You could crush those rocks and spead the minerals throughout the field would be good for it, use your post driver to pound them into dust... im all about using what is available for free to build soil. I took charcoal from a building fire and made biochar, I mixed the charcoal with manure and roots from weeds I pulled to add microrrizae, I also compost to make fungi dominated compost. Its amazing what that does for the crops, I don't use hardly any fertilizer, I wish I could work on a larger scale making these things to improve soil, I grew up on a small farm, but just have the back yard now to tinker with. I enjoy all your videos, hope to see how you work on improving your soil in future videos!
We had so much tag loss that we just said the hell with them and started freeze branding our herd. Best thing we ever done. More work but then you never have to worry about losing a damn ear tag
‘And those will fall off in about six to seven business days’...I’m NEVER going to get this coffee down my throat because it’s sprayed all over my carpet!!! You guys are in prime form this morning!! Love this channel....
Yes they run out there with Larsons. The maturity level that young man is pretty cool. They keep it clean . Not the least bit afraid to have a young person watch them five years older lol
So glad the weights this year were good, but I’ve just to mention how totally impressed I am at how both of you can spot a cow and know right away……..his mom, if she was a first timer, if she was a good mom, or if she had twins, if she was an experienced mom and did well in the years before, if it’s a nasty bull( ok, that even I might remember, lol),or even if it had eye issues! All of this by looking at either a tag or just his shape! It shows how totally dedicated to your farm and your cows you all are ( including uncle Jeff in here)! It’s no wonder that folks come from far and wide year after year to buy your bulls for breeding, they are raised well. Good on you all, well done! 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
I like the pride you guys take in your cattles and the bulls especially, 730 woulda went through alotta places because he was a stout good looking bull, you guys take no chances, he's aggressive and you don't want to send that out to somebody to find out the hard way, I did enjoy the FUN WITH FLAGS with Brian Sonne lol, stay safe
Hello Sonne Farms!! So you have a love/hate relationship with technology too!?! So frustrating when things aren’t ready to go when you think they should be! You have a nice looking set of bulls calves! Sorry, but it was good to see we are not the only ones who occasionally forget to shut a gate or block the hole!🤣 Us girls just worked our weaned calves a couple weeks ago. We don’t sell bulls so we band as soon as we can after birth. We miss out on the natural growth hormone, but we think it is easier for us girls to handle. Can you imagine life before skid steers? Have a blessed day!
Little disappointed more people do not put the notion of their head and try mountain Oysters. Done properly taste great but get the notions of your head.
I think those are some nice looking calves. Knowing your calves and how to respond to problems such as pink eye or intestinal issues can really set your calves weight gain and growth forward or backward. All cattle farmers know that a good healthy herd is attributed to hard work and attention to details. Congrats on your success in weight gains. Thanks for sharing, stay safe and have a great weekend!
When we upgraded our facility about 4 yrs ago with Arrowquip system we decided to install the scale in the alley. It works great and we always have it available this way.... and the monitor is always charged :) I like your hydraulic system however out of range for our size operation. Bindering is the best option in my opinion by far.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting for sure. Loved Brian’s dance with the slap’s. Good foot moves-ha!!!!!! Your herd weights are just great. You are raising some great beef. Once again, my compliments to the Sonne ‘s for being excellent herdsmen. Appreciate the way you treat and handle your herd. You two have a good system and make it work. Good weights on your herd. Next time close the gate, oh well, things happen. Happened to me more than once. Thanks for the storla station hats. Good deal. About it for now. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything. The Iowa farm boy from years ago.
Ahhhh yes! Sonne Frames, changing claves from ambition to nutrition! If momma is a class A beach? As my Dad would say, she needs to be turned into Mcdinalds hamburger, because she will raise a calf just like her. And it’s true every time.
Cole you and your Dad really take care of your livestock and you have an awesome operation. Love your videos. I'll look you up at the next one. You all stay safe!!
We normally brand our calfs as soon and their nuts drop but we had 2 we wanted to keep as bulls but changed our minds and had them cut and they look way bigger then the other calfs and look more like bulls build wise
My dad raised Angus cattle for about 20 years. Those are some beautiful claves men. Dad bought some bulls and heifers back in the 80s from some farms in South Dakota and Iowa. Thanks fellows for your efforts !!!
