Thank you for this review chef ! I've been waiting for someone to do a honest stock long term review before I took the big step and bought one for myself and after seeing your videos I can feel confident about my purchase 👍
My thought is to bulletproof everything except for something inexpensive and easy to replace. There has to be a limit on what to replace before everything is bulletproofed, because stuff will bend and be really expensive to replace.
The reason that guy broke his RPM arm is because those shocks are to long. The chassis doesn't fully touch the ground when the shocks bottom out. I saw someone else try them and they are a bad idea. Great vid Chef! Couldn't agree more!
It's a tough truck for its size. Lots of 20ft jumps and into concrete too. My biggest problem is shock shafts bending or broken shock rod ends or BOTH. The Rovan direct fit shocks with 10mm thick shock shafts are coming in the mail so that I can keep SENDING IT! I do have an XLX2 and 1100kv motor with 35/47 gearing so that helps me control this beast in the air way better than stock.
@@chefbeardsly They are a few mm longer only. Some dudes at the Arrma forums have been having good luck with them. Also, you have to land on all 4 tires because the arms will probably break because of the 30lbs that these rigs weigh. Hehe. I'll let you know how it goes.
@@chefbeardsly Yeah unfortunately I bend a shock shaft almost every time I run the O8S. I have hopes for my EXB K8S. It's ready to be launched! I saw the video with your friend. It looked good 👍👍👍
Great review I’m about to buy one but was concerned about those same issues but I feel better but Looks like your front shocks are leaking is that a constant issue?
So I am still pretty new to your channel and you may have touched on this subject before but I'll ask anyway. Did you go with a thicker diff fluid at any point in time? I took my Outcast 8s(My 1st ARRMA) out for the first time yesterday and got some slow motion footage but it appears to me that the front tires balloon way too easily right off the start. Would you mind having a quick look at my latest vid post and give me your thoughts on the mater? It would be greatly appreciated, much Thanks! Keep the updates Coming brother!
That dude was probably running rovan 1/5 scale shocks 10mm shafts. The holes on the shock pistons on those are so big you need to run diff fluid for them to work
Best upgrade for the Outcast 8s, put it in a box and ship it to a new owner. Mine has been an absolute turd. Ive literally never owned a RC that breaks or has broken more in the first month of ownership.
@@chefbeardsly Lol. Seems lots of people do. Meanwhile im over here like "how the hell are people keeping theirs in one piece?" First problem was the center diff seperated and spilled all the fluid all over the inside of the trans (the only part i didnt check the screws for tightness), second break was a shock tower split in half, third issue which is built in and thought it was coming loose was sloppy steering, tires didnt stay glued to the rims even for one run (which was easy to fix but annoying as hell), next was more my fault but broke an arm on the rear, the problem was it literally exploded into like 30,000 pieces. Replaced the arm with RPM and hit a fairly small rock and it pulled the screws out of the bulkhead and bent the pivot brace. The rear upper camber links will not stay together and im going to get some exb versions. Pinion comes loose all the fuggin time even with locktight. Last breakage was the spider gears in the diff blew up. It has been sitting on the shelf for about 2 months now because the parts (not all but most parts) for the thing are on backorder. I can get a whole assembled diff but i want to have spares for when it breaks again. To be honest though, it will sit on the shelf a lot as i lost the trust in it staying together. The most brittle RC ive got in my collection. The Arrma Typhon is heading down that road too and i just recently got it used but upgraded. Only 1 of 2 RCs ive purchased used. Ive got 15 RCs and the Outcast is the last to be grabbed at this point.
@@SebastianLong that's crazy man sounds like the luck I had with my xmaxx I was always like man how are people not breaking theirs lol but everyone has different experiences
@@chefbeardsly I personally picked the Outcast because of its lower CG (probably just because its wider) and isnt as clumsy as the X-Maxx. X-Maxx is cool, just not for me and where i run RCs. My favorite RC is my 5ive T and while durable as hell, isnt designed to be jumped like the x-maxx or o8s/k8s, as far as electric goes, the Super Rock Rey is my favorite. The Outcast was meant to be a replacement for the Losi LST 3XLE which i have retired because it is becoming impossible to find and mine still works and is in very good shape. I bought a lot of protective parts for it like T-Bone bumpers and skidplates as well as the Russian indestructible body. I wanted it to stay in good shape and purchased the Outcast after having seen videos from people like RCGuy 81 and Rich Duperdash. I cant see how they keep them in one piece even with the M2C parts. Ive not even jumped mine higher than 2 feet yet, maybe im exagerating and jumped it higher, but may as well be two feet. Other than that i run hillclimbs and a spot that is off camber and has ruts across it, makes for a lot of tumbles and some wild runs.
Just opened my Outcast 8s. Hoping to have time to go through it all tomorrow night and test her out Monday! I’m not launch em high etc. Like rough terrain etc. More monster truck style bashing than sending it and all that. My big breakage is almost all from clipping a pole or trees or curb etc etc with one wheel. It’s just gonna happen where I bash. So I just leave those parts stock on my rigs. Those type hits are gonna break whatever so 🤷🏼♂️ Thx for the vid!
Just subscribe brother nice video. Getting the Outcast EXB soon just putting in stock electronics from jenny's RC. Please do to the same to me. Thanks what do you think of Force Hobbies?
The people that whine about rc’s make me laugh. What do you expect is going to happen when you launch it 20-30 feet in the air and 40 feet away from its take off spot. There is ABSOLUTELY no indestructible Rc car on the market and NEVER will be when the bashing of these vehicles gets harder and harder. I started out in this hobby in the 80’s and you want to talk about fragile plastic 😂 these things are leaps and bounds stronger than then not even close. So suck it up cry babies and just bash it and fix it and if you complain about what it costs to fix these you might want to find a new hobby because this is definitely not the hobby for tight pockets. I have an Outcast 8s and the things a beast.

Honest review bro I love my outcast 8s takes a beating every time it’s totally worth it!

I really want this truck.

It looks like a beast. Great video.
If you put a bigger motor you wouldn’t nosedive just need the wheel speed & it will save the battery try and chassis 👍👍good review 🛠🛠
Shhhhhh I have an upgrade coming lol
💭🤔 Do you have your droop screws set that will help your shock shafts
@rufusyoungblood9274 this is a really old video I limited the shocks internally and put m2c shafts on the rpm arms don't have droop screws

I herd those shocks are to long and over extend the arms and can snap arms buy thats just what I herd

YES. Finally a logo!
Well not yet but it's getting worked on lol
@@chefbeardsly well that’s what I meant lol
How long does it take to charge a battery
Depending the mah around 30 min or a little longer for the higher mah
What’s up Chef people don’t get it the truck weighs 30 pounds if xmaxx weighed 30 pounds it would break too I have a outcast 8s I fucking love it
Love mine too
