I am not sure if you threw away the mascaras you used already, but if you haven't there is a site called wandsforwildlife that takes them for cleaning off small animals in a gentle way. If you wash them and save them up, they are always looking for mascara wand donations. Just in case you're interested. Thank you for the video. ^_^

I'm LOVING this declutter series! I was wondering if you might do a brush declutter? I feel like people have way more brushes than they need and would love to know how to narrow down a brush collection for just the essentials!
Yas!!! I absolutely second this proposal! I have a huuuuuge collection of brushes (and have just asked for another set as my Christmas gift 😮) but because they’re brushes, not makeup as such, I wouldn’t know how much is really too much. I did actually declutter before I categorized and homed my current stash, but I suspect I may have the number of brushes a pro MUA has! Is there such a thing as too many? By what criteria would you justify decluttering any? I’m sure these are questions Hannah could answer 😅❤
@@maddyfox8545 I was just thinking about this because I bought a bunch in the rephr 50% off sale and now my brush holders are even more stuffed than they already were 😅 I think I might declutter some that are worn out or that I literally never reach for… I realized I keep buying different eyeshadow brushes but always reach for the same few, so maybe I need to get rid of all but those
@@nillavanilla989 yes it’s a tough one isn’t it?! Maybe putting together all the brushes of the same type and then picking one (or two? 🤷♀️) from each category and keeping only those, might help? Oh but I love each of my collections (Wayne Goss, Sonia G, Refh, Sigma and Hot and Flashy’s brushes) just sooo much. Not to mention my pot of individual brushes that I’ve chosen specifically because they’re beautiful for certain jobs. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to let go like Hannah does 😩😩😩
If you use them and they aren't totally frayed or disintegrating yet, why throw them away? Just so long as you clean them regularly, they don't have the gross factor old makeup has.
@@fivestar3910 I guess that’s true. I certainly spend a lot of time cleaning and curating my brushes. I think if I don’t buy ANY more I’ll be ok. It’s just, like Hannah mentioned, I tend to overlook brushes I had intended to use, purely because I am overwhelmed by the size of my collection and they sort of get lost in the overwhelm. I have recently purchased new storage for them though that separates them out so that helps. I’ll keep enjoying for now 😀

I love mascara. I know eyelash extensions and false lashes are really popular and can look gorgeous, but I love the "beauty ritual" of putting on mascara. It's so satisfying to have a few favourite mascaras to pick and choose from. I've learned to really appreciate small and comb-like mascara wands, rather than thinking bigger is better (especially for small, partially-hooded eyes). Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on these mascaras and show the wands up close. Have a good weekend!
Love this type of decluttering vid- the top view with just products and talking hands reminds me of Matilda on Video, and the detailed rundown of a range of favorites (as opposed to hundreds at once) is so informative.

I swear Hannah no one can better explain mascara than you. I could listen to you explain the texture changes and mascara wands for HOURS. Okay maybe not that hyperbolic, but definitely an hour

A thought: Why not get a metal lash comb? It would serve the same purpose for you as the wand from Ilia Limitless Lash did.
I also have two mascaras going at a time, one of them is always a tubing mascara that I use as a final coat mascara on days that I need to be waterproof. (This was a recommendation from one of HLPs viewers in a comment a while ago, and I definitely recommend.) I wander around the mascara arena willy nilly trying them all as it is such a low risk game.

I always have three mascaras: a waterproof curling mascara, a burgundy colored mascara and a goopy glam mascara like the Elf Big Mood. I love mascara reviews because it's one of those places in makeup where I am willing to experiment with different brands and formulae. My only mascara rule is no big mascara tubes. I hate the oversized tubes they sell at the drugstore because they don't fit in my storage.

I finally decluttered some blushes I thought I would never part with thanks to your declutter series. I love them but they are liquids and super old. It's time. It was so hard (why am I like this?) but I feel so much better now. Thank you Hannah.
I keep hearing influencers mention that mascara should only be used for 3 months, but as far as I recall, all the mascaras I’ve used have a 6-month use-by symbol

I wear that Gucci mascara. It’s the only one that seems not to flake or make a mess. It also doesn’t burn my eyes. It’s buildable but can also be natural. My HG mascara. I buy two a year with no issue. Was so happy to find it after trying dozens.
I'm on a mascara kick lately. I know this is going to be good. Can I recommend one for someone on here or even Hannah. Hear me out I went to Walmart I got a sculpting mascara from Black Radiance with this circle brush thing. SHOOK it has changed the game for me. The brush the bristles..... voluminous lifted long lashes and I don't poke my small hooded eyes out. 10/10 would recommend! Also whatever Hannah is keeping of course. I love this time of year all the declutter

This is a great video. Rarely do I see mascaras as part of a declutter and this served as a nice review roundup for me. I am about to use up my current mascara (Maybelline sky high in brown) and am on the lookout for something new.

I got the Big Mood mascara at TKmaxx for 4 bucks because I needed a waterproof one for a funeral and I definitely misjudged the size of the wand from your videos. The wand is Huge with a capital H - I like big wands like the Better than Sex or Sephora Size Up, but this is almost double the size (I'm holding the Sephora and Elf one side by side right now). I hope it thickens up soon, because it really is on the wetter side of mascaras. But it definitely is a good one. Thanks for the recommendation - I tend to be hesitant with drugstore products, because I often didn't have the best experiences with the products as a black woman in Germany (unfortunately we're often not considered as a targeted demographic for the products here).

One time a year, sometime in tbe Spring I think, Nordstrom does a buy 2 get 1 free on mascaras and that is when I buy the Chantecaille, which is the only one I use.

@makeupxka just reviewed tweezerman lash brush (and curler). You would love the lash tool and probably at Ulta or CVS …. Anywhere they carry tweezerman. Makes a HUGE difference in lash length /separation ❤🎉

No, it's already open so bacteria can and will start growing on it because the lid doesn't vacuum seal the product. Think of it like cereal, maybe you only eat it one a month and one box could theoretically last you a year, but it's going to go off before a year passes anyway because it's not about the use, it's about being exposed to the elements
My Beaty Counter mascara lasts a long time and makes my lashes feel healthy. Others in the drug store are irritating and dry out too soon..
The Kosas mascara has been one of the worst mascaras I’ve ever used! It never dried, gave me little to no volume or lengthening, and I could just walk around for half an hour and already have raccoon eyes! I feel so vindicated that you also dislike it

I love the gucci mascara but I bought it, used it maybe 2 weeks and the wand broke off inside the tube.

My vote is get rid of everything except the Make Beauty and Chantecaille mascara, but replace the Ilia and Gucci mascaras.
Does anyone else think that the ilia mascara has a funny smell? Idk I could almost appreciate it if it was more floral, but there’s something off about it. Whenever I put it on I’m just smelling my eyelashes all day 😂
I think it's supposed to be rose-scented! It smells that way to me, but smells strike different people so differently, I always feel like it's risky business to give something such a strong scent.
Another creator (I think maybe it was Julia Adams) said it smells like beer and that was totally my experience after having it for a month or so.
Yeah, I stopped using it for that reason. I found the brush uncomfortable as well.
