Happy New Year everyone. What types of videos do you want to see in 2025? Vlogs? Tutorials? Reviews? Maybe something completely different? Let me know!
I know right? The first time I saw it in the a7rv I was like how come no one has thought of this. Now in saying that I think Panasonic had a version of it in the S1H but it isn’t as refined
No, cause then you'd ruin the whole price gap between premium sony cameras to entry level. Sometimes you have to approach this with a business mindset and why only certain bodies have certain features. Plus if they gave this display to say the sony zve10 II, then price goes up and doesn't make it as entry pricing anymore
@caffeinatedcameras obviously there's more too but that mindset is what contributes to the annoying fan base that always wants everything on the same bodies
im always one of the guys complaining about how expensive Sony is but do you know what Lee , good on ya for getting this beautiful camera . I hope you make some amazing images & video with it . great business move to end the year off that is always a shrude move . ..enjoy 📸
I'm new to the whole camera ecosystem; having just bought an OM1... When you said you sold a ton of gear to get the Sony - I thought I'd google it....Wow. 10k aud just for the camera body. Thats mental haha
Good choice. I would go with the A7R5 because I shoot mainly stills and it's a little more affordable. But man, that A1 ii is a monster of a machine. I read all the specs, and it impressed. I have the A7CR and a6700, both of which have the AI chip and vastly improved focusing system. It is a wow factor over the previous models without those new chips. Best wishes and looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
So it can only do 8k30? With a stacked sensor and such a fast processor I see no reason why it cant do 60p like its two main rivals from Canon and Nikon. Which can also do raw internally btw.
I just bought an R6II. 2.5 year A7IV owner here. It takes amazing photos, but it hurts my hands so much after shooting for a while with the Version 1 Sigma 24-70.
The sony bodies feel like crap... I too also had a7iv and hated the body texture... the screen is also terrible probably the 2nd thing I hate the most. All else is pretty good
Something I've not been able to find anyone talk about; does the A1ii have focus breathing compensation in 8K? The A1 only supported breathing compensation in 4K modes
No! No. Absolutely not. They're not getting away with it. We've said "A" forever, but now that they've named it after steak sauce WE'RE supposed to change? No. You bought an A1II. Embrace it.
The camera is like cheating. Can’t miss the shot. I’ve used it on one shoot now. Stoked to own a camera like this. Not saying the a7iv is bad but it’s what I’ve been use to for the last 3 going on 4 years. The new autofocus in these Sony cameras some how almost predict what you want it to do and it does it. I don’t know how else to describe it
The a1ii pixel binned 4K is also indistinguishable but it’s the rolling shutter and lack of 4K 120p that is kind of the reason I mentioned getting the a1ii over the a7rv for video
@@LeeZavitz There is little rolling shutter in the 4k 60 pixel binned video of the a7rV. Its one of those myths that won't die. 8krolling shutter is ridiculous, and so is apsc mode oversampling, but when the a7rv uses pixel binning there is less rolling shutter than is reported. Lack of 4k120 could be an issue, but I just shoot 1080p/120 without concern of overheating, and then upscale in post if I need 4k for consistancy. Granted it is only 8bit, but still... :)
That’s very cool. I could never justify that price, especially when all I shoot are portraits , that is complete overkill for portraits 😅. That’s MF and Leica pricing territory but if you can afford it, why not? Enjoy!
What an awesome camera, maybe one day I'll get one. By the way, I'm a video editor and if you need any assistant or like someone to help you with the video editing, I'm here.
would it not have been better to wait it out and see what the a7v brings this year or wait a while for the a1ii to drop a few more hundred dollars in price.
Doesn’t matter what Nikon or Canon cameras have if you don’t have the lenses. You made a great choice. Like to see more videos of your actual work/jobs.
I knew people would say that. But all of the footage I’ve shot with it, has been unnoticeable when it comes to quality, people love to talk about over sampled video but I sometimes find it too sharp. If you shoot 8k you get it but there’s hardly a time I will ever shoot 8k
lol ok. Not saying medium format isn’t the future. Who knows? I assume Ai matched with mobile phones is more likely to be the future that eliminates cameras all together :O
I've never known one great photographer who thinks a single camera is the future. Some photo-journalists shoot APS-C as it has that extra telephoto reach, or is less visible and intiidating. Some art photographers shoot outdated Holga / Diana cameras with incredible results (Nancy Rexroth for one). A whole bunch of really good photographers were still shooting Nikon D700s and Canon 5D DSLRs as they were just incredibly used to and comfortable with them. Then there's the whole bunch that shoot film that still has that look that can't quite be replicated. There's just too many use-cases out there to make such a sweeping statement that there will be one format or one camera to rule them all! (Still happy with my X-Pro3 / X100V / Mamiya 6 film camera combo, personally. ) @@LeeZavitz
Congrats on the new camera ✨🙏🏻 last December I upgrade from a A7III to a A7IV and I know is not apples to apples with the A1II but nothing like unboxing your brand new camera ❤️
I need to try one. My buddy Anthony had it with him on one of the road trips we did but from his point of view it didn’t seem that much better than the original R5. Obviously the autofocus is better and has clog2 which is nice.
Why spend so much money on cameras when ai is taking over photography☹ Almost every photo online is fake or enhanced beyond what one could do normally. Cheap camera with good editing is as good as professional camera.

The A1II. It's that good.

Nikon Z6lll
Did they change that god awful backscreen from the A7RV and A9III ? I mean did they get rid of the vertical stripes that make it look 720p lowres?
No
They didn't and yeah, Sony backscreens are awful. Good battery life, but come on.
I've always admired Sony's squared off chonkers choice, it gave the cameras instant recognizability aside form the name on it.
Not gonna lie, I'm a sucker for a good industrial design. Canon is the worst.
Grats on new camera! Always a good feeling!
Yeah! It’s been so long
Man that screen hinge system should be on every camera.
I know right? The first time I saw it in the a7rv I was like how come no one has thought of this. Now in saying that I think Panasonic had a version of it in the S1H but it isn’t as refined
@@LeeZavitz There was a similar screen on Fujifilm X-T100 in 2018

@ a tilty, flippy screen is not the thing that’s currently separating entry-level cameras from flagships, buddy.

Cool camera mate , and how cool is that multi position rear screen , love it .
Enjoy your new camera !

What i wanna know is how good it is in low light video ?! What's the iso with this camera??! :)
it’s not going to be drastically better than the A1, but it will have slightly better noise performance. I’ll get to that in a full review
@LeeZavitz thanks, currently with a7siii and trying to upgrade to a something bigger then 4k bit only issue is I shoot mainly at 12800 doing gigs etc
Too much for me… maybe the A7V. Did you start a watch channel? I started collecting watches last year.
