The second aircraft is a avro Shackleton, it was never a bomber, it was primarily a maritime patrol/anti submarine warfare aircraft, some were modified as airborne early warning aircraft and it was those aircraft that were retired in1994. This aircraft would have been replaced much earlier than that by the BAC nimrod. The third aircraft is a gloster meteor, it was an early generation jet fighter.
Why do people who make videos of derelict aircraft know absolutely diddley squat about either the aircraft they are looking at, or even aircraft in general?
The Avro Shackleton: "Ten thousand rivets flying in close formation". It was powered by 4 Rolls Royce Griffon engines, and served in the RAF from 1949 to 1994.
Thanks for showing what happens to unattended aircraft. Kids crawling through it, ugly graffiti spraying, stealing parts, damaging the interior.... 🤮 They looked pristine once.
I love the respect you showed these legendary machines, especially the Shackleton and how impressed you were with them! Good stuff 👍🏻Thankfully, they have found better homes now. Not sure why I didn't see your video before.
What a magnificent find! Hard to believe that the big plane stopped operating a year after I was born in 1994. Such a shame all that fantastic engineering has gone to waste which could possibly have been put on display in a hangar which would've made a great museum. We unfortunately live in a very wasteful society in this day and age. Thanks for sharing your findings which really did took off..lol.
James F You're right, I would love to see this in a museum, sadly I think it's beyond the point of restoration now. I'm going to be keeping my eye on what goes on with it. Apparently the planes will be gone by November, no one knows what will happen to them yet. Thanks again for the positive feedback, love the pun, not quite as bad as my toilet one in the theme park haha 😄
They could easily be put in a museum for static display with volunteers & donations. You can use it to teach aircraft mechanic students for a class project to get the restoration work.
Ross Wallace Adventures Thanks Ross, glad you liked the pics. I spent hours debating whether or not to put them in because of copyright but decided that I'd get away with fair use in the end. I'm glad that I used them. But yeah that would be really great! When's your Tots TV vid coming?
What a shame that avro Shackleton isn't in a museum it's a disgrace it's ended up in such a state, my father flew in them and Lancaster when he did his military service in RAF in 50s and 60s, so he may even have flown in this one ,
Alan Ratcliffe It really is a shame. This airfield is being sold and flats are being built there I think. It really is a shame, I have no idea what will happen to these planes when the redevelopment starts, I hope that they do what they can to save them if it’s not too late. Thank you for sharing!
Where these lanes are,are just down the road from me,the planes was abandoned because the owner fell seriously Ill and could no longer 1look after and maintain them. My father was ask to help clear the grounds for the man but his health deteriorate more so had to sell them off. The yellow chopper is at the local wildlife park.
The seats in the first plane aligned along the desk would be cool as desk chairs. Leave the aviation primer green, seal it with a flat polyurethane, have them upholstered real comfy like and mounted on swiveling pedestals. You could even add springs to allow them to rock back. Could be cool with a flight simulator set up or just for watching TV.
Saint Steven Awesome idea! These planes are getting scrapped soon, might be worth contacting the owner to see if they have any plans for stuff like that, or if they are just going to get rid of the lot.
the Avro Shackleton was a follow on to the Lancaster bomber and was used as a flying radar station as such but was never used as a bomber/fighter whilst in service with the RAF and were withdrawn from service around 1994/95 but dont quote me their but the best way i herd somebody describe a Shackleton was 4 engines and leather a proper machine.
Luke Bennett Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing the info. I did predict that this plane never did any bombing as well, I was right about something for once haha
Im an ex RAF aircraft engineer i worked on these a bit. This was a maritime patrol aircraft its been well gutted! The item at 8:51 is possibly an avionics bay or radar? Cant see very well. So sad to this beautiful aircraft treated like this as they are trying to get one of these flying again! 10:16 no guns that was an observers position as was the ‘tail gun’ area. Third aircraft was a Meteor!
The Flying Fortress was a totally different aircraft....the Boeing B17. This is an Avro Shackleton which is descended from the Avro Lincoln which in turn was a development of the Avro Lancaster.
@@jackattackz4938 the Shackleton was used as a Maritime Reconnoissance aircraft. It saw limited use as a bomber in the 1960’s in Aden as part of colonial policing. This variant was never used as AEW, that was the earlier Mk.2 which had a tail wheel rather than a nose wheel. They were retired in 1991.
the shackleton was not a bomber it was a maratine partol aircrafe . it would hunt submarines and ships of the coldwar era it also has search and rescue elements it carries alsorts of equipment in the bomb bay such as depth charges sonar bouys and could drop canisyers containiing liferafts and supplies and were you said it had a gun it had a cannon on the nose
Sick video lou! Loved the history about the planes. It's such a shame they're being scrapped :/ I think they're going to be gone by November according to HOE. Cheers for the shoutout ;)
I saw Ross's video on this a few days ago. The planes are really neat. It's still sad to see them just left like that though. The third plane looks like nature is claiming it. The subtitles were very useful when it was windy lol! Great video as always and very interesting to watch.
Silvolf Thanks! They are amazing and I am really upset that they have been neglected like this. At some stage I need to get myself a new camera that allows for a mic to cut down on the wind but I can't afford it right now, the subtitles will have to do for now, glad they helped!

They were based at Lossie.

Stfu you ungrateful twat, go do it yourself

The last aircraft is a very, very, rare Gloster Meteor, the first jet to see service with the RAF. This was the two set trainer version, the T7 mod.

A crying shame.
Thank you for the lost treasures
Awesome vlog buddy that is one sick find
Great video again Lou, I enjoyed the old photos. Was an awesome weekend hopefully we get better weather for the wild camp on our next

Alan Ratcliffe There is an AEW mk,2 in the Manchester museum of science and industry (free admission) a lot of very interesting stuff there

Also round the side was a meteor, one of the first jets planes built.also their was a couple of hunters

Another well put together video! x
Thank you!
the Shackleton had a 14 hour endurance , whence the sleeping bunk beds

Are these still there....if so where is this??
The Shackleton has been recovered to Newquay.
Can you tell the location please?
The word graffiti & artist really don't belong in the same sentence.
No chance, the locals would burn whatever is left.
It's the British way, we don't like culture or history.
They used to refer to the second one as a flying fortress, because of its size and all the gunner decks.
The Lost Turtle That's awesome, I didn't know that. I can see why!
The Flying Fortress was a totally different aircraft....the Boeing B17. This is an Avro Shackleton which is descended from the Avro Lincoln which in turn was a development of the Avro Lancaster.
The Lost Turtle The B-17 was nicknamed the "Flying Fortress", not the Avro shackelton. It was used as a AEW aircraft, not as a bomber.

The pilots would be sad to see them now 😢
Holy fuck, was that third plane a meteor?
I think it was, yes..... I did initially think Canberra, but the canopy was the wrong shape, plus the Canberra is half as big again than a Meteor.....
your videos is very fun
Daniel Jordan Thank you!
Like half the information you've given in this is inaccurate. Even a quick Wikipedia search would tell you that...
ww2? change the name to cold war aircraft lol where is this please?
There post ww2
Lol 😂 but miltary
