This was the first video that sparked my interest several years ago. Today I run my small private business making heads or even full bodies of animals on demand. And a room in my house is themed as a trophy room. Its filled with paper mache animals, life size. Thankyou for the great help you were.
Girl you have the patience of a saint lol. I get sooo irritated just using and making things out of polymer clay. I can't sit there and tape together pieces of paper and foil into a deer head. Awesome project tho! Haha
***** Haha, I'm surprised I was able to power through this project because normally my patience is non existent! Thanks for checking out the video, I'm glad you liked it :)
Omg, I’m making two of these (one with and one without antlers), and I’m going to coat them in pale blue glow in the dark pigment + mod podge so I can make a pair of patronuses!! THANK YOU SO MUCH.♥️♥️
TheCraftyApples Hah! I can totally relate to that. I see a project and I MUST start it right then and keep going until I finish it! I've logged many long nights, haha. Thanks for checking out my video :D If you do end up making one, I'd love to see the finished product!
she told us to cut and assemble pieces as and when we need them as it took her forever,I would say to ask if the pages are printed out in order do we use them in the order they were printed out? then stick together, hope that helps x
Oh this is fantastic!! You are so talented! I'm so glad I found your tutorial and that you did all that hard work on the pattern, so that I could just waltz in and reap the benefits of your hard work! 😊 I want to build this and then apply textiles over it for a textile taxidermy decoration for Christmas. It's perfect. Thanks so much!! x
This is so very cool. I've had a hankering for a glitter deer head to use as an alternative to a Christmas wreath, but they're so expensive. Saving this to have a go at making one next year. Thank you!
proportions on this are perfect I know the geometric pattern was labor intensive but well worth it !The deer turned out beautifully!!!I love the paint job you did !
Madam Vonkook Thank you! I'm glad you liked it :D Thanks for checking it out! It was a bit of a pain to piece together, but yeah, I was totally happy with how it came out :)
Sorry, I know it's a pain... It was really hard to create to, haha. But I recently released a video showing a different technique you could use to make an animal bust: ua-cam.com/video/CUuCDYIbodM/v-deo.html Maybe that can help!
chezlin I still haven't figured out how to put the antlers in the head without it flopping down and taking everything apart. thanks, I'll check it out.
Aw, I'm sorry. What kind of paper are you using? I used cardstock, so it was more rigid and held it's shape well. If you're using tape, you may need to use way more to keep the antlers in place.
After two nights of patience I finally have all the pieces together. I printed everything on thin A3 paper (I couldt print on thick paper). So I had to cut out all the pieces and draw them on thicker paper so I could tape those together. Lot's of work. I think my head is bigger than yours and a little bit more fragile. Hopefully the paper mache will make it more firm. Thanks anyway for this video. It is very nice to watch and you have a good voice.
+Wabayon Dang, sorry you had to basically do double the work! I forgot how big my finished head was... if I had it with me I'd measure it to let you know so we could see if they ended up to be different sizes or not (I gave it to my sister). Let me know how the paper macheing goes, I hope it helps to strengthen it!
My family and I are moving soon, We are finally able to buy a house, So I can do anything with my room. I needed some things for my walls, And This will be one! You saved me plenty of time, I loved this tutorial! Thank youuuu! -Kiden
I just made one! Came out awesome! I'm currently waiting for the clay to dry, but it looks really nice! The pattern took FOREVER to put together, but it's SO worth it! I tried to make one without it, and it came out terrible. So glad you made this video. It was super helpful!
Madeline Lessard Yay! I'm glad it worked out for ya! :D Yeah, the pattern can be a pain in the butt, but if you stick with it, eventually it comes together. I'd love to see your finished product if you're willing to share a pic! :)
Instead of classic glass balls to decorate the Christmas tree, I made reindeer figure cut outs, painted white and sprinkled with silver glitter. The tree lights shine off the reindeer. Beautiful effect. You must have a figure saw machine. Such as a Dremel figure saw. About €100 .plus.
After stumbling upon your channel last night, I decided to watch all of your d.i.y. playlist. My final thoughts are that you are so unbelievably smart and talented. I love your work, and I'm so happy that I found your channel. I love crafts so much and yours are great because they are original. I have been known to watch approximately five-hundred craft videos in one day, and yes, you did read that correctly, I'm obsessed with diy. Because I have watched thousands of craft videos, I obviously find many different versions of the exact same crafts, and get annoyed with how many crafter's just copy each others ideas. That's why it's refreshing to find an artist like you who has original and smart crafts, and because of this, I say *thank-you* and please, please, please keep making crafting videos!🐼
+Jessica Smith Aw thank you so much!! I try as hard as I can do to original stuff, and if i do make something that's really similar to another craft, I try to add a little more or I try to explain why or how things work so my video is more than just another repeat of another persons, so I'm glad you noticed and have been enjoying my content! :D I'll try my best to keep putting out videos every week! :)
Hello, I am planning on using paper mache and paper clay to create a head for a cosplay of Uatu the Watcher. I have never done these things before, but your videos have inspired me to try something new! I have done other cosplays in the past, but never masks, and never this way. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing the information you do on your channel. I will be using many of the techniques you use on my cosplay!
