out of power from that motor as it's likely a half horse which doesn't equate to that much cutting capacity. Also bear in mind that that motor likely isn't a continuos duty motor even though it might say so AND it likely has a service factor of 1.0 which would mean that without stalling it you could be overloading it (because the ultimate torque a motor can produce is not it's rated HP). food for thought

    • @RinoaL
      @RinoaL  4 роки тому

      thats only an issue if you feed it too quickly

    • @isaacthomson683
      @isaacthomson683 4 роки тому

      Rinoa's Auspicious Travails obviously, but you made it sound like you’d be using it on that thickness of stuff regularly. And I think you’re underestimating how slow you’re feed rate will be, especially whiteout getting tons of blade deflection.

    Right On to all that you do! I am a fan of your wonderful American spirit and your sense of adventure. I'm writing here because I believe you look for your comments shortly after you publish.
    I wanted to let you know that Infantile Paralysis struck children worldwide for 50 years. It became known as POLIO.
    Please know that empathetic people worldwide will always run toward the trouble to help. Young people, children growing were the worst hit. The world ran to help youth. It was horrible parents lived in terror when their child ran a fever for fear of polio. Even after the absolutely incredible invention of antibiotics.
    Some of my friends and their parents had Polio
    In 1 of your previous videos you commented about how this present virus situation was getting attention because it primarily affected the old.
    It takes decades to know history. Please know, please feel empathy for helpless victims of disease.
    Please be aware of the ageism that sometimes colors your speech is as important as sexism. I have been a victim of ageism on both sides.
    The world needs your brilliance. The world needs your positive adventure. You are a living example of what makes America the dream of the world. With empathy, Please continue your Grand Adventure and Discovery.
    I wish I could be here in 40 years to see who you have become and how you have effected our world.
    Best Wishes and Tally-Ho, Gentle Person

      ageism, thats funny. old people just sometimes die. its sad but it doesnt mean we should destroy the economy and stop young people from working due to it. it means they should be given more protection while not isolating those not at risk. and it doesnt mean we have to run around like morons. but thats all americans do is run around like morons. id rather not be associated with americans.
      think of it this way, most old people that die, dont lose many years of their life because they are already nearing death. like in their 80s or 90s. i dont get why people dont care about old people dying from flu or other sicknesses but for some reason coronavirus now means we need to lose all composure. i think people are too sheltered to realize how many die from small things each year.

    • @ashlyknapp1798
      @ashlyknapp1798 4 роки тому

      You seem to be a native North American? I believe in saving the young before the old. We don't have to run around like morons, but we do? Although some of us try not to.
      Yes, many die or are maimed or injured from small things each year. Sloppy Morons kill and maim themselves and others each year by the millions in the United States alone. Many deadly situations are foreseeable and avoidable.
      Have you ever read Catcher in the Rye? Is there some news source that you like or trust? Enough for today. Best Wishes@@RinoaL

      Catcher in the Rye as far as i can tell is a very dull book so i wont be reading it any time soon. id much rather spend this time reading books on ancient philosophy and such. like Utopia and Marcus Areleus. even though i disagree with some ancient philosophers. i like Teslarati and NasaSpaceFlight as a news source. all others are garbage.
