      If the horn in front of the car is operating correctly then you should next check the horn relay and fuse inside of the fuse box. A malfunction Clock Spring will stop the horn from operating too. Diagnosing car issues are tough because of the possible causes.

    • @donkeykongchang

      I don't think the MR583930 will work for the Mitsubishi Lancer 2007. I'm not 100% sure without taking a look that the connectors on your vehicle. But according to this www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/AC/18767-02580592.html?TTC&PartsGeek+Google+Base&For+2006-2013+Mitsubishi+Lancer+Air+Bag+Clockspring+Replacement+958-022+2007+2008+2009+2010+2011+2012&fp=pp&gbm=a&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiILsBRCGARIsAHKQWLPgy2QEy7QJNJQpKDclqUcT5JFD8QSI06rg5EkNLY_F3Jq6T9kKYloaAoE7EALw_wcB , the part number is different compare to the 2007 version. The connectors are also visually different on closer inspection too.

    Hi, could you tell me how many connector pins this model has? I have bought 2 clock springs for my 2002 Lancer off Amazon and still have not found the right part. And I don't have the original part number anymore. Thanks.

    • @donkeykongchang
      @donkeykongchang  5 років тому

      To tell you the truth, I am not exactly sure how pin the Mitsubishi Lancer 2002 suppose to have. The first clock spring i bought from amazon.com was also incorrect one too, I forgot to look at the connectors and they did not match up to my vehicle. The second one i bought was the correct one and I explain about it in the beginning of the video. According to www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/AC/7175-07226885.html?TS&PartsGeek+Google+Base&+Mitsubishi+Lancer+Air+Bag+Clockspring+SKP+SK525023+02-06+Mitsubishi+Air+Bag+Clockspring+2003&fp=pp&gbm=a&PartsGeek+Google+Basecid=277211772&aid=17242777092&keyword=%7Bpla%7D&kid=95463014412&gclid=CjwKCAjwzdLrBRBiEiwAEHrAYn70cYHv3mcsRw72kiSKo6Is30IdQxCkebdKtFo_-Yj0orIodAVRHxoCg3EQAvD_BwE, the same part for the Mitsubishi Lancer 2003 version should fit on the 2002 version. When do you actually pull off the tab, is it that the tab holds the spring in place before installation. If so how do you know when you pull ti off you putting it in the correct position.

    • @donkeykongchang
      @donkeykongchang  5 років тому

      Shamir Sookdeo you can pull the tab off the new clock spring anytime you want. I had already pull off the tab on the new clock spring before the installation of the video. The clock spring can only spin so much in one direction before coming to a stop. The clock spring will spin the same amount in any direct on or off the steering column. You will have to “center” the clock spring to know if the it is in the right position. You can see the directions to “center” the clock spring on the yellow sticker. You can also look for the directions in the video where I talk about centering the clock spring.

    Is this related to the code 22 and cause the srs light to come on i own a 2003 mitsubishi lancer and cant seem to get it past for the fault thats appearing i had the local auto electricion try to clear the code but it came back moments after and tried several times but still came on

    • @donkeykongchang
      @donkeykongchang  5 років тому +1

      I did a quick research and people claim that replacing the Clock spring had turn off the SRS with a code 22. I replaced my Clock spring because I notice the symptoms of a dying Clock spring. The SRS light will turn on and turn off on its own. Then it final stay on and never went off. After replacing the Clock spring, SRS went off on it own. I did not need to reset anything.

    Hi Kong,
    Thanks for this video. My car is this model of lancer, (2009), is the tutorial same for my car too ? I see my airbag (SRS) light is permanently on now and a guy checked with OBD2 scanner and told me something is wrong with Spiral Cable. Before replacing it with new one, could you guide me to check some basics, which might fix the issue ? If not, then I will go to buy new one and replace it.
    Previously, before this issue appeared, this SRS light was turning on and off randomly and sometimes it was turning on/off when I press horn or turn the steering wheel. But now its permanently on. Please guide !

      The year are different but I do my best to help you.
      There two thing that I will talk about:
      1. I believe your problem is cause by a broken “clock spring” from the symptoms you have described. My Lancer have the exact symptoms and replacing the “clock spring” had fix the issue. It is not recommended to try and repair the “clock spring”. “Clock spring” are fairly cheap, I bought mine on amazon for roughly $20.
      2. Taking off the steering wheel on the Lancer 2009 is different from the 2003. I did a quick research and will give you some pointer. You do still need to unplug the battery terminal and unplug the wires under the steering wheel. There is 1 screw on each side of the steering wheel that will need to be undone. Once the screws are loose you can take off the air bag unit. From here you can see a nut that holds the steering wheel to the steering column. Once the nut is off, the steering wheel should come off. From here you can see and replace the clock spring. The direction to center the clock spring should be written on the clock spring itself. You will have to research the torque spec for your vehicle.
      I always recommend a review of the service/repair manuals when working on your vehicle.
      I hope this will point you in the right direction.

    • @farhansh86
      @farhansh86 6 років тому

      Dear Kong,
      Yes I saw that there are 2 screws for my steering wheel, one on each side. I guess that should not be a problem to open for me. Could you guide me on how do I find exact part online ? As when I write lancer 2009, internet always shows the result for Lancer Evo. But mine is older than evo. I hope you have seen it from picture link I shared above.
      Could you help me to find the exact part for my car ?

    • @donkeykongchang
      @donkeykongchang  6 років тому

    • @farhansh86
      @farhansh86 6 років тому

      Dear Kong,
      Thank you for your reply. I visited local market here and they gave me (luckily) part number for the spiral I need for my car. They do it using VIN number of the car so there's no chance of getting wrong part. The part my car needs is with " MR 583 930" code which I was able to find online. I'm waiting for the delivery now. However, I would request to guide me in future (if required) for setting up timer / clock with that rotation thing.
