    My opinion as a student is they treat you like you're 2 when you're in highschool.. They are supposed to say when something is off but when I didn't do school work for months, my parents weren't told about it. They don't explain anything enough so you're left googling all the answers when you should know how to find them -this happens in math a lot, English isn't so bad about it but math, science and history are definitely the worst about it.
    This is just my opinion after using it for one school year, use it if you would like to but I thought someone might want to know about it.

      We didn't use it for high school, but I can see how it can be a little immature for older kids, especially if they didn't adapt their teaching technique for the older students. They should keep track of what you do and do not do in the reports section but they wouldn't come after your parents to let them know. Your parents would have to be checking in. Homeschooling is a lot different than school at home. I can see Time4Learning not being for everyone. We used it for a quarter of our homeschool and found it helpful when I (the parent) was too overwhelmed. I hope you find something that works for you and your education. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your experience with us. I find it really helpful.

      YES thank you for giving the pov of a high schooler. I got pulled outta school and was forced to do this for the last 4 months of school and omg they legit treat you like a kid. Like you said you're basically left googling answers because there's no explanation. Not to mention from my current experience they also have you take 2+ years of a foreign language when in high school I'm pretty sure it's just 2 the MAX. I guess if you want to do online learning for summer it's cool but for school school i wouldn't recommend

    I have used this program 2 years and love it kids work faster than regular school while learning at their speed. It grades and let's you set their minimum scores so you can set custom goals. It takes care of just about everything while being affordable. I have 4 kids, 2 are home schooled the others are under 2 and it makes juggling my routine efficient. I pay 35 a month for BOTH kids. Its amazing!

      @@mandyjones770 No, so far I haven't needed to purchase anything else. Sometimes their is science experiments that ask for supplies.. Dollar stores often have what I need. We did the same thing, we bought a lot of curriculum but I also work full-time from home so finding T4L was a Godsend for my family and we currently use it. I do incorporate other things where I am more hands-on on the weekends with them and sometimes during the week after work as well. so everything you said is definitely true. I sit down with them if they are struggling with something so it’s just all-around perfect. Printing out the worksheets and everything is beautiful. I love the reports option at the end and it’s a very interactive program and they are not just sitting there clicking just like you said but actually learning.

So far the kids are supposed to return to school April 13th but I really don't see that happening. Maybe have others join in on what you are doing. I also don't think the kids are going back to school either. In NY it's April 20. Only if your parent creates your transcripts and high school diploma. You'll also need to take college entrance exam, ACT, or SAT test. Look up the homeschool requirements for your state for graduation. In Texas, homeschools are recognized as private schools and honor the report cards and transcripts parents keep. But other states have a LOT of requirements that may need to be done quarterly. Time4Learning is NOT a school. It is just a homeschool curriculum (think textbooks and worksheets) for parents to use while they homeschool their kids. The custom parent report is a great report to use when making report cards and transcripts. Also UA-cam videos about hownto create homeschool high school records.

    • @BloomingBrilliantHomeschoolers
      @BloomingBrilliantHomeschoolers  2 роки тому

      That is a great question. If you are feeling unmotivated or a curriculum (which is what time4learning is) doesn't work for you, you should research other options. Time4Learning is a curriculum and NOT a school. Your parent has to write a transcript and follow all the steps for your state to get into college. This may include getting a GED or working with a community college or high school for credits and transcript depending on your location and the rules there.

    Just new on the homeschooling and haven't started yet, but doing research. I came across Time4Learning and it looks really decent. Do you know within "Language Arts" does it include things like literature, reading, spelling and grammar, etc. and does "Social Studies" include history? Where I live we have to have a curriculum that covers certain subjects and there are more than those 4, but I wasn't sure if certain ones were included in their categories. We have to have reading, spelling, mathematics, science, history, civics, literature, writing, and English grammar. I would just need to know if this was everything I needed for the requirements and basics and could just supplement my own stuff for like art, physical education, etc.

      Each state is different, but yes as a parent you get to decide which grade to enroll your students. I would also look at your local colleges to see what their entry requirements are, which is usually just an acceptable ACT/SAT score. It is only high schools that have requirements like 4 years/math/science/language arts ect.. It is not necessary to have an accredited homeschool program for high school to get into college.

    Hello. Great video. My son should have been in grade 1 this year. Due to the pandemic and my dislike of public school here in California I was glad to homeschool him. However, I am not a teacher and I feel I am lacking some kind of structure and a guide to what he should be learning. I feel he is already ahead of his grade in maths. He’s already doing simple division and fraction but other stuff I’m sure he is still first grade. Do I only get to enroll in one grade and I’m stuck in it? Or can I choose second grade maths and 1st grade English and science

      From my experience with Time4Learning you get a year before the year you register as and a year after so if your child is advanced in math they can do the year ahead and then go back to their current year or the year before for whatever they may need. You can not choose the grade levels individually though in Time4learning. Hope this helps.

I highly recommend a period of deschooling which is a break where you get to know your child and what they enjoy and where they are academically, it is a time where you try to get away from the way typical school is because homeschool is not like traditional school, you have a lot more freedom. Anyway, if you have specific questions please let me know and I will discuss them on video.

      @BloomingBrilliantHomeschoolers  4 роки тому +5

      Right now, with COVID socialization is difficult for everyone. The best thing when everything returns to normal or semi-normal is to have your children join extracurricular activities that interest them, where they will meet follow children. Let them be active in the community. Join a Homeschool Co-op where you get together once a week and learn together. Socialization is a valid concern, it something we all worry about especially in the beginning but how often are we all with people of the same age? We socialize with a variety of people so having your children be active in the community can solve this problem. I hope this helps.

