- This Sony Pro Video Monitor is a 14L2 model. It needs a new CRT installed. Thankfully I recently received a scrap Sony PVM 14M2 with the same tube model.

Mmm... nice video, as always. I've got my PVM-14L2 from an university, they used them for some video-courses. My unit was almost never touched, it looks like new. Made in March 2005. I'm more than happy with it. Hopefully it will last for the next 10-20 years. =)
So fun to watch. Thanks much for your content. Fun and insightful!
Amazing work! And that Terminator Sega CD music is rocking :)
This kicks ass, haha @ 3:17 Those dangol long screws
Could you make an episode about the best PVM alternatives (Consumer CRTs)?
No content on this channel for you plebes! hahahahahahahaha 😛
But no, seriously, the best standard definition C.R.T. television might possibly be this tv. www.cnet.com/products/toshiba-32af45-32-crt-tv/
My family had the 27" version of this television and Try4ce had (has?) this television, too. He once said that it is graded to have the best phosphors for consumer televisions.
Pretty good idea. I have one of those Toshiba's and they are nice
@@badreality2 Do you know if this TV is available in Europe? (Im in Germany)
@@Pflanzenritter29-old I do not know if it was sold in Europe, but you do have good choices of consumer C.R.T. sets.
First "rule of thumb" is to look for sets that will display 240p properly. It should be 50/60 Hz (Pal/NTSC) compatible. You want one that is compatible with the NTSC video standard, so that you are not playing your retro games in "slow-motion". Buy NTSC consoles too... And the equipment that allows you to convert 240v/50Hz to 120v/60Hz.
Second, stay away from 100Hz C.R.T. sets. They display 240p incorrectly and light-guns may or may not work with them.
B & O had some good 50Hz/60Hz C.R.T. sets, back in the day.

I have heard that this Sony set is good. KV-29X5E
A PAL MegaDrive can be modded for NTSC, and your Sega MegaDrive will then boot up an installed game in NTSC.
Also, bug your local broadcasting companies for BVMs/PVMs. You may be lucky.
oh man, that sound track! 🤘🏼
Very artistic man
omg!! scanline so sharp
LOL, nice intro Steve!
I have this bad boy for my gamecube i have it at 480i the max out put been looking for a bvm for that 480p
Ooooh, I see a nice looking boxed Sega CD in your collection Steve. When I see your background, I have to take a look on all those surprise goodies you got bro. 8^)
Anthony..
Thanks Anthony. I was out this week and found a Near Mint complete copy of Tomcat Alley on Sega CD for $6. The clerk at the store told me he put the game on the shelf for sale 1 hour before I bought it. I told him, yeah it's super hard to find complete Sega CD titles so it sells even the not so good games. He told me they rarely get anyone turning in/trading in sega cd stuff anymore. The Sega cd is one of my favorite systems. May have to eventually break down and by that new everdrive that plays cd games.
@@RetroTechUSA Oh wow. What score for $6 bucks Steve. i wish i had luck finding goodies like this. Too bad 'm in the wrong city. Here in NYC you're even lucky to find a sports game at a bargain price anymore. 8^(
Anthony
I really want one of those BVM´s or PVM´s. Do they come in bigger sizes, I often only see smaller ones.
From what I saw yes but they get very pricey.
Nice job. Working on setting the convergence on a Toshiba Timm Mm20e45. Hate it.
Thanks. Convergence adjustment is the hardest thing to get just right. I was so glad the yoke worked from the M2 on the L2. Saved me a couple hours of headache
Hello Steve! I wanna buy my first PVM. Those monitors are very very rare in my country and after years i found one very very cheap but it have issue. U are good at repairing them. Can u help me with repairing it?
Where do you find new tube because i see only used?
What's old to some is new to others
Ehhm... is everything alright? 😜
Hey Steve, what is a good way to contact you? I have some issues with a BVM-D20F1U I picked up recently and wanted to see if I could ask some questions about getting it fully functioning again. Not sure if this is something you do, but I figured it was worth a shot!
