There’s a lot of references to her past. Everyone’s speculating that the bride and groom symbolizes her ex Wilmer because he’s engaged now.
This song is about her and her past: the easter eggs were repersentive of her lace outfit she wore when performing with Nick Jonas in 2016 after she posed nude on Instagram, her overdose, when she was on Disney(camp rock), was involved and dated one of the jonas brothers , her ex getting engaged/married. Great song, we all have a past and the hardest thing to do in the world is forgive yourself

I know exactly what yo mean i can totally relate to this song. I have depression and PTSD and I can relate to everything in this song. But like my sister says Just keep your head up think positively and love you first before you can love to others and ignore the mean crap that people say and just smile a big smile acting like its not bothering you and when you walk off just brush it out of your mind.

An important thing about this video. Throughout this video as she’s walking down the street there are different references to parts of her life. The two kids and the mom reference her, her sister, and herself. Then we see street performers for a second with a girl singing. That’s from Camp Rock. Then she’s walks through 3 guys in shimmery jackets that’s a reference to the Jonas Brothers. Then there’s her in the ambulance after ODing and finally a bride and a groom pass her in that final chorus that is reference to her ex boyfriend Wilmer

I’ve noticed a lot of people miss the line, “Why am I always looking for a ride or die, cuz mines the only heart I’m gonna have for life” Meaning, why is she always looking for a man to complete herself/make her happy when she’s going to be “with herself” forever. I used to think that way years ago. It wasn’t until I *stopped* looking for a man to complete me that I found my husband of now 14 years. Yes we met young (18/19). 😉

Tip: if you find yourself ruminating over negative internet junk, I recommend the following. Feel free to share it on your vids if you find it helpful too!
• Take 5 mins, eyes closed, calm your breating like you're meditating.
• Then visualise each internet comment thats bothering you like a pile of papers in your "intray". Take one out and look at it. One at a time. This is important.
• Think about the individual who wrote it. Make sure you are remembering that hurt people hurt others, and that no matter what anyone says or does toward you it is always more about them than it is about you.
• Then thank that comment and the commenter for sharing thier subjective opinion, that it has been acknowledged and filed away should it ever be needed in the future.
• Offer a prayer or a wish for happiness and peace for the writer. Being a human on this planet is hard and dont we all just need a little reprieve every now and then?
• Then in your minds eye, see yourself fold it up neatly and place it in a "done" or "out-box" pile, or through a shredder machine, or even think about sending it to an archive. Whatever completion action helps you.
Your brain tends to hold onto things that feel incomplete (thats why songs get stuck in your head, if you want it out, just listen to the closing few seconds of the song), and things that give you strong emotional reactions (like you remember really really happy or sad moments at school, more than run of the mill mundane classes for instance. The emotion strengthens the neural pathways of those memories).
So you tell your brain that its "completed" and it should help unlatch from your brain, and the meditation and the act of goodwill toward the writer will help with negative emotions that are causing pain.
Obviously this isnt a replacement for therapy or anything when things get really hard, but its a great way to sift through negative things that have more real estate than it deserves.
Pro tip: before you end the exercise, add in a mirror on the desk. Look at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself how perfectly imperfect you are, just as we all are. Remind yourself that you are loved, lovable, and loving. Remind yourself that you make mistakes, but you learn from them. Remind yourself that you're just a child trapped in a bigger body, as we all are.
And then when you're finished, do something that makes you happy.
@Katherine Henshaw I hope you get a few thousand thousand likes because this is some damned good advice. Seriously... I wish I could just put it in a time machine and send it back twenty five years because I was in the music industry somewhat involuntarily and it coincided with the whole internet becoming a common thing for people to have in their home from the time I had my first record in high school in early 92 to the next solo one after I got out of my major label contract almost 5 years later, but in this short time everything changed, the anonymity of the net yet there were people who had been in the net world for nearly a decade-aduts, so mean and it was very personal, I look at people like Demi and I just think of how much more she has to go through, not just for her game, but I have a daughter who brought to my attention that we share some of the same personal issues, I think it would be tough on her if she was marginally known, but being a super famous young woman, she is really a great inspiration writing this tune, I just got out of the hospital, I have this persnickety tumor that is not interested in leaving my pituitary... Ugh, but the music therapist was a young lady who asked me what I wanted to hear, I told her to play the most recent thing that had found to be evocative, and she said she thought I might not like it because it was pop lol I'm Old but I like any music that is sincere, and the girl made a demi Lovato fan of me after hearing her version of this on piano and vocals. I wish that UA-cam would let people cut and paste the comments of others because I really want to use the advice you offer here and use it on my multimedia site because it's golden for anyone who is in the public and possibly scrutinized... Because whether or not we admit it, no one wants to be told shitty things about things they put heart in.

There are other equally genuine artists that focus on whatever subject is giving them the most attention and it feels like pandering.
