  • COMC has recently opened up an option to be able to send cards for grading through PSA and CGC directly through their platform. In this video, I am going to reveal some of my cards that I sent through this, so you can see the big ups and downs of my experiences with it so far. Enjoy!

    I always send my COMC orders back to look over before grading. I have a great success rate of getting gradable cards, but I will never trust COMC images fully. I mainly collect 80's and prior and I have gotten many 9/10's from the 80's using CGC, PSA, SGC from raw COMC purchases. There are still some great raw cards out there!

      That sounds like a better way to do it. Get your eyes actually on the cards first.

    So many people dump their grading rejects on COMC. I think you need to focus on the less popular players or sets to be successful doing this.

      You're probably right

    Great vid, was curious about this myself. Any expereince with the COMC pre-screening service? I'd at least hope that service would screen out nearly all PSA 6s or 7s....

      I did do a pre-screen on three cards so far, all three of them came back suggested not to send for grading (so basically I paid $5 for what would normally be a $2 elite listing with a better scan). I sent one of them off anyways (a Finest Durant rookie) and it ended up getting a PSA 9. That's been the entirety of my pre-screening experience. I did do a couple of card grading things that ended up really low though, so had I done this, it might have helped me. $5 is just kind of a lot, I'm already like 1/4th of the way to just paying for grading there, so it's hard for me to justify using the service much.

    You can resubmit card to comc at elite level to get the high res scan

    • @scoa
      @scoa  6 місяців тому

      Yeah, but then you have to pay the $2 extra, and really I still have trouble seeing surface issues or some of the same things I have trouble seeing on the regular scan. It might give me a little bit of a better idea, but I feel not that much of a better idea.

      100% still a gamble

    I've had good luck grading with PSA through COMC but I'm wondering if you think they are any advantages to use CGC? I've got a few CGC sports cards that I got graded before they added the PSA service and they don't seem to move. What do you think about using CGC for non-sports cards like marvel, Pokemon or entertainment?

    • @scoa
      @scoa  6 місяців тому

      I like CGC as a company, but for sports cards they don't seem to sell super well. I don't buy many Pokémon, but as far i understand CGC does pretty well when selling. Marvel probably too, since it's a well known brand to comic book people too.

    This is a great video. Question, did you have to send any card through elite review or pre grade? Is that still available? You bought all of these on platform?
    I am sending in cards I want to submit to PSA via COMC. I have reviewed the cards so I am eager to see how I do.
    Love the videos

      Glad you enjoyed the video, Ziggy! I did send one to the pre-grading service. But I spent $5 and really got nothing besides a 'not suggested to send to grading' kind of message. If I'm spending $5, I really wanna know something about why. So I'm not gonna do that anymore, unless maybe it was a really really high end card. Then maybe. I didn't do any elite submissions either, just because I didn't want to spend that extra $2, and then find that the updated scan really barely gives me any extra information. Those $2 upgraded scans are sometimes better, but just as often not really that much different for being able to see some details. I did purposefully send off a few cards that were already elite when I bought them. But I feel like that elite scan just doesn't give me enough information to help me much in making a decision.
      I think the way I'll most likely use the grading thing with COMC from here on is similar to what you say. Use them kind of like a group submitter, sending in cards I've got in hand that I can actually look at closely in person before sending off for grading.

    really difficult to see any imperfections from those comc pictures. Even the high definition scans are not any better. CGC grading through comc was rather quick. The PSA grading I tried took much longer.

      I def agree. I don't think I'm gonna buy cards from the platform to go direct to grading, unless I'd wanna do it no matter what the grade ends up being. Just too hard to see the pictures. I might use them more like a grading submitter if they are cards I already have in hand though. Could be a good option for cards I would be planning to sell on the platform eventually anyways.
