  • Create the juiciest beats and tastiest rhythms with nanobox | razzmatazz, a mini drum sequencer that combines powerful FM synthesis and sampling. Featuring advanced voice architecture, razzmatazz puts a huge range of percussive sounds at your fingertips-from deep and gritty kick drums to searing snare hits and crisp hi-hats. Perform using 8 touchscreen pads or your favorite midi controller, and craft up to 16 rhythms using an innovative visual sequencer that allows you to see all pad states and steps simultaneously. Shape the sound of each pad by combining any variation of two FM oscillators and a WAV file-plus two filters, two envelopes, a resonator, a snap generator, and three additional effects. You can even choose from four unique types of distortion to create incredibly distinct and powerful drum sounds. Enjoy massive analog drum sounds and an innovative feature set, all in a compact package that goes anywhere.
    - Perform with 8 drum and percussion pads using MIDI pads or the intuitive touch screen
    - Make beats right out of the box using 120 preset kits and sequences
    - Explore a huge range of presets and sounds from world-class sound designers-including dub, techno, IDM, classic rock, soul, and more
    - Tap or swipe to create rhythms using the new super stepper visual sequencer, and see the state of all 8 pads across 16 steps simultaneously
    - Record long sequences up to 64 steps, with steps sizes from 1/64 to 8 bars
    - Adjust primary parameters for each drum model using macro controls
    - Design your own percussion sounds by combining FM synthesis and WAV samples
    - Sculpt and fine tune the sound of each drum pad using filters, envelopes, distortion, a resonator, snap transient generation, bit crushing, and rate crushing
    - Add depth and color to your drum sounds using delay, reverb, and a cabinet distortion
    - Record via line input to craft new pad sounds and create samples up to 30 seconds long
    - Load your own WAV files via micro-SD
    - Integrate razzmatazz seamlessly with other synths, drum machines, and audio devices
    - Quickly and easily map MIDI controls to macro parameters and mixer settings

    It's been a lot of fun to play with. (I did a little bit of work on the owner's manual at the end.) Some surprising tricks under the hood, and really interesting sounds. Rewards experimentation in a big way!

    Can you please add pitch automation, like you did the with the velocity per step. That would open up so many possibilities. Thanks in advance.

    This is exciting, and I'm glad to see you guys are making more. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of this setup, or a breakdown of the 3 nanoboxes syncing with eachother. I've been eyeballing this Nano-line for a while. Maybe the next one will be something like a kaossilator? I think the market is a bit dry for live FX manipulation, especially at this price range.

    I’d love to see a full portable groovebox kind of like the op1 but with the aesthetic of these nanoboxes, all in one device. Looking forward to what you come up with next.

    It looks awesome but… couldn’t this all have gone into a blackbox firmware update? Some of the most requested features for the blackbox are introduced here like more effects, and easier rhythm sequencing. They’re very similar machines - outside of the effects, I have yet to see anything this can do that the blackbox doesn’t do better. Drum synthesis is interesting, but again - that would fit perfectly into the blackbox workflow.

      This little synth may look similar on the surface but is very different inside.

      @@1010music I read the manual and it seems like blackbox runs circles around this thing in every regard except where I mentioned before. Razzmatazz doesn’t even appear to have rolls, fills, or mute/solo grouping, all of which are present on groove boxes at or below this price point.
      I hate to be critical, as I love my blackbox and 1010music as a company, but I feel that the only reason to buy this over a blackbox or model:cycles would be if you absolutely needed it to fit in your pocket.

      @1010music  Рік тому +2

      We encourage you to check it out - in person - before forming your opinion. The razzmatazz does (more than) a few things the blackbox does not. Nanobox (all three) are companions to our other products rather than replacements.

    Looks slick. Will need to determine price but could be a winner if the interface is intuitive enough.
    Edit: it's £399. Will need to wait for reviews to see if that's good value. It's outside of impulse but territory, but below teenage engineering gouging

    • @connorcarbon

      The Lemon Drop is soooo dope. Could use some firmware updates for QoL / UI / UX type improvements but overall it is SOLID and I even found out I can run the line-out of a Zoom H3-VR binaural microphone into its input and change the Lemon Drop granular settings in a way that makes for "binaural spatial ear-tickly ASMR sounds" haha it's just a blast to play with and has put my long-running desire for a Tasty Chips GR-1 to rest! In many ways the Lemon Drop is better so I'm glad they came out with it to meet that need of lower-budget portable granular synth buyers. But god I don't know why they'd make such a tiny box that doesn't run on batteries

  • @astrofreq

    Is it redundant to have this and a Blackbox? Can this do things that my BB can't? Thanks. I'm completely sold on the color alone.

    • @1010music
      @1010music  Рік тому +1

      Not at all redundant. There are, of course, similarities in certain functions but the razzmatazz features a full, dual-voice FM synth + wav sample for each voice. Add the various digital FX like distortion, rate & bit crush, plus the new cabinet distortion and you will find the nanobox to be a great companion to your blackbox.

      The two units work really well together and compliment each other in different ways. I like using blackbox as the master sequencer to program the basic drum beat and then use razz’s sequencer to toggle additional percussion elements on & off in random ways.
