Mari, this was such a helpful video. I’m in the Bronx which is 7b also. I’m a beginner gardener I had success last year with herbs. I am excited to try lettuce this year. I grew onions and potatoes also but they were not as full and healthy as the peppers and tomatoes I grew. This year I will be more organized and I am going to start earlier too.

The cool season crops we sometimes plant later in fall they stay alive over the winter and harvest in spring. Also you mentioned shade. Remember shade equals cooler. So being in the city maybe shade would be helpful.

I have to admit I am slacking on using my greenstalk to its full potential. Lol, I purchased my soil for them the other day.I have my seeds ready and a plan .❤

@@MarisGardenandKitchen mostly sun loving things. I put flowers and herb seeds aside but have to check which loves the heat.

I have grown an indeterminate cherry tomato once! On the bottom layer with basil in the other pockets. It got huge and took over everything, I had to add supports to keep it contained but it just got a little out of control
Do you have struggles with the dreaded cabbage moth? I planted cauliflower last fall, and they got decimated by those catipillars. I want to try again this year but will have to cover with insect netting.
Yes!!! They definitely also come to my garden. I do my best to pick the eggs out when I see it (I try to check under the leaves in the morning when I’m out in the garden) when I notice the holes I instantly look for the little caterpillars and try to pick them out too. But this year I’m planning to use the greenstalk insect cover to protect them so I don’t have to be monitoring so much
