  • This is a trip where day 1 we fished the Cortez Banks for the larger grade fish up to 35lbs. Day 2 we went south behind San Clemente and found a magic paddy loaded with Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado. Underwater footage of an epic magic kelp patty.

Haven't watched the video just yet but I'm glad you had a great trip for this year! We went on a 1 1/2 day trip on the 20th, and we only got the small schoolie yellowfin. First time I've ever bounced a tuna before. Some of the bites were picky but at the end of the day we had a wide open free for all like you had on your second day. The dorado were not as numerous though, and I only got bit on one once on the troll and that one came off. Dorado are really hard to gaff and they have tons of ways to get off your line as well. The underwater shots are pretty cool but sometimes they get me a bit motion sick, but then again I'm easily susceptible to that. I always have to wear the patch when I go fishing. Heh, I tried casting anchovies too, god they are so hard to cast, I prefer sardines, but I guess old school is anchovy with a really small hook.

Some videos I can't watch because of the bouncing. My Mom can't even watch the ones I take and I'm just using a handheld camera. Actually the toughest part is when the camera goes in and out of the water, which sorta gets me queasy. I know, how in the world do I go fishing if I get seasick all the time. Well, it's because it's so much fun. I mean, I saw where Mike nearly lost your rig when he got bit, pretty funny, and pretty fun.
I enjoy when you just wander around with your Gopro talking to the other anglers and helping them out too. It's sorta sad when some people ignore you, and it's funny when some guys are so focused with their setup that they don't realize you're coming down the rail. I guess it just takes some years to learn. At around 13:45, it's hilarious how that old guy ignores you like twice when you ask if he's in freespool. But you can tell he's not that experienced, since he's using the bling bling boat rod and reel that the Dawn has for handoffs, LOL. When I first saw that rod, I was like, who drapes bling all around their rods....

+California fishermen Yes, be prepared for anything. Because it can and will happen. Plan your trip and find out what they're catching and be prepared for that.