I am going to do this next week when I have time, and I plan to paint it silver and white to make it Harry Potter inspired so that it looks like Harry's patronus. Thank you very much for this tutorial, it is really well explained and I can follow it easily. Keep it up, you're gorgeous. ❤️
Wow!!!!! Your so talented he is beautiful very very well done, I wouldn't even be able to figure out how to put the pattern pieces together let alone all the 3D and painted it's so gorgeous I love love love him from Nikki in the UK XX
Great job! Thank you for sharing! I see so many ppl asking for the template for the deer head. I think with some imagination, a balloon and cone shape you can make the core of the deer head with paper mache, then just add the details to it with the tin foil, & masking tape.
khelie pascal Thanks! I do have a link to the template in the description box- I even say in the video that it'll be there... but I guess some people forget by the end of the video, or didn't hear me say it or something. :-\ The balloon and cone would be a good idea to try though! :)
Lizzie Bell Aw thanks! Yeah, assembling the deer head takes some time and patience, but totally worth it in the end! I'd love to see how yours turns out when you finish it! :D
Silvi Jano I used A4 paper, there were a few small insignificant problems with the sizing, but it wasn't a big deal, even if you make small mistakes it turns out well when you put it together:)
I've been using party favor bouncy balloons to make various heads. Mostly SEC team mascots & cartoon characters. These balloons ARE a little tougher than regular balloons but make it difficult to make much more than round. 1 other thing, I use a cardboard box with a hole cut in the bottom, Big enough for your head to fit in, & use the rubber band to tie the balloon to the box. It make a very good base to work off of! OH yeah look up "Gourmet Paper mache" or Dan the Monster-man! I know you'll be impressed with his Dragons
George A. Fant Great tips! I've been wanting to try making one of these heads with just balloons and cardboard for the base shape. I've seen Dan's work, his stuff amazing!
Beautiful work and thank you for the incredible tutorial! I only think that there is a minor misnomer here, since this technique is called Papiers collés istead of Papiers Maché. And keep the great work!
Lately I've been struggling with art, gaining such disinterest in it entirely. It's making me sad especially because I see that it's really starting to let down my teacher. He has always been so enthusiastic with me and sees me as a star student of his , and for some reason watching this somehow lit a spark in me and makes me want to create More! So I know this comment may come off as extremely odd! But I just Feel the need to thank you.
+Bryanaandleah I totally understand how you feel... I'm still coming out of an artistic slump. But I'm so glad that I'm helping to inspire you to create more! :D You're very welcome!!
You are such a badass! I've never seen something so cool! I stumbled across this vid because I wanted to make a whale bookend and couldn't figure out how to do it without carving something from wood. Definitely going to do it with this method instead and put sand or gravel inside to make it heavy.
Before anyone makes this or something similar please note that using a flour and water paste for paper mache will very likely form mold within a week if you do not add salt to the mixture.
Thank you very much for your time and knowledge. This tutorial worth a thumbs up and so forth. Now I have confidence to complete my human like head form.
One thing I would suggest is to work on one sheet at a time. Cut it out and then start piecing them together and then start on the next sheet. I cut out everything and then started piecing them together and it was like a gigantic puzzle, haha. :D
This was really informative. Any chance you can make an entire deer? I really would like one for holiday decorating but buying one is out of the question. Thanks!
+Darlene I can try to put together something to do with a whole deer, but probably not made with the 3D template and stuff because it took me a long time to figure out how to do the deer head in the 3D program, so I don't know if I'd be able to render a whole deer body and piece it together and all that jazz. Hopefully what I come up with will work out for you! :)
I was thinking...if the air-dry paper clay is sufficiently 'smooth', then there is no need to paste the brown paper-strip layer. (So can reduce 1 step and a few hours of drying time.)
This was really so amazing! I have a request ma'am, if possible can you please do a paper mache unicorn like this 3D template? I actually needed help for my college fest decorations.
Hey, I just watched the vedio, I have to submit a paper mache tomorrow and there is not much time left I have printed this out and cut out the pieces and have folded them but I dont know which piece would be attached to which one please help
Can I skip the paper mache and cover in fabric or should I do paper Madge first and finish with fabric? Also, can I use paper clay over the entire antler structure for a more natural look?
+David heather davis Awesome! I'd love to see how it turns out :D I have thought about doing a unicorn, or some other kind of animal, but using a different kind of technique :) I'm not sure when I'll do it, but it is in my "to do" list :)
you are extremely talented. i would like to make a dragon head the exsact same way that you created your dear head ....what program did you use to make a cut out design ?
I Daniel Jr Thank you! You could probably modify the deer head a little bit to make it a dragon (I kind of want to do that now!) I used Blender to make the 3d figure (www.blender.org/) and Pepakura (www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/) to turn it into a paper craft template. :)
I Daniel Jr I barely knew my way around those programs :O And it's been a while since I've used them so I probably can barely remember :-\ You could totally find tutorials here on UA-cam though! That's how I learned :)
You make everything look so easy 👍🏽😀
Ya

