Well it always good to finish off the season with a memorable sail, maybe next time try a different sort of memorable.😉🤣 I hope the stern drive bearings have not failed due to sea water ingress - maybe a full rebuild kit would be prudent in terms of seals and bearings? Enjoy your time rebounding with your workshop.😀⛵️👍
Thanks Norman. Yes indeed! And yes, I’m certainly intending a full output shaft rebuild. I think/hope the vertical transfer shaft is ok, but I’ll be inspecting it thoroughly 👍
You looked kerknackered after that 24 hour stint... no wonder and good job on getting Tapatya back to port. It's amazing seeing the workshop at the end where it all started and look what you've achieved this year on the water! Hope the saildrive isn't too bad, no doubt we'll find out soon.
Thank you for the new video, Tony. That was certainly a rough last sail for the season. Glad you made it in to Rota and are back at home for the holidays. Did you get a good look at the sail drive so you can prep for its repair at the start of the next sailing season? Best wishes to you and the family for a safe and joyous holiday season.
Thanks Matt. No, I need to haul out to check the output shaft bearings, but I’m happily assuming that’s the problem and have already bought new bearings and seals. Fingers crossed! All the best to you and yours 👍😃
Hi, I am pleased you went into Rota it is lovely and you can get the fast ferry accross to Cadiz from the marina. The marinas round into the med until you leave Andalucia are run by the local councils and are only about 20 Euros a night in the summer. Did you find the small Tapas bar about 10 mins walk from the marina?
No boat with any issues from new to matured🤔 you did a good job and stayed out on the longer safe route Good to see you are both safe home , looking forward to the new technical videos

Thanks Billy. Yes, I was pretty knackered; I ended up hand steering through most of the night. But it all went reasonably well 👍🤔

Thanks Mark. Yes we’ve really enjoyed Rota so far and, as you say, Cadiz is just a short ferry ride away and is lovely!