Brian did such a great job helping to point out directions that all the cows got into the center and they were looking all around in every direction & not sure which of Brians' directions they should choose first! LOL!
Greetings from Ireland Excellent informative video, as always.Stay safe out there, presently 12.15am Sunday morning. On call out, till 7.00am tomorrow morning. A very nice fine sleet earlier, made sorting a puncture on a large truck trailer not the most enjoyable experience. The good news, the early dawn, some sun on your back, opens the new day, with a fresh spring in your step.👍
Wow. That South Dakota grass enabling that kind of growth impresses me, as I said before. Gotta be partly genetics. Bull buyer hustle to the Sonne Farms bull sale to get those genetics. 👍👏
In a tough year drought n weather wise y'all obviously know what you're doing to be above last year's average weight - you deserve it, well done Sonne Frames! 😁💙🙏🦘 (And I reckon with those slappy-flappy moves Mr Brian, you could land a 747 with ease n precision. 😆 ✈ 🪂 🛬 )
Name for this post should be MEN TO BOYS or better yet. WASTIN’ AWAY IN MOUNTAIN OYSTER-VILLE Dancing with slappies! Wooooohoooo! I need a sonnefarms cap (we call them caps down here). Those are some good looking bevo-s that’s for sure! More fence building? Oh yeah, oh yeah!
Never a dull moment on Sonne Frames. Glad your critters were weighing in nicely. So much work goes into what you guys do. It's amazing to this city boy.
I was waiting to see where you set the rocks down at...I've got a first cousin with only part of a leg, lost the other part to gangrene when he was helping a farmer one summer in High School. Got caught by the rock picker. Doctors tried to save the leg, had to take it. He still went on to win wrestling contests for his school! Was watching YOUR process VERY closely...phew.
I like seeing guys using bands, just so much better for the cattle than the knife method. No calf fry afterwards though, which doesn’t hurt my feelings at all lol.
When you bought your new fancy hydraulic arrow quip chute you should have installed a scale on there. We have a scale on our chute and we really like it that way
I said it just a minute ago. I came here a week or two ago just get some insight on farming, but I fell in love with the family and now I'm addicted to these videos. This is much better than what's on TV and I have watched so many videos, I feel like I know the layout of the farm and can hear Cole's voice in my head when I'm thinking... lol. Which thankfully is a nice voice.
Just got back from getting my buck this year, and now time for some Sonne Farms!! Perfect Saturday. Whats up with the giant thing of peanut butter? Cole?? Lol
I could get a good look at a T-Bone by sticking my head up a bulls butt, but I'd rather take the butchers word for it. -Tommy Boy
It's gotta be your bull
So is the pasture going to be littered with testicles next week?

You will not have any heifer bulls if you dont castra some of the the younger bulls.
.
We had so much tag loss that we just said the hell with them and started freeze branding our herd. Best thing we ever done. More work but then you never have to worry about losing a damn ear tag
Brian's little slappy dance was the best. That's all I got to say about that.
Aren't you glad Brian doesn't band everything that limps on the farm? 🤣
hahahaha!! better watch out there Cole!
Meh, only one can throw grandkids...
lmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaao.

Meghan , we really appreciate this!
860 lb weaning weight is incredible! Congratulations.
That moment we've all waited for. Brian's slappy dance. With the single dance line kick. WOWeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
Brian should do some interpretive dance moves with those slappys.
you know he wants too.
He's loving the camera lol
I'd love to see that! Lolol
@@kathyk479 theres at least a calender idea in there.
Glad these guys share their days, and that's all i got to say about that.
I believe that the Olympic committee is looking into making free style slappy dancing a sport next olympics!😁
Brian you crack me up! When you did your little slappy routine with the little jump at the end, I almost spit my coffee out!!
lol
Brian and slappy time. I love it.
Good morning Cole and Brian. Hope y'all have a great day!
Dad he's a fencing machine. Love it .we all know how much we hate having to fence.it's never ending.
I love the Herdsmanship! It's evident you Care a lot about Quality! Keep them videos coming.
Hey Cole you’re limping a bit today. Keep that brace on! Brian, love your snappy dance!
Cole ! You are so lucky that Brian was in a good mood when you let those cattleZ escape, otherwise you might have ended up banded !
😂
it was actually my fault.
@@briansonne814 okay for owning up to the small mistake only one week of double secret probation.