I wish youtube had a love button. This was amazing

Wow I'm speechless. This was practically flawless...looks just like the real one I have hanging on my wall.

Thank you! :D I'm glad you liked the video, and I hope you like what's to come in the future :)
I'm at a loss of words. You are incredibly talented! I wouldn't be able to do something like that in a million years.. wow..
this is so cool! if you can, will you make more paper mache tutorials? i love them
+Jace Rug thank you! I'll try brainstorming some ideas :)
I don't think there is a anything you can't make. Your attention to detail is so amazing and this deer just looks sooo good!! Keep 'em coming ❤
What program did you use to make the 3D image? :) And how did you manage to print it out, did you use a separate program for the pattern?
pepakura

I don’t even understand what just happened! I’m mad I didn’t find this 6 years ago! This is incredible and I gotta give it a try!
I must make one. Right now. At 2am. Right now.
TheCraftyApples Hah! I can totally relate to that. I see a project and I MUST start it right then and keep going until I finish it! I've logged many long nights, haha.
Thanks for checking out my video :D If you do end up making one, I'd love to see the finished product!
My son is a big game hunter. This will be a perfect gift for me to make him. I love your tutorial
names of the two programs is one blender
How can anyone hate this. This is called art work people. Best 8 minutes.
Judith Calles Aw, thanks :) Thanks for stopping by to check the video out, too :D
Is there anyway you can show us how you assembled the deer head ..it's kinda hard to understand
she told us to cut and assemble pieces as and when we need them as it took her forever,I would say to ask if the pages are printed out in order do we use them in the order they were printed out? then stick together, hope that helps x
What a Talented person!! You made that look so easy.....I'm inspired.
this is awesome you're a rockstar
+Ilene McInnes (Creativity Artistry) Thanks!

I was overwhelmed less than two minutes in, but it was fascinating to watch you make it!

I've gotten quite a few requests for this, and I totally plan on doing one soon!
Thank you for the video. You are so talented that you made the whole process look so easy. I really enjoy learning from you.

This is a great tutorial as you have a great voice and explain everything well. I am glad you showed the decorated version.
Rachel Robinson Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D and happy to hear my voice is good, haha. Thanks for checking the video out! :)
Took me an entire day non stop to put it all together! The template I mean. And I'm not exaggerating! Antlers took so long!
Sapphire O'Connell Yeah, it's kind of like putting together a puzzle. Glad to see you were able to put it together though! :D

