Foundation 1.0 - Prospecting and Building The Quarry [E5]

- I have been planning on expanding to increase mining production. The main reason is for the new items that need to be produced. The current production lines would not be able to supply enough. Through the expansion process I learn a lot about how prospecting works and we get to build better mining facilities called quarries. We are going to use the quarry a lot.
Experience the charm of Foundation, a relaxing medieval city-building game that breaks away from grids, letting your city grow organically. Build impressive monuments, manage resources, and shape a thriving community in this unique and immersive strategy experience.

The village is growing :)
I must grow. Thanks.
"Thinking while I'm recording doesn't work so well" thank you I needed a laugh today
I try. Thanks for watching.
"The tavern works differently to the church ... different type of worship." - 😂Solid gold, Surtr! 🍻
Many thanks for pointing out your findings about the housing capacity and managing needs for the different levels of housing, too.
Surtrium is looking pretty good. :)
Glad you liked the episode, thanks for watching.
i'm turning notifications on for this one
Thanks.
👍
Hi!
How about a well for the mining town? Also I saw in another channel's build storing wheat in a granary helped with the bread/wheat bottleneck. Worth a shot? Can't wait for the next episode. 🙌
Thanks. And thanks for the support.
My wife and I rarely play the same game but the past few days we have both been addicted. My lesson learnt last night, never pay 1600g* to upgrade all your citizens at once! I hade a housing crisis, happiness crash, mass exodus and a long period of recovery. haha. All good fun.
Ouch. That sounds harsh. I trust everything is okay now. It is a lovely game though. Thanks for watching.
@@surtrplays Yeah all good now. I've just expanded onto an Island which is going to become a castle. I'm on 200 villagers.
Nice going!
FYI you can influence paths, by using fences. If you fence each of your fields with only one entrance, they’ll walk around.
Thanks.
The suburb of Serftown is coming along nicely. I hope the proximity of homes and workplaces helps the overall efficiency. It might be time for a castle or monastery?
Yup, I am getting there. I need to stockpile more material and get my town a bit more efficient first.
Also if you click on a worker in a building it will pop up a stat block including an option to promote outside of bailiff menu
Yup. Thanks.
In your royal book you can click on buildings tab and see all buildings that need staffing
Thanks Chaz.
hahaha "A different type of worship."
Apparently my unbelieving grandfather was asked by family to go to chapel, and he declined saying that his bible has a handle. lol
He sounds like a legend.
Adjusting Building Height, from what I have been able to see, is limited to certain types of building, that is all I have seen (NOTE I AM ON DEMO ONLY) - Fences are GREAT ways to influence pathing, also I would suggest to everyone to get the wood wall security as quickly as you can, because you can then Wood Wall certain areas and keep them smaller with nice controlled doors/gates that lead in and out, which forces the pathing.
There will be a lot of construction/deconstruction and rebuilding in cycles, just like any real city or the growth of an area, this always happens so expect a certain amount of it, and do your best to control the pathing/direction it will be going.
Yes, you are right on the money.
I wonder what are the late game patterns. Should we start small and go for upgrade very quick or maybe build sort of a zones? I imagine you could keep part of houses on basic level while another keep another zone upgraded. And then place industries around according to what requires which class of citizens. But that is not really possible from start and would require huge rebuilding, moving industries around, etc.
As for your houses downgrading, did you put beautification items around your new village? I think I saw them indicated as missing when you click on house
I would say building up the density of the houses are early as possible so you have smaller 'suburbs'. Some can stay as Serf houses but as you promote people the houses will upgrade as long as the other requirements are met.
The houses were beautified but the commoners left because they didn't have the 2 refined foods.
I think one of the requirements for something were paved roads.
I think that is for citizens.
Interesting, in my games I don’t have that option to adjust building heights. Wonder if there’s a setting I missed
@@bluntbreak you do. Right click on the buildings that are editable.
Only certain buildings are editable but you should be able to do it. You need to click on the building and then the part you want to increase in height, and you should see the up/down arrow.
When you first build or edit there is a draggable arrow at the top. If there are left and right arrows also, it means you can change the aesthetic,
do you play ICARUS
I have but never really got into it.
@@surtrplays why its a very good game and its had a lot of updates you are missing out
@@kingsmegger4089 maybe one day.
