      You can try 60 ml of expressed milk after breastfeeding and that might help space the feeds for initial 3-4 days

    My baby is 6 weeks today, she was 7lbs 4oz when she was born, 12 lbs last week. Nutritionist told me today that she might ve overfed. My concern was that she is always gassy, All day, and struggles to let the gases out. Nutritionist suggests to reduce the feedings. Im nursing on demand, how can I avoid overfeeding her if she gets fussy when wants to nurse?

    • @SridharKs
      @SridharKs  3 роки тому +2

      Growth also depends on genetic factors, so that by itself is only one factor. But it does help the fussiness to avoid over feeding, which could be just the frequency of feeds. Review my videos on colic and reflux (there is a playlist). Try to wait more between feeds and don’t feed too long (10-15 minutes is adequate at this age usually)

    His weight is in normal healthy range but m confused about how much should I feed. Within 5 minutes he gets full. My milk flow is good n fast, is it because of my milk flow that he get full faster?
    Can baby survive 3 to 4 hours in 5 minutes of feeding?

    Thank you so much doctor i never knew I was overfeeding my baby till now, my baby is exactly 3 n half month old today and I have always feed her for every 1 hour if she's awake and she had colic issues but not much reflux problem but till now I continued that thinking my baby's demand is more, when she was infant she used to drink for 30-40 mins and now she drinks for max 10 mins and leaves by herself and I am using pacifier till now from when she was infant, her birth weight was 2.7 and currently 5.5kg, Did I set wrong habit? And in none of the pediatrician visit told me this😢 and I don't know how to make sure she's full and don't need milk I just check her belly if it's slightly big i will think yeah she's full.
    And now she sleeps for some 3-4 hours in a stretch but when she was infant she didn't sleep at all and may be overfeeding leading to colic was the problem for some days she didn't sleep for entire 24 hours and some days 12 hours and some days 8-9 hours and when it reached 24 hours I went to my pediatrician and he said it's normal 😮

    Doctor,
    I am second time mother of 3 months old baby, she is feeding every 3 to 4 hour at day time and night even 6 hours apart.
    She got cold and I am feeding often due to fear of coughing and sneezing. But after feeding often she herself putting fingers inside mouth and spitting milk and she is unable to sleep due to excessive milk . And regarding feeding duration, she unlatches in 2 to 3 minutes, I myself offering breast feeling as such she left by mistake.
    This is what I interpret from her cues.
    Can you please clarify whether am I overfeeding?

    • @SridharKs
      @SridharKs  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, even if she has a mild cold, no need to force her to feed more often, let her regulate her intake as she has been doing very well before. Use nasal saline if that is affecting her, and some feeds can be as short as 3 minutes if she is efficient. If her appetite has reduced due to a virus, it is short term, you can express if you feel engorged
