This video was pretty good it showed just about everything. I would imagine there may be an inner pouch on the yeast pack that may be connected or loose. If loose it could maybe slide out. I wanted to learn more about the smack pack because I want to make sure it is all good before I make the wort because I have no spare yeast around to use. Thanks for the video.
Do you have to wait 3-5 hours or can you just poor it in?
I used a smack pack for the first time and followed the instrucs...what I found out was that there were two bladders inside the smack pack...and I didn't find this out until after I had already dumped my yeast and one of the broken packs into my yeast starter...so I cut the other one open and dumped it into the starter. Don't know if this was right or not...terribly irritating experience that this wasn't explained and that the process isn't more foolproof. It is completely moronic. I hope this still works. There has to be a way to make a more reliable product. You shouldn't have to learn by trial and error when you are paying this much for the product!
... long shot seeing if you will reply to this comment from 5 years ago... did your batch work? I just did the same exact thing and now I am nervous that I shouldn't have cut open the second pack... upon further inspection the second pack didnt look like it was designed to burst quite as easily as the first one. Thanks in advance.
Just cut open the bag open the yeast packet and pour it in sanitized vessel 5 hours before brewing
This video is about two minutes longer than it needs to be.

i use dry yeast wyeast seems soooo expensive
