Xiang Liu knows this, so he keeps pushing her farther and farther away. As he pushes her, he teaches her how to survive bc he knows that he will not be able to accompany her in this life. She grew to love Tu Shan bc he does what he said. Xiang Liu also chose Tu Shan bc of this reason, to accompany her for her remainder years. If you pick apart all the scenes, you'll also come to the same conclusions. When she said she was afraid of dreaming about him. When a young woman starts to dream about a man, she's becoming dependent on him with passion. She was afraid bc he was public enemy #1. She's afraid of being alone to live out her life without her lover, and she knows that he will die someday. She's also afraid that if she loved him, she wouldn't be able to tolerate living without him. That was the kind of love she was afraid of having with him. So she collected memories of him through her mirror. If she admits that she loves him, then she's falling into a rabbit hole.

Xiang Liu also chose Tu Shan bc of this reason, to accompany her for her remainder years." I think the story proves that Jing doesn't do what he says. He's full of grand promises, but is never able to follow through. He promised to help Wen Xiaoliu escape, but then deliberately told Cang Xuan he was Ye Shiqi, allowing CX to threaten his life so that Xiaoliu would turn back due to her pity for him. He promised to return Ye Shiqi to her in 15 years. Instead, he slept for 37 years. He promised after he woke from his coma that he would do anything to be with her--even if it meant being her servant for the rest of his life. Instead of doing this, he married FFYY. At best, Jing is completely useless. At worst, he is selfish, manipulative, and has an unhealthy attachment towards XY (read stalker). XL knows just how useless Jing is and has complained about this fact many times. He sets Jing up to accompany her because Jing meets her criteria for a companion (never being able to give her up), not because he has a high opinion of Jing's ability to follow through with his promises. XL taught XY archery because he obviously couldn't rely on Jing to protect her. 🙂

i read all the comments, am officially trashing all the bad vibes towards jing..i think his character is what differentiates an ambitious man and a man who would leave the world behind for that one thing which he believes is worth, which i think its the strategy to survive in this complex realm we find ourselves in. you cant chase everything and get everything like cang Xuan,you are bound to lose the one thing that matters the most. its like chasing a mirage. i thing jing'S character is a little slow, but its embraced in love and intelligence which to me is admirably cute..but xiangli!!!woah! that guy must have taken 365days working on his smile,its incredible. Finally in this episode, Jing seems smart! Before he seemed intermittently so passive. i read all the comments, am officially trashing all the bad vibes towards jing..i think his character is what differentiates an ambitious man and a man who would leave the world behind for that one thing which he believes is worth, which i think its the strategy to survive in this complex realm we find ourselves in. you cant chase everything and get everything like cang Xuan,you are bound to lose the one thing that matters the most. its like chasing a mirage. i thing jing'S character is a little slow, but its embraced in love and intelligence which to me is admirably cute..but xiangli!!!woah! that guy must have taken 365days working on his smile,its incredible. And I hate him for not confessing how he feels..damn you XIANG LIU!! LOL
Finally in this episode, Jing seems smart! Before he seemed intermittently so passive. Seems in hindsight, he has been ambitious for his girl, for his buddy, for uniting Haoling Xiyan etc together but in a non-selfish way. Lovely Fenglong appreciates this & they are bro again. All along Jing support via his business clan & tactics, help CX & old King of Xiyan & Fenglong re-unite the realm & keep the peace with transitions of power.
