I would recommend switching the roller fairlead to a plow lift fairlead as it has a larger lower roller which will reduce load on the winch also reduces the cable flexing which can cause broken strands leading to premature cable failure.
it works pretty good, but you’re probably right. I really need to weld a mounting bracket, instead of the wood. Just haven’t taken the time to learn how to yet. I appreciate your comment.
I have the same winch. I mounted mine to a trailer hitch frame, so I can remove the winch and keep it inside, out of the elements when not in use. Mine is set up to use on my flatbed car hauler, or the hitch receptacle on my truck. I went with a set of the long lead jumper cables with quick disconnects, as I didnt want to have a separate battery mounted on the trailer that Id have to always keep charged.. I didn't use the black wire that came with the winch. I mounted the red wire with the breaker directly to the positive battery terminal and just clamp the positive lead on the jumper to that and the black wire to the negative side. So far it works good.
