Day Of The Total Eclipse - Evening - Dear Ruthie Foster, Thank you for the hug in Austin in late 2014. I told you you have my mother's name and you were so gracious. I'd seen you live in Austin in 2008 also and you were so kind to talk to me then as well. I love you so much. Please accept this hug from me and a kiss from my mother. God Bless you too Jorma. You are my idol. If you ever need a ranch hand I'm available brother. God bless you. Love/Peace
Two of my favorite artists up on that stage! Got into Jorma's music only a few years back, but i love his guitar playing and had no idea he was also a founding member of Jefferson Airplane way back when. Need to get up to speed on his Hot Tuna catalog, however, but those albums are extremely hard to find on CD nowadays:::sigh:::AND MORE PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW WHO RUTHIE FOSTER IS DAMMIT!!! Atlantic Records nearly had her signed to a record deal 23 years ago, but she had to turn them down in order to take care of her ailing mother at the time. So damn glad it didn't stop her from pursuing a music path in the long run. She's like Tracy Chapman and Roberta Flack all rolled into one, I kid you not! ;-D
First and foremost, Ruthie has a great voice and uplifting energy. Second, when I listened to the first batch of Jorma licks, I thought, oh well, same 'Ol Jorma licks. Not bad, but a bit dusty. I grew up on Jorma licks and know most of them all. About half way through something happened and I believe Ruthies energy transformed Jorma and his guitar imagination went wild. What a great finish and refreshing to hear the 'Ol Jorm work up and down the guitar neck with fresh and reckless abandon.
Jorma Kaukonen once said he took up the electric guitar after hearing Janis Joplin sing. Nice to see he's still around playing with another great vocalist!
Lawdy! Some folks got no soul, cuz God gave Ruthie Foster their share. Speaking for myself, I am more than happy to have sacrificed my share to this beautiful woman!
Ruthie is a great performer with a wonderful soulful voice and it's nice to hear that Jorma still has a touch of psychedelia after all these years
All of a sudden, Jorma had a flashback!!
Damned good stuff. 👏♥️🕊️🗽
what a voice! Thanks Jorma for sharing this with us.
Love love love Ruthie!
finally a singer who doesn't twist themself into knots unnecessarily...just enough vibrato, in the right spots
Was it REALLY 6 years ago already?!?!?! Ruthie and The Captain makin' magic!! What a treat....
What a combo, damn

Yes
What I like here from Jorma is that it is more airplane style licks than tuna licks. I prefer the bite of Jorma's airplane playing personally.
She Definitely has the soul for singing and playing . Always love to listen to Jorma pickin'.

I hope the three people that gave this the thumbs down get their just desserts in the afterlife. Heathens!

You are to cool for school my friend, keep on rocking !
The sad fact is that rhythm guitar is so out of fashion, no one acknowledges her terrific drive and tempo. Great player.....
