Sick! Definitely not hard to do, in theory. If you’re looking to have a unique vehicle and spend around $15k anyway, this is the way to go. You just have to have the time, space, and motivation to get it done!

Great work Nate! Thanks for documenting this and giving us what we need to do it ourselves. I’m doing the swap on a 1500 and contemplate doing a body swap instead. I know I would have to shorten the frame to fit but are there reasons you went this route instead? Maybe you could make a video on your thought process
Thank you! A suburban body will not go on a truck frame, would need to completely re-do the back half of it, not worth it in my opinion.

I am starting the swap and this sounds about right i have a lb7 so i am going to go with head studs and replace the CP3 so that makes it more expensive
But you can build a duraburb for less than a decent pickup would cost that already has one

I have a full lbz runs perfect but the whole truck is rotted, im gonna have to keep an eye out for a suburban or yukon because youre making this sound easy 😂

I got a clean Yukon xl for 500$ but they took the motor and transmission I swapped in my own engine and a nv 4500 runs great so far

Great info. Did you have to do any custom fabrication for the motor mounts, or is the suburban frame compatible with the duramax mounts?

New to the channel..looking to do a LBZ swap as well but I haven’t decided which GMT800 I want use yet..you choose the suburban and said you had to buy body mount spacers..would the Yukon, Tahoe, Avalanche & Cadillac need spacers too or is it just a suburban thing?.. Thank you!
I believe they would all need spacers to clear the trans cooler lines that run to the front because the trucks were a little different.

Is it possible to do the lbz swap on a 01 sierra 2500hd with the Allison transmission even tho the wiring is probably different than the 03-07??
You would need to re-wire the entire truck, would need the lbz body harness
@Nate, I am planning this swap. I am also in Ohio. I picked up a 04 crew cab long bed 2500 4x4 GMC with an LLY. I am on the hunt now for a clean 3/4 ton suburban or Yukon. In your video you said look for 03-07.. the 07 is a newer body style, is this still compatible? I appreciate your videos and any advice before I start my project.
You would need an early 07. The new body style 07 will not work with an lly
I bought a 2003 3500 hd sierra off my dad, and it’s got the 6.0 in it. I wanna swap an lb7 into it, do you think it’s harder or easier that the suburban?
Exactly the same swap as the suburban, would be better to just sell it and buy a duramax truck

Im swapping a 06 lbz into a 05. I kno ichave to switch the harnesses and pedal assembly..did u have to run wires for your obd2? Man i really need help
Yes, need to run 2 wires to the OBD port, I can't remember which. Also 1 wire to the cluster for glow plug light, 2 wires to the shifter for tap shift, and truck 4x4 switch/module

If I have a 1500 sub can I get a donor 2500 sub and swap the bodies and frames. Then get the 2500 LBZ donor?
I thought it would be closer to 20,000 12,000 is not bad at all
If I did performance upgrades with fancy powder coat colors I'm sure it would get up in that range.
Has anyone tried swapping a Suburban body onto A Duramax HD Silverado chassis. Instead of swapping engine and Drive train?
I think the frames are too different for the bed. Wheel base is a different length too
Just found your channel. I’ve got a 01 2500 burb with the 8.1 4x4. Been thinking of swapping in a duramax for a few years. Would a LBZ not work with the 01?
01 or 02 engine works much better with 01 or 02 suburban. Or you will need to swap most of the wiring on the burb

My old friend Alex's dad had gotten into a crash with his 2006 Suburban one time and when he got into a crash with it, it stayed in Arizona and when they got it back, they had to put a lift kit, big wheels, and even a Duramax engine with Allison transmission in order to make it road legal again.
