Not to be mean, but I think people would be interested in reading the information plaques outside of the various rooms. Maybe also looking out the windows at the views. Thanks for an enjoyable tour.
It’s a fair point. The camera does not do well looking out the windows but I agree it could have been better with the information plaques. Thank you for watching
So iv been thinking about the plaques a lot and its hard to slow the camara pace down to focus on a small object without the cameras stabilisation jumping about .So what i mite try is filming as before but having a overlay clip in the bottom of the screen of the plaque as i walk into the room. Its all a learning curve for me at the moment but i do hope to improve. I have already filmed the next two videos, but will try this and see haw it goes next time i'm out filming. Thanks for the feedback
I hope I haven't spoken recklessly since I'll be the first to admit of having exactly zero knowledge of video recording . So best of luck with whatever you try in the future.
Thank you for watching. I often find UA-camrs filming at historical sights making the videos about themselves and there reaction to the building a bit annoying. But they do still keep people interested so I’m not completely against them. It’s just not for me
It’s nice to see the plaster still on the walls inside, it makes a world of difference to people who have no idea that these castles were plastered and painted , a lot of the time with multiple colours. I wish more people recording these castles could add colour and plaster to give the real overall impression of how they really looked in the past .😊
I like the quiet walkthrough with just your footsteps, it’s as though I’m there (actually I was there earlier this year so it was a lovely reminder!) The written information is pertinent and interesting and the clarity of the video is great. As another person said, a moment’s pause on information boards or plaques would sometimes be useful sometimes to illustrate which room or building you are in. Thank you for not adding music. Please keep doing these videos and I will keep watching them.
Thank you for your feedback. The only time I have added music to a video is at the end wen I’m trying to get some cinematic shots. The walking will always be quiet because I believe it is more atmospheric and I won’t the viewer to feel as if they are there.I have been thinking about the plaques and it’s hard to stop and focus on an object without the cameras stabilisation jumping.so I might try overlaying a clip of the plaque in the corner of the screen and see haw that works. I have no experience with filming so there is a lot of improvement to be made
Fantastic! I was s o thrilled to see this pop up in my feed today. I went to this castle back in 1985- March or April. Not as sunny ...but worth the time to explore.Thank you so much for the tour and the memories it brought back. 😊
AMAZING I love how you did the quite walk threw so we can see and read what your viewing this is so amazing. I can imaginge back in the day how beautiful it would of been to live in forr the times
I think this may be the first “quiet” travel channel on youtube and I love it! I think you are on to something here. I do agree with a comment on here, just maybe let us read the plaques and see the views out the windows. It will only make it even better, but I really enjoyed this and I am your 708th subscriber 😊 Good job!
Thank you .I only had 136 subscribers last week.I am amazed haw this week has gone. I have tried filming out windows before and it often does not come out to good but I am still a beginner so plenty of room for improvement.
@@QuietlyExploring you would know best if it looks right on film. I honestly enjoy it just as it is. You give people the opportunity to feel as if it is from their own eyes and experience, wonderful!
Such a beautiful castle with an incredible setting. We loved our visit here and glad to see you managed to explore the castle on a majestic day. I love the entrance way into the ruins and the stories and history this castle has been through. Fab video 📹 🎉
Duke of Norfolk & Thomas plus Sir John were one of many of my family line of grandfathers. The Howard’s. I would love to visit this place since it belonged in my family. Wow the stories it could tell. He was uncle to Anne and Catherine but he was one of many Great grandads to me.
Thanks I didn’t know that. I’m glad you let me know that info. Lady Godiva is one of my many great grand mums and the late President Thomas Jefferson is one of my many cousins. So his grandad was mine too. It’s so exciting to know where you come from, it’s who you are. What makes you, you! I’m also related to the Plantagenets? How exciting is that? Although they were the bloodiest royals, it’s still interesting. Plus one of my many great grandad Howard fought in the war of the roses and died on my birthday. How weird is that?
I like this tour. I like it without music and the subtitles of pertinent information left me time to imagine what life might have been during that time. Thank you.
Thank you for the quiet tour. Like someone else said, it let me imagine I was walking around by myself. This castle is a part of my ancestry (Edward II & the Howards are many times great grandparents) so I've been wanting to visit. I can't travel right now so this is the next best thing. I've just subscribed and am looking forward to more videos like this one.
Thank you. Just fantastic. I am unlikely to travel overseas again so this is how I see the world now. Can I respectfully suggest you slow your panning down a little - I like to linger on the details! Thanks

Amazing, I thought I'd been taken to visit, or learn about, most castles in Britain but I'd never heard of it. Thank you for the quiet walk. Very pleasant.
I can't be the only one who does this. I go to a lot of castles, and I always imagine what it would have been like to attack one....the number of soldiers spent trying to take walls or gates must have been incredibly high....even in the old Motte and Bailey days.
Thank you, I found your channel by accident and love your content. Please take a second to pause on any wall information. I will sign up for you channel 😊

@QuietlyExploring tbh I thought the same! The height is deceiving. The walls at the side looked very tall before it hit window! Definitely a plus for defence! It would have been beautiful though when it was built! The floors, plaster, tapestries!

I’ve visited Castle Rising. It’s a lovely place.
The walls would have been plastered and painted white. Then had beautifully painted decorations and tapestry hung on them. Wish it could be restored.
Beautiful. More like a "keep" than a castle, tho.
It would be nice to know what these rooms were used for.
My favourite castle!
Maybe a silly question, but did they use rugs, tapestries or perhaps wooden planks on the stone and concrete for warmth and comfort?
Most likely rugs but hardwood was also often used
Wind noise for me, and the crunch of the gravel could be a bit louder too.
Your camerawork is really good.
Thank you so much

what was on the upper walkway to prevent falling

To me it always seems a shame that these castles aren’t fully restored but that would certainly consume a lot of national treasure.
That would actually ruin what makes this 12th century Romanesque Castle keep so important. It is the fact it has survived 900 years in such an authentic state (I.e. without alterations from later periods), that makes it so special.
