I don't want to create an parameter just to pass the system language but would like to directly pass the environment variable for sy-langu in SPRAS field to avoid hardcoding
Sorry for let reply you can't pass sy-langu in spras since CDS will not understand Sy-* variables. But you can use session variable instead "$session.system_language" which is copy of system variable like this:- _matdesc[spras = $session.system_language ].maktx, You no need to create parameter for this.
how can I use the alias name in the case statement of the same select query ? Is there any way ? for example : select ....... a.matnr, a.menge * 10 as totalamt, case when totalamt > 1000 then 'HIGH' else 'LOW' END as category, etc etc ...