I think this was a great tutorial. Great job on the ears, nose and eyes. Thanks for providing the link the template.
+R Boegel Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! :) Thanks for checking it out :D
This was a REALLY GOOD video, Thank YOU for sharing your talents and knowledge!
I kinda like the geometrical shape of the deer head
Yeah, I kinda did too. I might go back and make another :)
chezlin you should!😊
+chezlin Yessss! U definitely should make another! This is awesome!
The balloon and cone would be a good idea to try though! :)
Oh my God! You are such a good artist! I'm trying it right now.. A bit tricky but ill get there some how!
Lizzie Bell Aw thanks! Yeah, assembling the deer head takes some time and patience, but totally worth it in the end! I'd love to see how yours turns out when you finish it! :D
I followed your tutorial and my amazing deer head is now drying.. it took me a lot of time but it was worth it^^ you rock~
Awesome!! I'm glad yours turned out good! :D You're right, it is quite a bit of work, but it's so satisfying when it starts to come together! :)
what format did you print the deer head template A4 or A3? and some of the corners go beyond the pages format di you have an problem with them?
Silvi Jano I used A4 paper, there were a few small insignificant problems with the sizing, but it wasn't a big deal, even if you make small mistakes it turns out well when you put it together:)
Your so good at art I'm doing a paper mashed wolf for homework and this really helped
+crista rules Thank you! I hope your wolf turns out great! :D
You have a nice demonstration lady... it's nice!
Excellent work. You are a very talented young lady. Thanks for sharing.... Ax
I love this! I'm gonna use your video as a guide to make a deer planter I want to do with clay! Thanks a million!
I actually made one, using the template and it turned out to be perfect!! I still have to paint it!! 😜

Just brilliant. Super presentation and explanation. Thank you.

+SeanCowlesGameplay Awesome!! I'd love to see how it turned out! :D

You are extremely talented! GOOD JOB. I ENJOYED THIS VIDEO SO MUCH.
+Anthony Dee Aw thank you, I'm glad you liked it! :D
+chezlin you're welcome 😄😊
I made a paper maché deer using the template. Thank you so much!!!
Awesome!! You're welcome! :D
Really GORGEOUS!
Thank you my dear!
Thank you so much! I've been searching on the internet for free templates of ''geometric'' animals for forever. :')
You're welcome! I'm glad I was able to help you out :)

Great video and great job with the deer head. Could you please tell me if you have a recipe for the handmade clay?
Loving it. U make it look easy. Will try this weekend
+Akhil Hafiz Aw thanks! I hope it's going well!! :D
I am speechless , it is beautiful❤️
You are so talented!! I don't have much of an artistic side but it has never stopped me from trying. ;)
Thank you! Never stop trying! :)

*gorgeous Deer Head Great Job*
I was thinking...if the air-dry paper clay is sufficiently 'smooth', then there is no need to paste the brown paper-strip layer. (So can reduce 1 step and a few hours of drying time.)
how exceptionally talented you are!
I made it, it took a long time to put together the deer head and it was confusing, but the end product is great
I'm sorry it was confusing! It's like a big 3d puzzle. I'm glad you were able to figure it out and that it turned out great!!
Could this be a Trophy Head Hunting Cure? Sure to keep them busy.
beautiful making
This was really so amazing! I have a request ma'am, if possible can you please do a paper mache unicorn like this 3D template? I actually needed help for my college fest decorations.
I second this
Hey, I just watched the vedio, I have to submit a paper mache tomorrow and there is not much time left I have printed this out and cut out the pieces and have folded them but I dont know which piece would be attached to which one please help
Omg same this is happening to me right now! I'm so confused it makes no since
How u make your paper clay? I think u hv better(easier) ways for it since it lessons r Rly understandable n inspiring
This is great! I can't wait to try it! Thank you so much for the pattern and tutorial! I really enjoy your videos--keep going!
Can I skip the paper mache and cover in fabric or should I do paper Madge first and finish with fabric? Also, can I use paper clay over the entire antler structure for a more natural look?
Young Lady, You are so impressive!! I just subscribed. Thank you very much....

You could probably modify the deer head a little bit to make it a dragon (I kind of want to do that now!)
I used Blender to make the 3d figure (www.blender.org/) and Pepakura (www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/) to turn it into a paper craft template. :)
oh teach me,,,ill be your student!!
I Daniel Jr I barely knew my way around those programs :O And it's been a while since I've used them so I probably can barely remember :-\ You could totally find tutorials here on UA-cam though! That's how I learned :)
do you happen to remember the names of the programs?
Yeah, they're in the first reply I made to your comment. I also included a link to each one
