- Most point to grimace throwing out the first pitch against the Miami marlins a month ago as to why the Mets went on a league best run to scrape back into the playoff mix, however there were obviously tangible differences in the field that elicited that run and I lay them out here.

Even as a Mets fan, I didn’t see this run coming
The players play better isn't great, we should be asking why they're playing better? Why did lindor being leadoff change him as a player? Why did Martinez decide that now he's gonna be great? Why are the Mets suddenly hitting home run after home run? These are the questions that need answering.
In my opinion it’s just regressing back to the mean. They weren’t as bad as they were in the first couple months and aren’t this good now. Lindor situation is the only non-coincidence, I think he’s just more comfortable in the leadoff hole without the expectation of driving guys in and having a high slug in the 3 hole.
Martinez was always good he just didn’t play most the games at the beggining since he joined late and had a injury and Lindor has always been a late bloomer so it was inevitable, the roster was too talented to all bat 205
Also Alvarez was hurt most the year and vientos was in the minors and they hit a lot of hr and Alonso was hitting home runs before too, before our catchers were automatic outs now they’re auto production
