- May 12, 2011. Aaron Tveit (CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, NEXT TO NORMAL) sings "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the opening event of the Broadway softball league.
His voice is flawless. Truly. I love this man so much. He has so much talent and seems like a friendly, down-to-earth kind of guy. I love him in Les Miserables and Graceland.
I really appreciate that he didn't put in vocal riffs. It sounds so much better sang like this... how it's SUPPOSED to be sung...plus the fact that it's Aaron just makes it more amazing!
See you don't need all those riffs to sing the national anthem well he made it nice and simple and it was still amazing love you Aaron😄😍

We’ll kind of, the Broadway shows all play softball up against each other in the summer. It’s been a tradition since the 1950’s
You can tell a lot about the character of a singer by how they sing the National Anthem. The humility from such a talented man is beyond me.
Around 0:40 the man in the back removes his hat and places it over his heart. Awesome.
Yep, a very good performance. Just a note: your national anthem is one of the most difficult pieces to sing, and sing good at that, most of all because of its range of one and a half octaves. Even experienced and trained singers have only about two or three notes from which they can sing it if they want their voice not to break.
I've always thought it was rather stupid to have the national anthem be this song that's so difficult for most people to sing even halfway decently. That was even before I was aware of the lyrics about slavery in the third stanza.

Franchesca Carrasco You probably wouldn't recognize him but he played 'Enjolras', the leader of the Revolutionaries in 'Les Miserables' (the movie) except that they had him in a blonde curly wig. He's well known more so in theatre but is still a main character in the US made TV Series 'Graceland'. You are so lucky to have talent like this in America. I have a playlist on my UA-cam channel under his name if you ever want to see some of his true brilliance.
Personally I like that response. "He's overrated" definitely needs a "you're overrated". For just about any subject.

I'd have a hard time focusing on playing softball if I had just heard Aaron hot freaking sexy Tveit sing one of the world's most beautiful songs ever.
Please note that he actually sang the national anthem in 3/4 time, and didn't add any ridiculous riffs or unnecessary random stuff to that...

Oh my he is just beyond amazing! No one can ever amount to him. And he sang it regularly with no bedazzlements or anything. That just shows how great he is!!
I love the dude that´s just standing there in the background mesmerized by Aaron´s voice, and when it finishes, he´s just like "AHEM, umm, let´s go play some ball.. I wasn´t staring.... I wasn´t."

It’s the broadway softball league and each cast plays as a team, it says catch me bc he was part of the catch me if you can cast back then!
Go watch Graceland and Les Miserables and then come tell me he's still overrated because he's fanfuckingtastic.

I have a question that is a little out of place, with everyone swooning over Aaron (not that I blame you :). I'm not American, but I'd like to know what do you usually do after the National Anthem. Like, do you clap or not? In my country, children are taught not to clap after the anthem and people really adhere to this rule. So, what's it like in America? Ah, it's really a beautiful song, by the way.
Maybe the people playing baseball don't like Aaron's voice and are hoping he will finish up soon. Yes...it's possible that there are intelligent, non-hating, fun-loving people out there in the world who prefer the male voice that didn't graduate from the "popping nasal boys choir".

Honestly I was worried about him playing Enjorlas (do you hear the people sing is one of my favorite songs). Even after I loved his next to normal performance, his voice just didn't fit for me. But this was amazing.
I also loved that he just sang the anthem for what it was an didn't try to show off. Singing a national anthem isn't about showcasing your voice. He did a great job!

I usually love Aaron and his voice is as amazing as normal, but I just don't like his phrasing for this rendition of the national anthem.