    • @sansational15
      @sansational15 4 роки тому +7

      Socialization is misconceived by people. First off, when a child goes to a physical school, they can only interact with each other during lunch or in the hallway between classes. Children, otherwise, are supposed to sit in their seats and be quiet.
      Also, there are almost always local homeschooling activity groups to join.
      As for socialization, this actually means that a child or person can properly interact with others. It doesn't necessarily mean they have to be around others all the time or a lot. Homeschoolers also outperform others in that area.

      Usually, any school will admit a student if they take and pass specific tests. In NYC, if a child continues to stay registered at the appropriate grade levels for his/her age, that child should be able to reenter school at any time at their grade level. Once high school starts, however, the NYC public schools require Regents exams to make yearly promotions. To reenter high school, you might be required to take all of the Regents exams for your previous high school years. Any exam that you didn't pass would be a course you would have to take again.

      I was very confused at first too last year. So there is a difference between homeschool and cyber/virtual/online school aka schooling at home. A kid can go to a state public school while at home and that is where a kid gets credits or diplomas. A parent takes a back seat to the virtual school even though the kids are at home. Homeschool is outside of the institutional system and parents call all the shots in what they learn and time spent. A curriculum is the work kids do...the assignments and learning goals based on the standards guide. T4l is just the curriculum or the teaching martial already put together so it matches the learning goals of the public school institution. The parent uses T4l as the materials or “books” and guide their kids themself. True homeschool kids usually take a generalized test at 18 through their local school system to graduate and so do not need to earn credits.

    Does Time 4 Learning have Teachers? Do you need a printer? Or can use a app called Kami?

      When we used it, it was mostly animation and we did use our printer, especially for science at the time. I am not sure about an app as we used it directly on desktop.

    Can your child graduate from this program with a diploma? Does the parent need anything state specific to do this?

      T4l is not an online or virtual public school so it doesn’t give its own diploma. It uses the same material public schools use so kids will align with what they learn in public schools. It’s for true homeschool were parents manage everything. There are cyber or online public schools also but they are not the same as homeschool since parents take a back seat and the online school sets the rules.

      As stated, Time4Learning is NOT an online school. It is a curriculum. Like a Pearson (or any other big name) text book.

      You should look for accredited homeschool programs. Programs such as these, offer diploma. Abeka is a great option (They have both accredited and non-accredited options). However, it is mostly book based with video lessons. Time4learning is only a curriculum. Think along the lines of materials you child uses to learn (i.e. worksheet, instruction, books. etc.). In the homeschool scenario, You are the teacher, your home is the school, your child is the student. You decide the material you would use to teach your child (i.e Time4learning, Abeka, Miacademy, etc.) . Hope this helps.

    ¿Is it possible to turn off the annoying talking voices?? I've been using Edgeunity for months and I've always hated those voice that tell you the unecessary stuff (unless gotten wrong). It reads stuff for me but I don't want to hear it, I am autistic and it is very distracting. If I get it right, it will explain anyway, which is really annoying and stressful that it drives me crazy, aaaaah--
    It's an amazing program, but I either have to go to work late for the time-consuming voices (especially that one specific Chemistry teacher), or work on Time4Learning super late to catch up. 😫

    Do you get a high school diploma with time for learning? Will my child be able to get into college with this program?

    • @sansational15

      You have to use and pay for an accredited homeschool program in order to receive a diploma. Otherwise, your child has to take the GED when they finish high school. We use the accredited program from Abeka.com which costs us about $1,100 per year for the books, DVD classroom, and accreditation for our daughter. We use their program, because it's far more progressed, and she will get a diploma from them.

      LIDARKSIDE not true...go to freetranscripts.com and create your own transcript. You can order your child a diploma off the Internet when they meet all the criteria for graduation in your state. Your child will need to take ACT or SAT or placement test to get into most colleges. They do not need to do a GED. I have two in universities in TN and N.C. one took ACT and the other took placement test. Both graduated from community college then transferred into university. Please do your research in your state. Homeschools are real private schools. Parent is the administrator and teacher. You hand out the diploma.

      @@bravelizard494 Yes, but just like a GED, it's not up to the standard of a school-issued diploma and transcript. Most all homeschoolers I know had to have their children take the GED; and, not only are homeschoolers usually put ahead of the list for acceptance into universities and college over public school students, homeschoolers with school-issued diplomas and transcripts get even further preference. I've been homeschooling for 11 years and have done my research very well (thank you) which is why we go with an accredited program whereas our daughter will receive a diploma and transcript from the school itself.
      ...and for those who prefer to make up their own diploma, they can also go here, www.homeschooldiploma.com/.

New York State does not recognize virtual or online schools. You are welcome to use an online school to meet the requirements of home schooling, including the IHIP and quarterly reports but in order to get them in college they would eventually need to take the GED/TASC.

    my sister’s going to start time4learning and she’s only going to do it for middle school. Since time4learning isn’t accredited, i was wondering, ¿would community college still accept unacredited middle school? she’s going to do an accredited highschool program, so would the middle school accreditation even matter at all to community college? if you don’t know the answer to this, it’s perfectly fine :D

      As it has been stated in the other comments, your child should be fine when it comes to using Time4Learning in middle school. Colleges don't typically look at middle school records, usually high school with a focus on the last few years.
