Roy transcended music on a spiritual level. He was the Freddie Mercury of his genre, no equal before or since. A National Treasure. I cry on each and every song he sings, he touches my heart and soul in ways I never knew.
Roy died seventeen days after this. He was beyond amazing with his voice. So lucky to have held him and still have his amazing voice. So grateful he was in my life with his awesome voice.
His death was the reason the 60s died ultimately. With him around in the 90s this could've been still a thing. Although some tried. Tina Turner did an awesome job with "Goldeneye", that shared a lot of atmosphere of early Bond movies. Its not only about Roy, and the 60s. For example same happened with funk. James Brown death was to me the death of funk.
Es war ja auch alles wunderschön was was er gesungen hat hat und überhaupt der war ein ganz ganz toller Typ danke danke schön Roy ich liebte sein Lächeln es war wunderschön ich danke dir noch mal mach's gut

Elvis, friends with Orbison, once said, he wished his voice was as superb and unique as Orbison's, from the king of rock and roll, high praise indeed, or something along those lines though, much respect for a timeless legend x
I'm 46, and I introduced my nephews to Roy Orbison by starting them off with You Got It, Blue Bayou, In Dreams, and Pretty Woman. They like his vocal style.
As a kid growing up in the 80's, I only knew Roy Orbison by his most famous song, Pretty Woman. It was only when his passing was announced and my local news station showed this video of him singing You Got It did first hear it and instantly fell in love with it. RIP, Mr. Orbison.
His haunting voice made a comeback just in time. Roy went out on a high note. Not bad. But it would have been nice, if he had lived a bit longer. A great artist!
A thanks must go to Jeff Lynne, Roy’s wife said she’d never seen him so enthusiastic about getting back into the studio. Thank you Jeff, you gave us a revitalised Roy Orbison, and you gave us the Travelling Wilburys, for that I’m forever grateful
It was George Harrison that did that, in fact he and Roy Orbison went to dinner one night and came up with the concept for The Traveling Wilbury's. it was George Harrison's group.
@@musicauthority703 not according to interviews, they all wanted to work on the Roy Orbison album, according to George, they all wanted to work on something together, the band was a happy extension of that, but sadly Roy Orbison passed away just after the release of the track & video for Handle with care
@@johnhickey4289 Not true, he was also there for the track "Not Alone Anymore". Roy Orbison died on December 6th 1988 a short ways into the first album..
The only man in history who could stand perfectly still and just move his lips and still have you wondering how he is the greatest singer ever. A vocal range beyond belief, He could full voice where others could only falsetto. And yes even Elvis thought so to
As many have noted over the years, Roy wasn't flashy. His act was restrained to say the least. Look how the audience appears to be spellbound. The only I artist I've personally ever watched do this was Sinatra. I'm so glad that Roy got another chance at an active career. The man was polite to a fault and was never quite comfortable performing. He had dyed his hair starting at a very young age. Under the jet black was a shock of the whitest hair on the planet. Despite all the tragedies in his, he came back for more. What makes his comeback that much sweeter was the fact that the man APPRECIATED it so damned much. Overwork is likely the biggest contributing factor to his death by heart attack at age 52. Roy passed away only weeks after this was filmed. He packed more into his last six months than some people do over the course of a lifetime. Be like Roy. Be kind to others, appreciate all that you've received and be a productive member of society. It sounds like the recipe for a fine life to me.
+Cory Bangerter Not only were audiences spellbound, but our best British groups were too. The Beatles and Rolling Stones held him in great admiration, and both groups have openly admitted standing in the wings waiting to follow him onto the stage and wondering how they were going to compete with what he'd just delivered.
I grew up in a Hollywood family and the only time I cried upon hearing of the death of a celebrity was when I heard of Roy's passing I felt that after his tragic filled life God said?, Come in home Roy.😢
For those who say this is lip-synched, I'm not saying it's not. But please remember that Roy Orbison had the amazing ability to sing in an enormous range with very little effort. I've seen many videos of Roy and he looks like he is just talking when he sings. This shows what a great singer he was.
Also this was about a week before he died. He couldn't have been well, therefore I think we can forgive him on this one. Unlike those non-entities we see today, 'talent' that I won't mention....
In my opinion, this was Roy's best song (which is saying a lot about one of the greatest of all musical superstars). Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after.
This was at the Diamond Awards in Nov. 1988. This was Roy's only public performance of this hit. Sadly, he died of a heart attack 17 days afterwards. What an incredible singer.
My best friend just got married last night. The father-daughter dance was to this song. It was beautiful. Perfect song choice when you think about the lyrics and a father-daughter relationship.
There never was, nor ever will be, another voice like Roy Orbison. Bet most folks from my generation know all the words to all his songs. Thank you Mr. Orbison for all the pleasure you've given us over the years even through all your personal tragedy. RIP
Roy Orbison is still my favorite singer of all time his mellow voice and strength that you never get tired of listening to him..........He was wonderful in every way.....!!!!!!!!!!!
My mom was a huge Roy fan and I grew up with the Electric Light Orchestra. This song was produced by ELO lead singer Jeff Lynne I believe. What an incredible singer Roy was.
Co-written and produced by Jeff Lynne (ELO). It's Jeff Lynne who called Roy and convinced him of recording again. Just like that You Got It reached number one on the Adult Contemporary chart, returning Orbison to the top 10 for the first time in 25 years.[The song also reached number three on the UK Singles Chart in early 1989. , Tom Petty who also co-wrote this song and Jeff Lynne, also played instruments on the record.
My mum listened to this in her car when I was with her ever since I listen to him. I brought his cd and listen to it all the time. He is one of my favourite singers now.

1988: This performance was used for the video for "You Got It"; it's the only time he performed it before cameras before he died. Roy was scheduled to head home and meet up with his Traveling Wilburys mates and do a video for "End of the Line" and then "You Got It", but he was gone at 52 once he got back to Nashville. They did overdub the recorded version, rather than with this 'road band' for the videos. Doesn't matter. Bruce Springsteen once said the best way to listen to Roy was late at night, in the dark and at full volume. He got it right.
Like a lot of people my age, I loved Roy and remember him singing 'Pretty Woman' on the Ed Sullivan show. Then he disappeared for a long time. We were all into hard rock and we weren't listening to people that actually played real music. Years later when "Black & White Night' came out I finally recognized what a treasure he was. My God; what a voice! And what a songwriter he was. He was taken far too early. Look at me; I'm still coming back to his music, and so are you! RIP Roy.

That voice still gets to me, and there's been no one like him since. He's so missed.
Yes and he was an American icon. Wonder what he would think of backstabbing China and murdering Russia?
Roy recorded this song for his wife. In doing so he set her up for life. That is true love!!!!!
You have a break from his voice and then you one day hear it again and love his singing all over again .

Roy Orbison's voice is one of the few that gives me goosebumps. Amazing voice and charisma.
Leah, Roy Orbison---->

Eu aqui🙋
Yes his voice was better than rap.
Yes
So sad 😇
😢😢
es en diciembre me imagino esto fue a finales de noviembre de 1988 😢😢 6 de diciembre este concierto entonces fué el 19 de noviembre de 1988
Knowing that Roy died 17 days after he gave this performance, overcomes me with emotion.
Holy hell, that's sad
His death was the reason the 60s died ultimately. With him around in the 90s this could've been still a thing.
Although some tried. Tina Turner did an awesome job with "Goldeneye", that shared a lot of atmosphere of early Bond movies.
Its not only about Roy, and the 60s. For example same happened with funk. James Brown death was to me the death of funk.
Goes to show the true marvel of the man.roy and Frank Sinatra have the best voices I've ever heard!!
That’s amazing I didn’t know that he certainly had life in him near his death 🙏🏼

I was 10 yrs old when this song came out and I remember being mesmerized by his voice, and will never forget the shock that he died.
RIP Roy Orbison!!!!
You know there is a lot of memories that go with his music.
Roy Orbison was a gift to us all . The man had more than his share of tragedies in his lifetime. He was taken from us way too soon. May he be resting in peace.
Even though he was from an earlier era, the crowd of younger folks just love him and that puts me to tears. Roy had the magic to do that.
He was taken so early because they needed that angelic voice in the angels choir.
RIP Mr. O

Elvis, friends with Orbison, once said, he wished his voice was as superb and unique as Orbison's, from the king of rock and roll, high praise indeed, or something along those lines though, much respect for a timeless legend x
Its 2023 and I'm 76 and still loving this man and his music
I'm 46, and I introduced my nephews to Roy Orbison by starting them off with You Got It, Blue Bayou, In Dreams, and Pretty Woman. They like his vocal style.
66 years Play the Big O still - once a day at least one of his great songs - I got to keep in touch with his tunes -
Have good day and listen on.
Look close...he has wild, intoxicating smirks. He knew it was that good. My hat's off to this Man. Thank you, Mr Orbison 🎩
As a kid growing up in the 80's, I only knew Roy Orbison by his most famous song, Pretty Woman. It was only when his passing was announced and my local news station showed this video of him singing You Got It did first hear it and instantly fell in love with it. RIP, Mr. Orbison.
An operatic mind in the body of a country ballad singer. Orbison was magic, truly unique.
I wholeheartedly agree!!! ❤
His haunting voice made a comeback just in time. Roy went out on a high note. Not bad. But it would have been nice, if he had lived a bit longer. A great artist!

Roy Orbison was the real deal in every way. Great voice, great songwriter, great commanding stage presence, great rhythm guitar player etc.
A thanks must go to Jeff Lynne, Roy’s wife said she’d never seen him so enthusiastic about getting back into the studio. Thank you Jeff, you gave us a revitalised Roy Orbison, and you gave us the Travelling Wilburys, for that I’m forever grateful
They were friends, all successful on their own terms yet the want to make more together when it didn't really have to happen is just beautiful.
Especially, after his awesome time with the Class of '55. He must've been itching for more action.

+Cory Bangerter His voice is pure magic. And I am a pink floyd kinda guy. Magic.
Well put.
Nothing like it on the planet. It's like if some hidden dimension opened up and his voice poured out from it
Well said.
I grew up in a Hollywood family and the only time I cried upon hearing of the death of a celebrity was when I heard of Roy's passing
I felt that after his tragic filled life God said?, Come in home Roy.😢
So glad that Roy got his moment again right before he passed.
agreed
For those who say this is lip-synched, I'm not saying it's not. But please remember that Roy Orbison had the amazing ability to sing in an enormous range with very little effort. I've seen many videos of Roy and he looks like he is just talking when he sings. This shows what a great singer he was.
Also this was about a week before he died. He couldn't have been well, therefore I think we can forgive him on this one. Unlike those non-entities we see today, 'talent' that I won't mention....

Wrong! No one can do the things you did Roy, 36 and I agree with Elvis, you have the best voice I’ve ever heard 🔥🖤
Sure Did right to the last note He had it
RJ McAllister awesome thanks for that
Like a lot of people my age, I loved Roy and remember him singing 'Pretty Woman' on the Ed Sullivan show. RIP Roy.
